ss_nsmb_pre07.jpg

+ age of empires
+ Castlevania DoS
+ Animal Crossing
+ Mario Kart
+ kirbys paintbrush
+ Tetris DS

All set

the games that i've been loving have been:

Castlevania: Down of Sorrows
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Phonenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Tony Hawk: American Wasteland (<--- really awesome on handheld)

the games i know i must get, and i mean MUST

the new super mario bros.
tetris ds (played a friends, and it's awesome!)

- Good call on AW DS, I've only played a little of it but I love it. It's great.
- Phoenix Wright is a must have - NCSX.com says they'll have copies available at the end of May. Get one, you'll thank yourself later. If you hate it, you can always get your money back and then some on eBay or somesuch.
- NSMB is AWESOME. 'Nuff said
- Castlevania DoS is a must get if you haven't played any of the series in awhile.
- Trauma Center makes most/best use of touch screen, is very unique & hard but you'll keep coming back for more
- Brain Age is only $20! And it's addicting and good for you too!
- Wario Ware Touched! Is a LOT of fun and is another game that makes great use of the touch screen
- Mario Kart DS is the best MK yet and another must own

Other games that I own that are a little more subject to taste are Animal Crossing (better than GC version, with all kinds of cool additions like costumes but the best addition being Wi-Fi play) and Sonic Rush (some think it's too hard and not a good Sonic, but if you're up for a challenge a little different take on the series you'll find it's prolly the best one that's been released in awhile).

Games I need: Ossu! Otake! Ouedan! Metroid Prime Hunters (now that I have high speed at my place) Tetris, Princess Peach and Kirby.

I may get SM64DS too eventually based on some of the things said in this thread.

Don't think Oendan and Bleach have been mentioned that much, odd as I thought Oendan was the prevailing DS favorite. It's awesome on the lite, btw, a friend of mine couldn't beat the very last level on the hardest setting (teh girls) but beat it easily with the lite (he said he could actually see it, lol).

I wholeheartly endorse-
Mario Kart
Castlevania
Phoenix Wright (more of an interactive comic than a game, though)
Advance Wars (my favorite on the ds)
Oendan
Bleach
Meteos

I like-
Brain Age
Sonic
New Mario
Mario 64
Wario Ware
Kirby
Tetris
MP Hunters

I'd say definetly, at the very least it's gonna be hard to get a hold of soon enough. I've not seen a copy for months.
Shit, I just saw new copy at a local Gamestop and didn't pick it up. Didn't know it was that hard to find. I'll go get it tomorrow. Does Konami make like 2000 copies of every GBA Castlevania or something? I thought they were trying to fix that with this double pack.

goddamn the DS is a monster...and so much more to come...and so many great GBA games I will never have time to play.

*hugs DS*

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney is completely essential if you have any history with old Lucasarts games like Monkey Island and Sam & Max. Not the same gameplay, but similar humour.

Mario Kart is second only to SNES Mario Kart.

I've yet to play NSMB or Princess Peach :( :(

1. Trauma Center - Just got it Friday; easily my favorite DS game. It's absolutely phenomenal.

2. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

3. New Super Mario Bros

Kirby Canvas Curse is still my favorite DS game to date.

Trauma Center gets ridiculously hard at the end of chapter 2.

Bubble Bobble Revolution is an update of the classic arcade game, Bubble Bobble. In this DS exclusive version, Bub and Bob tackle 100 all-new levels with a larger playing field, as well as all-new methods of attacking foes, such as the Rolling Bubble, which lets your dino trap themselves in a bubble and bounce against the walls, knocking out any enemies.

The game also features use of the touch screen, which is used for a bonus game where you must turn on fans to keep bubbles up in the air, and the microphone, which you must blow into to briefly activate fans in certain stages. Included as a bonus is the original arcade version of Bubble Bobble, but unlike Bubble Bobble Old & New for the Game Boy Advance, this version does not include single-cart multiplayer.

* 100 new exciting levels to explore.

* All new power bubbles and bubble attacks.

* Microphone activated challenges and Bubble mini-games.

* Dual screen action and multi-player mode, 2-4 people - friends can play!

* Includes a perfect re-creation of the original Bubble Bobble arcade machine game!

My list:
Castlevania: Just awesome. My favorite since SOTN
New Mario: I don't know where these haters are coming from; this game is really really fun
Kirby: One of the best implementations of the stylus
Meteos: A really fun puzzle game with tons of unlockables
Phoenix Wright: This game... just try it. It instantly became one of my favorite handhelds.
Advance Wars: If you've played previous AW's, you kinda know what you're getting, but it's still awesome
Brain Age: I'm serious. It's actually pretty fun in spurts, plus the Sudoku is pretty fun and relaxing

Tony Hawk American Sk8land
Lost In Blue
Electroplankton
Polarium
Pokemon Trozei
Puyo Pop Fever
Feel The Magic-The Rub Rabbits
Lost Magic
Snowboard Kids
among others.
get get get

Bust a Move DS is actually a lot of fun - The Slingshot maneuvering works VERY well [hell of a lot faster too], and all you really need is Puzzle and Endless modes anyway. Who plays Bust-A-Move for the story?

Music is catchy too - though I don't know if tey're just tracks from other BAMs [Any idea?]

Shame Bubble Bobble DS is so damn ugly. How's Rainbow Island Revolution?

Trauma Center
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Meteos
Lost in Blue --> only of you like the topic of running ashore on an abandoned island.

I disagree, I love all Lucasarts adventures, but couldn't get into Phoenix Wright. I found it very boring, sold it after a few tries. Probably "too japanese" for me.

Damn, am I the only one who doesn't like Phoenix Wright?

Yes.

Daigasso! Band Brothers is really an enjoyable music game, despite the number of "eh" Jpop/anime tracks. It's fairly import-friendly; I don't know Japanese at all and it wasn't hard to figure out. I'm looking forward to trying the midi composer. YesAsia has it for just over $40.

Also, the original Ouendan will only get harder to find from here. Elite Beat Agents will be worth getting, but the original was AAA material.

No, I Gamefly'd it and returned it after I solved the first few cases. It wasn't that it was too Japanese (I love Ouendan) but for some reason it just didn't grab my attention. Possibly because it was so hyped on GAF :D I'll try it again someday and probably love it.

Think I go add CastleVania, Kirby and Peach for launch next my NSMB. Hopefully that reprint of Wright around 14th is true and I give that a go. Now is there ever any hot DS deal on older titles like this or should I expect to still pay $30-35 each for older DS software?

My GF picked up a DS Lite for me today at Target, so I'll probably buy a few more games off Gamefly in the next few days. I still havent played Resident Evil, and it looks like its only 19 dollars.

Kinda frustrating. It's all touch screen based, you drag your little dude trapped in a bubble around the levels avoiding spikes and such. You can draw rainbows on the screen to kill enemies and often find secret little items for points. But it doesn't respond very well.

Graphics are a massive step up from Bubble Bobble Revolution, which had that ugly grainy look. =\ Music's really well done, too. If you can live with some cheap deaths at times, it's pretty fun. Oh and it doesn't include the original Rainbow Islands, which is a bit of a downer seeing as both Space Invaders and BB Revolution included the originals.

From this description, am I to understand that AAA = superior quality, Killer App = high desirability and probable system-seller, quality notwithstanding, and of course AAA Killer App = both?

couple questions

since the DS lite is backwards compatible and I missed an entire generation of GBA games, what should i get in terms of gba games?

im probably going to get castlevania double pack and drill dozer. should i also get kingdom hearts: chain of memories? any other suggestions?

and can someone describe the hours of playtime/replaybility you get from:
Animal Crossing
Advance Wars DS
Mario and Luigi: Time
Kirby Canvas Curse
Pheonix Right
Sonic Rush
MKDS
Meteos

How about Golden Sun, Fire Emblem and Harvest Moon?

I'm so dissapointed Monkey Ball Touch and Roll didn't use movement like Pac 'N Roll. It would have been a very different game, but it suits the handheld a hell of a lot better. Monkey Ball is incredibly hard on DS :\

I saw NSMB on a display DSL today. It looked Fantastic. I know I am going to wait on the GBAnext2.0 before I buy like I did the DS that is for sure. :lol

Yes.

Although, Brain Age and Animal Crossing are really good--just more like A and AA, respectively, than AAA. Can't comment on Nintendogs, though. I never cared about it; I just know that others do.

Animal Crossing: Three months, about a hundred hours. May last longer for some, shorter for others; probably significantly shorter for those who played the GC game.

Advance Wars DS: A hundred hours at least. Replayable just about forever; I might have never stopped if not for Nintendo's November 2005 flood of GBA/DS stuff.

Mario and Luigi: 16-20 hours to beat it; no reason to play it again since it's linear.

Kirby: Varies. Maybe like 5-6 hours to beat; I never want to touch it again, but there are others who can't stop.

Phoenix Wright: Haven't played it, but I would imagine it's pretty linear.

Sonic Rush: Don't know.

Mario Kart: Infinitely replayable if you have friends. If not, online is hampered by snakers.

Meteos: Dozens of hours to unlock everything, replayable pretty much endlessly.
