Thanks for the info. I'll keep the others in mind. As Megaman, card games, and MechAssault, I'm not a fan! We can't all be perfect, right? :D

god damned DS, way too many A games on the system and not enough time to play them. I think I may take a semester break from college to catch up on some DS games.

Are there any good DS RPGs besides the Mario one?

I'll be getting FF3 when it comes out but I need an rpg now...

btw I don't like lost magic

Anyone ordered their DSL from amazon?

Yeah it's ****ed up, I had a preorder with Toys R Us and the shipping estimate was sometime in July! I ended up canceling it and ordering from GameStop (through Amazon.com), it got shipped right away AND it was like $9 cheaper because GameStop didn't charge tax for some reason.

Just bought Tetris DS. I have to admit Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center are extremely hard to find. But both are coming with sequels this year, so I may just hold out.

As for the DS, I hardly put it down when I have free time anymore. I'm loving it.

Guys, look around for trauma center at brick and mortar shops like Best buy. There were quite a few at mine and even 1 at my local gamestop. Speaking of which, this game is so much better than I had thought, I'm the opposite of the target audience for this game and I'm loving it. I recommend it 100% for anyone looking for a game that you will want to play all the time, it's that good.

DONT DO THAT!!

Get Phoenix Wright no matter what, heck its super easy to get it from the UK, although you will have to pay higher prices than you spoilt brats are used to.

Try yesasia.com too, they sell US games at decent prices (UK-wise) and have free delivery. Weird tactic, But I find myself preferring to buy US games from them than from any Amercan seller which is odd.

skipping Phoenix Wright isnt like skipping Mario 1 or Madden 06 in favour of sequels, itd be like skipping a Star Wars movie or one of the LOTR books. One of the best games on the DS (if you like mystery/adventure type games.)

Yeah, get Phoenix. It's not the kind of thing that will be "bettered" by it's sequel.

I'm tempted to get Break Em' All, just because I'm a sucker for Arkanoid, but because I'm importing, I'd rather buy it with another game at the same time, to save on postage. So what DS games have came out recently, but have kinda gone under the radar? My list of games is at IGN here.

Any suggestions? I'm not opposed to importing.

I went out and bought....

Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Another Code: Two Memories <---Half Price
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time <---Half Price
Sonic Rush <---Half Price
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

....right now there are sitting happily beside my old DS but there is no way in hell that I am playing them on that :P

Friday Come To Me!!!!

You should have waited to buy:

Sonic Rush <---Half Price
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow]

Because Trauma Center: Under the Knife WILL CONSUME YOUR LIFE.

Skip Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center?!? OBJECTION! Yeah, do not miss out on these games no matter what. They are totally worth the trouble to track down and own. They're both reasons why I got a DS and luckily I found them before they started disappearing. Still, they can be obtained, even now. Yes, it's not easy to find them (I didn't know how frickkin' rare TC was getting until yesterday when I called all over town to try to find one for a friend who just bought a DSL - luckily he found a copy) but it can be done, even if it costs a little extra coin. I just scored a copy of Phoenix Wright for a pal though it took forever to find/get back in stock (I ordered through toysnjoys.com). So look high and low, you don't want to miss the great doctor/lawyer action. Good luck!

The DS game availability is piss poor. Most of the stuff that's highly recommended in this thread is on back order at most places.

My local video game store in ireland that does not have a clue of what is happening in the world....

...they also called the DS a "slow seller" and told me to expect not to get a huge amount of stock in.

geting my ds lite tomorrow - apparently I can choose from a bunch of games to get with it for an extra £10.

Interested in - RRP:

Tetris - £25 (yes thats right)
Brain Age - £17
Sonic Rush - £25

other choices are pretty weak - I will probably get brain age considering my interest in the other two is kind of weak. but that represents a small saving.

I posted earlier about how everyone should seek out PW & TC no matter what. Well, I'm back to say I just scored a copy of TC for a friend a few hours ago after calling half the stores in my area and finding only two copies (one which was snagged by another pal yesterday). I went ahead and took the plunge and picked up the other copy, since it's so rare now (even Atlus' website doesn't seem to sell it anymore). With ordering PW last week, I've gotten two of the rarest games in one week with just persistance and $70 down the drain. So the games are out there. Don't give up, they are worth the trouble, even if you must eBay.

As Big Bank Hank said: "I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but I like hot butter on my breakfast toast!" Hell, maybe I DO mean to brag and boast. :D I've been casually looking for these games for awhile--and they're not even for me. I just feel that strongly about folks getting to play them.

Funny how you Americans are scrambling around for a game which is readily avalable in the UK! I should start some kind of delivery service for you guys (we get nicer casing too!)

:lol

UK casing is disgusting, unless you are from Japan then yeah you win

It looks horribly flimsy and cheap, clear plastic?

huh? Japanese casing is the same as US isnt it? Dark grey, thin, cheap looking. Reminds me of the cheapo genesis cases and their ilk.

UK one is clear plastic yeah, but its thick, feels nice and expensive and looks bright and clean.

Which store would this be? It's been years since I was in a Game or some other place.

It is not run by any big company, it is called "The Zone". It mostly a music store that gets in a few games and marks the prices down if they dont sell all the stock...

Can't you widen the choices a bit? What are the other choices? I normally would have gotten Sonic Rush out of those, but the GAF verdict a couple of weeks ago was that it sucked stinky balls... So go with Tetris or Brain Age.

other choices were kind of crap...metroid prime is a decent mention but I hate fps.

Pfft. Sonic Rush is badass. GAF thought NSMB was weak too.

Tetris lasts forever and is awesome. Brain Age lasts about two to three weeks (although, who knows, you might want to start playing it regularly when you're 65 or something) and is great, but not awesome.

I just bought a DS Lite with Castlevania. Do you need to charge the DS fully before playing it?

EDIT: Also, how does the Wi-Fi work....do I need to be near a hot spot or will my DS notify me if someone is playing the same game near me?

to end the story - I ditched that order and went to another store where you could get any game you want - result? TRAUMA CENTER due to all the plaudits it gets on here.

GAF wins again.

Great choice, congrats!

I have a long plane trip coming up. I would like to purchase a DS Lite console and possibly three video game units which I can operate for my personal enjoyment to pass the time. I am considering the following -

New Super Mario Brothers
Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Meteos

Which three video game units should I choose from the above selection?

Advance Wars on its own would see you to Japan and back.

AW, NSMB, MK.

Animal Crossing is more of a commitment.

I saw some video reviews...Advance Wars and New Super Mario Bros are a lock. Mario Kart feels like...'been there, done that', Animal Crossing is a bit of a gamble and I don't think Meteos really interests me.

Animal Crossing is more of a commitment.

Yes! Man, I used to play it everyday but I let it go for a few days, then weeks and then MONTHS. Now I'm afraid to go back to my town without setting the date back for a bit and replaying to catch up and avoid weeds and people moving out. Weaksauce, I know but I had my town in such pristine condition.

It's amazing though, a lot better than the original and lots more to do. However, it's more of a day to day thing than something you usually play for super extended periods (although I've played for hours at a time, just rarely).

Mario Kart feels like...'been there, done that'

Dunno if you wanna skip it. I think it's the best Mario Kart yet. So polished, so many tracks new & old, more balanced characters, new features like mission mode and WiFi play. I still go back to play time trials, something I've never done on any previous MK, and anytime I get together with friends who have DS's that's usually what we go for.

I hear Meteos is great too from friends, but I have no personal experience with it. If you've seen it available it'd may be worth getting as it's becoming rare and you could prolly eBay it if you don't like it & get your $$$ back. Just saying.
