WTF? Bunch oft crazies, looks like Tour de France just deadly ;)

it was a year late, the release was a disaster, reviews were mediocre and it barely registered on NPD.

depends if they listen to lOTl season ticket holders or their shareholders.

i think they really need at least another 6-9 months of growing DC, working out the kinks and getting a handle on the online infrastructure before they try again. I hope they continue to build on DC1 and dont pull out a DC2 until fall 2016 earliest. I've gotten little to no issues anymore with it, they are supporting it very well, i would just like a bit more time behind the wheel before they move to the next DC

I would greatly prefer another Motorstorm game, but I would be fine with DriveClub 2 as well.

As to whether or not it will happen? I dunno, I think the brand might be too tarnished at this point. They might still do it and just give it a different name, though.

I'm still enjoying the hell out of DC, and there's already talks of DC2?

It's too premature. That being said, I want more customization of the car designs. Good list, OP.

I wish they just took the whole concept and went nuts. Go Tron Legacy sci-fi racer all out with great weather and lighting. Great sense of speed and gorgeous graphics.

- Motorstorm: Pacific Rift 2
- AI difficulty settings for the singleplayer/campaign/tour/whateveryouwanttocallit mode

And yet it's sold over a million, and according to Evo above expectations, has earned a loyal fanbase, and has garnered a massive amount of positive sentiment among gamers, including high rankings in user voted GOTY lists across the internet.

A nice meaty expansion would be great. Driveclub needs to keep evolving instead of just ending and putting out multiple sequels. I'm sure they could do some sort of rally expansion. Guys made their name making rally games. Rally mode plus some nice city tracks. And they got my money whatever.

Has it sold over a million? That seems quite high.

The handling often feels like a rally game, especially in something slip happy like the Venom. The engine and handling would fit a rally expansion amazingly.

Also, city tracks are a must, preferably real ones like PGR rather than "inspired by" types of tracks. I actually don't want to see real life race tracks, as the handling model just isn't best suited to them, if I'm racing circuits I prefer a more sim like experience, I barely touch the race circuits in DC. Driveclub on country roads is perfect though.

Off the wall I would LOVE to see Evolution take over Wipeout but I want a back to basics game. Believable tracks, weaving in and around valleys and lakes would be cool, and a handling model closer to Driveclub but adapted for hover cars. I never liked the handling of any of the Wipeout games after 2097. Before they had great handling, you could swing into corners really effectively. Then it just became and arbitrary handling model that lost all of the finesse in control. Also, the speed bumps in Wipeout on the Vita really annoyed me, they were too effective and short term it actually ruined the flow of racing in that game and it was vital to weave around trying to hit them to have any chance. I want a Wipeout game that works more like F1 style handling and has some edge to it. Anyway, off topic now!

Edit: Forgot to mention the reason Evo would make a great Wipeout is that the track design in DC is so pitch perfect. They're designed so well, flow so smoothly and aren't just arbitrary corner after corner like some poorly designed racing games. I'd lump Wipeout in with that too by the way, the PS3/Vita Wipeouts felt like they were just designed against the handling of the vehicles to be as awkward and difficult as possible, not designed to complement the handling model.

can't find that figure quoted, and the rest is like putting how funny your mates think you are on your CV.

They're not going to let Driveclub die:

DLC momentum
PS+ version momentum
Special edition with all current DLC at the end of the year momentum
More DLC in 2016 momentum
March Ultra edition with every single DLC momentum

This thing is going to roll on for quite some time.

I thought someone had mentioned it in the OT, I could be wrong. There's over a million in the leaderboards anyway.

Yeah I think a good chunk of those have probably played it on someone else's system/borrowed the game etc but it's likely safe to say it's sold at least 500k+, which isn't bad all things considered (new IP, troubled launch, etc)

I'd imagine Evo and Sony care just as much, if not more about gamer feedback and opinion, as they do critical response or the opinions of certain journalists. Especially as far as word of mouth sales are concerned. Sales are ultimately what likely matter most though.

That's basically a sunk cost. Sony needs an arcade racer and a sequel would be comparatively much less expensive. It's pretty much a certainty IMO.

sony have been excellent at pandering to the types who want to feel like their overzealous investment in their meagre and largely mediocre next gen output means something, but that doesn't mean it steers their financials.

still can't find where one million sold through figure has come from?

Rallying is a racing genre on its own. So that won't happen. There are enough games to fill that niche.
Secondly I'm hoping there won't be customisation. It makes the competitive aspect of DC a lot less appealing.

What I want for DC two I just more of of the same; cars, tracks, more interactive game modes.
Some minor improvements to the driving model like drifting.

Wow dude....

Anyway, ignore the million, it was just based on predictions not any official number. I suppose we'll have to wait on those till a later time. But I guess we'll know about the viability of this franchise based on whether we see a DC2 or not.

no, i don't think i will ignore the million. nor what it tells me and everyone else about how far you'd bend reality to fulfil your ambition to become forum doormat for a multinational corporation.

Seriously dude, chill out. I don't know what your problem is.

Holy shit. I think Driveclub did something bad to this man. Or Sony. Or Evolution. Or all three.

People in this thread saying the IP is tarnished. Lol. It's being supported heavily by the developer and the eventual PS+ edition is doing to give the game a third wind. The game has a good following around here too.

With the experience of programming massive netcode for their titles Driveclub 2 should be phenomenal with added mechanics, tracks, and vehicles.

Read his post history.

I've never seen a more bitter person in my life. The weird part is that his commentary used to be somewhat sharp a while back. Now it's just... bitter.

It is my favourite racing game, even above GT6.

So I hope they continue to add DLC 2015-2016, with more locations (southern france/italy, USA california or some other coastal roads)

Didn't Motorstorm sales fall of a cliff? If Sony saw that a sequel would be farfetched. Or maybe Evolution moved on from the IP.

Considering it's still only the second car-racing title on PS4, it's not like it doesn't have a niche. What are the quotes on the sales figures? Europe's gotta be feeding sales nicely, considering the market.
