I loved the first need for speed, yes the first one, I am old, lol, driving through mountain roads, so when I saw Driveclub I knew it had potential.
Thinking about it now, this game is probably the closest thing we've had since the original Need for Speed that is like the original Need for Speed. Only exception is the car catalogues/information/corny FMV. God damn I loved that game.
Also totally agree about the second point, I would love some incredible city tracks, or even having mixed nature/city tracks like starting in a city and ending the race out in the nature.
Prediction: Season 2 will give us some city tracks. Imagine
this, but this gen. Hnnnggghh.
NO car tuning.
NO driving lines.
NO rewind.
This game is as close to pure racing perfection as is, and benefits greatly from not having these "features".

I have enjoyed my time with Driveclub, it was well worth the £20 I spent on it. It's the closest thing to Project Gotham Racing I'm going to get any time soon. Don't really get some of the hate for the game.
It really is. After the soul-crushing defeat that was finding out Lucid's teaser for a new racing game was 2K Drive on iOS and *not* PGR5, this game is what I've been waiting for. It's PGR without city tracks.
You know there's a standing offer for you to come over to the Drunken Wombats whenever you want. Just saying. ;-)
There's also an opening in Kings of Kudos if you're sick of waiting
Even though it's a level 48 club, I don't even care about reaching 50 with a noob or something. I just want to see people in there who play regularly (and thankfully, we all do!). Some kind of "last played" or "time played" would be great to see in the menus just to weed out people.
The point which you're dancing around accepting is it makes a difference and it requires both players to be using the line. How can you make sure both new players are using the line? What if one disables it?
Just admit it: having an optional line makes it impossible to guarantee each player is operating on an even playing field.
I'm sorry but you're wrong in principle here. Sure DC could have an optional driving line but it categorically would disrupt the core principle of the title of all players having the same experience and it would disrupt even handedness of the experience with dynamic in-game challenges.
It's not an opinion its a fact.
One case is having two people try out a car on a track and the other is having two people trying out a car on a track but one has a pro driver sitting next to them giving advice: there's no way to argue that doesn't make a difference vs the other example.
I had a thought: What if, no driving lines in online games *ever*, but it's an option for all offline races until the player hits an arbitrary level... say, 5? With the Startline tour, that would give people ample opportunity to experience learning some tracks without holding their hand for the main game (or online races).
And Shaneus is right, karts would be amazing.
I'd never have suggested it, but with that buggy from Motorstorm appearing, it's kind of opened it up to quirky cars that belong in their own class. Could you imagine one of those behemoth Canadian P2P tracks in a kart? It would take *forever* (and be so glorious for it).
Hell, I'm tweeting Rushy now about it.
