DriveClub has gone GOLD

Even on my phone with a crappy stream quality the game looks great. Can I also add how much more enjoyable it is watching someone play who knows how to drive and corner properly?

The lack of loading is incredible. Anyone that's played a lot of racing games over the last gen knows how bad loading could get in them. You're able to quit a race in this and you're back at the course menu in literally two seconds. It's just mind boggling.

Already really digging the soundtrack from what I've heard so far in the stream.

Looks like Hybrid did a great job.

Edit: Awwww, looks like the stream ended.

Whoa, $50 for the pre-order? That's really tempting... but I wanted a retail copy bad.

Forgive me, but does the "full" version of the game come with any PS+ perks? A free month of plus, etc?

Is there some sort of event in Munich?

Dunno. But I'll hopefully be checking this out next week at the Eurogamer Expo, time permitting. Have some other games higher on the priority list, so if there's not too long a wait, I'll be sure to post impressions again. Will also be my 2nd time playing it after playing it last year before the PS4 launch.

HOLY SHIT at 12:29-12:55

maybe because the stream is not the clearest, but damn if I haven't seen anything look that real in a videogame. O_o

Hearing the distinct tire-squeal from (I think?) nearby cars is awesome. The stream quality is soft, but this is looking rock-solid. I can't wait to play it to get a sense of how forgiving the tire-grip is for lateral movement. Segment challenges mid-race (like the cornering face-off) are absolutely fantastic. It reminds me of the fun of the objective rotation modes in Killzone 2 multiplayer.

Edit: Player tires squeal on the dirt, lol

The longest track takes 5 minutes with the pedal down in the fastest car
Thanks for the info. Slightly, but just slightly disappointing, but also not unexpected, and I'll live with it, as long as the core experience is fun (and I believe it will be). Bring on the October!

It looks quite weighty, which is really cool(in my opinion). Very forgiving(so not sim), but weighty.

Looks good.
Yeah, it's always fun to loose a car at high speed and catch it in time to recover. I definitely hope the physics engine at least semi-replicates the vehicles weight & body roll.

gat damn that Canada track looks awesome.

The forests one? It really is. I live in Alberta, which is only a 5 hour drive from the BC border. It's amazing how accurate the atmosphere and scenery in that track is to the real forested mountains that inspired it. Seeing that video for 5 seconds I could instantly tell you where that's set without even knowing the track name.

Fkkk look at the stream now. What track is this? That lighting is the best thing I have seen in any game. That speed.... That sound...

Wow, why didn't he block those cars that were coming up from each side of him? He dropped from first to fourth on that final stretch because he didn't block them from slingshotting by him.

Game looks ridiculous.
I might get bored with the gameplay though... I need more than just driving in circles i'm afraid (i found out in a lot of racers).
But it does seem like a great game to race with. And the environments are stunning. And the lighting.. Wow.
I'm kinda bummed online is so expensive these days. Game, PS+, season pass.. It's much more picking carefully what game is worth it.. :p.

But dayum, it's definitely the best looking racer out there.

It seems it does.

Last time I played, I had compared it to PGR, but I'd almost say that its more like Grid: Autosport at this point. Its still not totally my thing, but a bit more realistic is a good thing in my book.

Its not just the lighting. It is going to be the best looking game ever when it comes out. PC version of Ryse may come close, but perhaps I'm just biased due my love of scenery - I think DriveClub takes the cake.

Agreed. Damn this game looks amazing!

Anyone else going to just jump into time trials/free race and drive around at 5 mph and take a bunch of pictures instead of racing?

Edit: Would be cool if you could actually get out of your car and kind of walk around.

The only thing I don't like from what I'm seeing (hearing, more like) is that the cars slightly bumping into each other sound like they're throwing a rusty metal toolbox through a glass chandelier.

I'm been bumped on the side changing lanes on the freeway and it's more of a hollow thud...

/nitpick

Agreed. I still prefer it to the bumper cars sound of GT though....
