Driveclub - This game is legit

You forgot to tell everyone it's 10GB!! It'll be downloaded for me in the next few minutes.

yeah that surprised me. I remember reading a few pages ago about new buyers to get reafy for 10gigs download...but thought they were joking.

but it's all good, launched version was only 17gbs I believe...so we're still way below the average AAA game size here.

So, I'm unashamedly arcade racer only. Pure arcade, I dont like any sim aspects to my handling whatsoever. My favourite racers of last gen were Ridge Racer 7, NFS Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise and GRID 2.

There's being a disappointing lack of anything along those lines so far this gen for me (don't own an XB1 for FH2). Will I get along with Drive Club?

Yeah. Probably not, but it may open your mind to new types of racing experiences.
DC made its merits to win all the praise ot gets here. You'd never know.

You should find a way to try it.

How likely would there be a Driiveclub: Ultimate edition? I would prefer buying it with all the season pass content on disc :)

The season pass isn't even done. They haven't released all the content yet ..and they are STILL making changes to the game menu/mode/features

A driveclub ultimate edition isn't probably even considered at this point. ( My 2 cents )

Good god!

I have been owner of this awesome game since day 1 i know how good looking it can get but the above picture is just insane.

with all the constant updates the game gets, plus the possibility of a season 2... it seems almost impossible that an Ultimate edition would release and wouldn't be outdated within a month.

Is it really 10GB or does it just display 10GB because thats the total size of all patches since release? I've seen super large patch sizes on PSN that turn out to be only a few hundred MB because you're only actually downloading the parts you need.

Just displays 10GB, usually its something like 50-xxx MB of update data when a new update comes out.

Yes that's the size of all the patches.

I'm thinking of getting the season pass because I legit love this game, but I'm confused where the superb value everyone talks about comes from. From my understanding,

You get new events, which technically you could set up yourself if you wanted because all tracks are free.

You get new cars, though I'm one of those people who's not really into cars but likes racing games, already a large selection of cars in base package.

You get new liveries

I just don't know, not sure if the season pass is really my thing. May give in anyways to support the game.

Yeah all the courses are completely free whether you grab any of the tours or not. And those are the most important aspect of any racing game for me. More than the cars or liveries. That's why I haven't been compelled to get very many of the tour packs or even the season pass. But I do think its a good deal if that stuff interests you.

You'll get new trophies for those events i think which you can't get if you set up events and all the new cars give more variety as they handle different just like each car in DC.

i got it mostly because i like the 'tours' - i enjoy having a lot of quick challenges to jump in and out of.

i'm a gear head, though, so the additional cars also make it worth it for me.

having said that, the game desperately needs JP cars. you could throw just one iconic car to each of classes: LF-A, Supra, Evo, Civic Type R, etc and it would improve the game a ton.

Do you guys think there's any chance of any more substantial additions in the future or with Evo gutted is that basically off the cards? I'm talking new game modes and tracks etc.

I'd love an off-road rally mode with some of dat mud effects from Motorstorm.

Is "gutted" an accurate way to put it? Honest question.

Its a bummer that Evo got hit with layoffs. DC has a lot of promise still.

Picked this up today and from where the game stands now I can't see anything that warrants a score less than 8.0.

Welcome to the real world of people who actually played the game and didn't surrender to mob mentality.

I heard they were hit with pretty big layoffs but tbh I don't know to what extent.

They were hit hard but Sony said the aim is to treat Driveclub more like a service which probably means future updates will come as season passes and expansions rather than new entries i.e. Driveclub 2.

I could see maybe PS+ Edition being more modular where in addition to a full upgrade to the normal version, there will be options to buy certain cars as well.

If you've enjoyed progressing through the main tour, chasing stars, then it's more of the same - only using the additional tracks/cars/weather and more challenging.

You can't actually replicate all of the events through single event setup, as some tour events have special objectives/configs that aren't accessible.

I'm finally catching up on all DLC. Won all chamionship in all DLC. Not all stars, I'm not good enough. Last race of Elements DLC, Norway, pitch black night, heavy snow fall, hyper car. Hyperspace mode all along.

I don't see them brining an entire new location anytime soon.

If memory serves about half the team got laid off. In my mind that means we're more likely to see expansions and more tracks than it does a whole new game. I'm crossing my fingers for a rally themed expansion too.

First off, if etta is still reading this, apols for being a harsh bastard about the driving lines ;) I think it was more that, as someone who plays games like Assetto Corsa and other PC sim games, I would have thought you'd be able to drive the way racing drivers do - things like taking a few laps to nail the braking points using landmarks and building up knowledge of the corners, before going into a race and nailing the thing.

Anyway...

I agree with the CS'GO and Souls series comparisons on a number of levels, including the how rabid the fans are and our response to criticism of the game. People saying DC fans being precious about the game, I would suggest going to a Souls thread and saying something like 'The lack of a pause mode is a major failing in these games.' and see where that gets you.

DC fans are, by and large, HUGE fans of the game (and I include myself in this - by far and away my most-played game on my PS4), much like CS and Souls fans.

My wish-list for Season 2:

City & dirt tracks.
Some classic cars - maybe a 250 Cali, E-Type & a few others. Not many, mind.

Of those two, I'd most like to see some city circuits and P2P.

kyser73 and quite a few of the guys on this page have been around since day 1 on this game so I want to ask all of you, what do you think they could do about the club aspect do make it more essential?

Granted, the online problems didn't help foster that side of things, hell, the broken online is the main reason I never got to play online with my original club. That actually irks me a little. But now that its come together (and continually improving) what can they do to reinvigorate the club aspect?

In all honesty, it never really felt like it had that killer hook. What can that killer hook be? From a club perspective.

Personally, I would like the option to takeover the club following, say 100 days, of non-activity by the club-owner. I'm in GAF-Cubs, and the owner has not played for ages, but I cannot take over the club!

I wish they would have let us play through the tours with other club members against the AI. I'm not into competitive MP but I love cooperative play and racing games rarely let you play as a team. Somewhere before this game came out I read that this would be possible. Either that was inaccurate or they scrapped it, but either way I was bummed out.

Make it so you can actually lose fame in challenges with other players/clubs. Basically gambling the points you earn.

Yup, same with Krioto - non-activity by the club owner should free up club management...altho I should probably just PM Stillmatic...;)

Private lobbies and club generated challenge/league tables. I'd love to play through a load of races in mixed 12 single club members, 6v6, 4v4v4, 3v3v3v3 and so on.

BANG, 3 great ideas straight away. I particularly like the co-op play, essentially a private lobby with bots and the fame point gambling thing.

This too.

Stillmatic passed it to me, then I passed it to you AFAIR.

You know there's a standing offer for you to come over to the Drunken Wombats whenever you want. Just saying. ;-)

Nah, I think you passed it back to me farmerboy. I'll chuck it over to you kyser. I'm still keen for some action, just been busy with a newborn
(and Bloodborne :p)
so single player stuff has been easier for me recently.

What do the people who say "Limited cars/low ammount of cars" mean?

Just pure numbers?
Different classes/types? You go from Minis to Ariel Atom/Caterhams to P1/1:1, do you want karts and pedal cars?
Cars from different countries? The launch was almost Euro only but they have added American cars atleast later, this could be better of course. Haven't kept up with the OT lately.
I know this is an old post, but holy shit I would *love* karts in DC. Even if they were just in their own class, for shits and giggles it would be amazing.

Thanks for clearing that up, and congrats on the newborn.

And Shaneus is right, karts would be amazing.
