Driveclub delayed, PSN+ replacement is Contrast

You're really setting yourself up for disappointment for Need for Speed purchases.

But yes, this is a shame. Damn shame.

It's kinda funny that Rushy tweeted that the next Drive Club video they were going to release was going to feature multiple cars when the video isn't going to be released until after a few months. Rushy didn't lie though I'll give him that.

I see it as bad news for the PS4 launch but probably good news for Driveclub as a game and as an ongoing franchise.

It's nice to have a flashy racer at launch of a new console, I just hope NFS Rivals fills the PS4 gap for me.

He's the opinion police. Only in the last 24 hours in the Nba2k14 and Sonic reviews thread he did the same things.

Least you can do is address me directly, PM or whatever. Yeah look up my posts in the Sonic review thread and the NBA 2k14 thread. Go ahead. In the NBA 2k14 thread i spent time telling people that a 50 gig basketball game likely wont look like the 8 gig PC/360/PS3 version. And in the Sonic thread i tried to dismiss this idea that reviewers were out to shit on Nintendo exclusives.

Damn.

I figured it was official. I guess this gives me more time to play GTA V.

I'm pretty bummed about this launch, had the Amazon bundle with WD and DC was the other game I wanted. I usually will buy a 'story' game and a 'unlimited' game like racing, fighting, etc ... (not too much into sports games recently) and was really hoping that Fanatec would be supported on the PS4 (since there's still 'hope').

Not sure if I want a PS4 at this point. The two big games I wanted aren't coming out and not sure if ACIV or the shooters will be enough ...

EDIT: I think this is great for DC though. I was getting a bit suspicious because they hadn't shown ANY MP footage for a 'social/multiplayer' experience and it's less than 30 days before launch. This is for the best since I'll be waiting years before seeing a GT on the PS4. Would rather have a great game than a rushed one.

Delays suck but the Miyamoto quote will always ring true. I know this is going to make DC a much better game. It will
hopefully
hit its 60fps target as well as flesh out all the social aspects and modes in the game. This is a good thing. Still have NFS Rivals to get at launch to scratch that racing bug. All is well gents. Preorder retained.

The DC delay rumor and this thread has all been amazing viral marketing for NFS. I had no idea it was even a launch game.

I guess I won't buy a PS4 at launch. I'm going to keep my pre order for DC (for 20 €) and buy a PS4 next year when Second Son launches.

I don't need a new console for multiplat games and I don't have any interest in Killzone.

Yeah.

Damn, I vowed to not give EA my money anymore. :-/

If you give your money to Turn10, Dan Greenwalt will invest it in new paint coat technology that harnesses the power of the reflections shining on his glorious bald head. And then everyone can use that technology.

Do the right thing. Buy Forza.

There's an irony to it in that those third party games that are being ignored will probably outsell pretty much all those launch exclusives on either system, if historical precedent tells us anything.

The Watch_Dogs delay was really a more significant delay to the next gen launches.

While this game was delayed we had 4 more completely free games (for those who bought them on PS3/Vita) via the cross play program. There's probably around 23~ games that will be available for launch or soon after of which I will have about 10. And this is just the launch month. Drive Club will surely be missed but there are too many games I will be playing so I suppose getting this concern thread out of the way is the best thing since there isn't many bad things to discuss revolving around PS4.

I hope this means a better and more polished product.

I feel this is a good thing, if it gives us a better game in the longer run.

Won't be surprised if there is a few launch games that we will be wishing had extra time.

The thing that amazes me is what, we are going into the 8th or 9th generation of consoles now, and companies still can't get a launch right? Not like they didn't have a decade to plan for this and prepare...

So basically, this means PS+ members win since they are getting a new free game in addition to the ones already announced. Don't see this as a bad thing necessarily!

Is it normal that i can't quote from a locked thread?

Whatever... two days ago when the rumor started i said:
"Don't let it be Contrast, i want to really buy that game, not get it for free!"

Well now it is Contrast, my most anticipated Launch Game. I'm glad for them, because now a lot more people will play the game. Hopefully Sony is paying them enough.

But since i would still like to support such games with actually buying it i will buy it also on Steam.

Because developing games does not have any variables?

I am very glad I didn't preorder a PS4 like I almost did. The launch lineup was already disappointing before, but it's downright awful now. Driveclub didn't look great, but the free edition, as barebones and shitty as it probably would have been, had me excited. As did Watch Dogs.

With all of these delays, I can't help but think Sony did some majorly shady shit in the background and lied about game releases to get people "hyped" for PS4 launch.

What else was delayed? This is real shady shit. You really wanted to play this "barebones and shitty" Driveclub, and Sony lied!!!

Although I'm not one to buy racers, especially at full price, I was looking forward to play the PS+ version of this if I got a PS4 on launch.
One thing I don't think was said was if contrast and DC will be part of the year long PS+ games or one month only games. It does however confirm Resogun for PS+ US.

Free for those who bought them. Makes sense. I have a free car. I also have free rent each month. We're looking for a house and my mortgage will be free.

I like your definition. I get a ton of free stuff each year!

so you think the devs have been working on PS4 hardware for a decade, knowing they would be a launch title?...

hyperboleGAF is out in full force as usual...

This might sound hard to believe but game development is not as simple as snapping your fingers.

And they've all had final hardware for about 5 minutes.

I have no doubt that every game released will be getting a patch within 2 weeks to fix shit that they couldn't get done in time.

For whatever reasons, DriveClub just needs longer to cook.

With the way the online community chews up these devs and companies for making the slightest compromise, I don't think we'll ever have a perfect launch. There's just too much pressure and this insatiable demand that lead to small windows between conception and release of a game.

Slightly disappointed but I was only planning to get the PS+ version of Drive Club.

I only pre-ordered NBA2K14, it's looking more likely by the day to be one of the best launch titles available.

Independently, neither Sony nor Microsoft seemed ready for next gen, even with such a big duration on current gen.

All smells like a must do, than done out of passion. I am even considering the Sony message of doing everything gamers want them to do. I dont think its philosophy, its being smart. All these ports of indies is great but sometimes it feels like a void filling from the games their studios should have been building for all these years.

I think it is kinda ridiculous after the duration of current gen, that all we get from Sony and Microsoft are Killzone, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising, Forza, Knack and some indies that already exist

What if I told you that not only are your house and car free but it even upgrades! WOW!

1080p 60fps ports.

amazing

Maybe now they can convince me of the game again. After the Feb reveal nothing came close to what they presented visually and the game is 30fps, it should have blistering visuals! Maybe once they implement weather I'll come on board. Evolution are great with racers so I expect a whole lot from DriveClub, definitely happy with the delay.

So one game delay means not ready for next gen now?

Honestly, those with PS+ subscription wind up in an even better position with another free game.

For me, DriveClub PS+ edition would have been a 10 minute experience to see how pretty it was. With more development time, this is a good thing.

This would be fantastic advice...if I was getting an XBox One.
