This is most attention driveclub has gotten, by far. but now some of you make it sound like a system seller lol
Yeah, why not? I won't be getting PS4 till Christmas but I'm planning on "purchasing" every free PS+ game on my PC, in case they aren't free anymore when I do get the console.
Xbox One also lost WatchDogs.Sony is really in trouble with that revised launch line-up. First watchdogs, then this... I'm now only interested in Killzone and that's a 10-hour game (single-player). What would I be doing with my fancy new console after those 10 hours?
I guess you'd have to play all those other "things" that aren't real games. Like Resogun, and Contrast. And the F2P games. Sorry! I used the word "game". I can't believe I'm saying this but I wish that the xbone would come out in my territory this year. Forza, Ryse and DR all look pretty fun.
Potential consumers aren't asking "which one has more games" and compiling list wars and counting the number that aren't available on the other platform...
They're asking themselves "which one has more games that I want to get."
That may be the XB1 for some people. That may be the PS4 for some people. It may, I suspect, be neither for a lot of people as well, where the games they want are on both platforms anyway.
This will weigh into purchasing decisions alongside a bevy of other questions they're likely asking such as "what are my friends buying" and "which one is better value."
I think both launch lineups are weak. I have no interest in forza, killzone or dead rising. driveclub wasn't even on my radar. I dont buy consoles at launch for their amazing titles. I do it cus I want dat sexy new tech.
Stereotypical Gaffer!
I'm glad I cancelled my preorder ahead of time (joking, cancelled it for unrelated reason). Sony's quickly dropping themselves to second-place console status after a strong start with screw ups like this - things that wouldn't be issues if they'd had a Wipeout in the pipeline for launch.
Who's going to want DC next year with Infamous waiting to be played? They should really have considered moving some of the late-gen PS3 titles to PS4 launch. That's an astounding failure of management IMO.
Virtually everyone who has PS+ is going to play it, which is going to be virtually everyone with a PS4.Who's going to want DC next year with Infamous waiting to be played?
This will be a sales boost for GT6 at least.
I wonder if that factored into the decision...

No one is turning down a free, day one major release.
Contrast is a unknown quantity?Disappointing. I don't even know what Contrast is.
edit: I mean I'm disappointed the replacement is some unknown quantity. (For me.)
You're still going to get Driveclub PS+ version when it's released. Sony is simply giving Contrast as a "we're sorry for the delay" which they didn't have to do. They don't owe people anything, delays always happen in gaming.
When Gears of War 3 was delayed did people complain that Epic owed people another game to take its place?
When Grand Theft Auto 5 was delayed did people complain that Rockstar owed people another game in its place?
For me I wasn't going to spend 60 on drive club but had already committed to spending 15/20 on contrast
Now I get to spend 0 on contrast and still get the ps+ drive club
Not ideal but in my situation I'll take it
That's a difficult thing to articulate.PSN+ version is not the full game...
Not really a replacement since you still will have Drive Club PS plus edition when it launch.
I am pretty sure devs dont just pick a date when they can day it stuff happens. This is kind of pathetic. If they were going to delay the game it should have been done months ago and Contrast doesn't look like it's a proper replacement.
If I had decided to go for the PS4 on day 1 or was really looking forward to Driveclub, I would cancel and hold off til later for the console. At this point that was the plan anyway but it's pretty embarrassing to be doing this when the system is so close to launch.

That's a difficult thing to articulate.
It is a game which you can platinum, you can say it's a cut down version of a game, or you can say the disc version has additional stuff. Regardless, it's a game. It's functionally complete.
One thing that confuses me is the timing of this announcement - surely they would have anticipated a delay a good 6 months back?

If the PS+ version was just called DriveClub, and the disc said "DriveClub with DLC", the two things could be identical, and no one would ever mention it.Not sure about that. All it takes is to say that it doesn't give access to all tracks and cars to be factually correct and informative as to how full of a game this is next to the retail title that has been promoted since its debut.
