Not an easy way,but have you tried the gamestop/ebgames.com store locator? one of my local gamestops got a used copy in *great condition* and I only payed $20.

If you want it new,its ebay or bust I think at this point,till ncsx restocks.
 
I finally got around to starting Lost In Blue and I'm probably having more fun with it than I have with any other DS game. You'll want to stay away if you hate micromanagement, but the sense of progression and accomplishment that this game gives you is pretty cool.
 
Thanks, I'll check my local EBs for it, but I'm nearly sure they're gonna charge $50 for the damned thing.

Any reason why Amazon.ca is saying Trama Center isn't coming out till November? :lol

It has them all, mind you, there's no dumbing down with the single-cart multiplayer as well, you just have to wait a long time for it to load though.
 
With everyone getting DS Lites as their new handheld, it's come to my attention that a lot of people are going to be using different friend codes when online.

So I decided to completely wipe the boards and start fresh, since there are also a lot of new members on here. Just re-enter your data if you're using the old one, and put in the new info if you're using the DS Lite. Maybe with the newfound Lites people are getting, people might also be re-interested in playing some online matches. I dunno.

What's the deal with this friend code stuff? I onyl have NSMB at the moment, but I'm getting Tetris DS probably this week. Do I like enter a friend code when I first go online with that or something? Do I get assigned one? I don't get how online with the DS works. And I'm not even sure if it's working with my wireless router or not.
 
You get assigned a code when you sign on, you have to go through the setup. From there, you give everyone you want to add you your code, and vice versa. It allows you to match up easier when looking for a game. It's really cumbersome as well.

I ordered once from toysnjoys six or seven years ago. They were pretty good, fast shipping and all that. Just haven't had the need to order from them since.

Although I own a decent number of DS games, I can't say any of them are worthy of buying a system for.

So I'm gonna do it; the extra 20 Gamestop is giving for a console (i.e. my old DS) trade-in convinced me. Gonna trade in my original and put that money to the Lite. :)
 
EB/GS have a buy 2 get 1 free for their used titles right now. i bought castlevania, mario kart, and advance wars. still looking for phoenix wright and trauma center used.

It is good for what it is, not as good as the console versions though, fewer enemies on screen.
I dont' own/haven't played Sega Casino.

Is it a better DS game than Ouendan? No. The touch screen & second screen isn't really necessary, whereas in Ouendan those features are integral. Ouendan definitely has better presentation and audio too.

But as a pure rhythm game, I find Daigassou more fulfilling and way more challenging than Ouendan. On Pro mode, the strings of notes you'll have to pull off will fry your brain. The awesome thing about Daigassou is the ability to wlan multiplay with up to 7 other DS owners. You can play 8 different instruments to contribute to a song like a virtual band/orchestra. To me it's the ultimate multiplayer experience. The fact that you can compose your own songs in addition to the 37 on the cart is bonus.
 
How is Prime Hunters? I've finally taken the time to setup my wireless router properly as an access point, so I should hopefully be good for Wi-Fi play, which is why I'm re-considering it. However, I'm still primarily interested in how it is as a single player game. Anybody want to give impressions on both the single player and multiplayer sides?

Also, how is Electroplankton?

Single player - Not that good, very unexciting and very repetitive at times, lacks wide-open spaces.
Multiplayer - Suprisingly fun and works really well, though theres some unbalance between the characters (darn Trace players and Deathhalt).

If you get MP:H for multiplayer reason only, its worth it (the best Handheld FPS i've played), but if you're looking for Single and Multiplayer, the single player section won't be as thrilling as the console versions.

Oh, and get prepared for cramped hands.
 
My recommendations from best DS game I played to worst:

The Great

Mario Kart DS - I really enjoyed this game because its probably the best single player Mario Kart thats out. The game is also quite difficult too so its not like Mario Kart 64 where you can practically coast along to get all Gold trophies. Played online six times where snaking idiots ruined the whole damn thing. I don't know how the scene is now but seriously, thats all most people were doing. 8.5/10

The Good

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - I'm not a fan of Metroidvania and to be honest, this one was well done but not my cup of tea. Still, it has a lot of room to explore, some challenges, some critical thinking moments, and was the best Metroidvania I've ever played and that is counting Symphony of the Night. 7.5/10

Super Mario 64 DS - Adds 30 new stars and a bunch of mini games. People might be afraid of the lack of analog stick but they're pussies. The D-Pad works quite well. The 30 new stars include some hard challenges. There are some added bonus levels that are really challenging too to get the stars from. With NSMB out, I'm sure that game is better but it would be foolish to pass up on this game. 7.5/10

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - I hated how a lot of the game recycled things down to the letter from Superstar Saga but the game was pretty enjoyable. Its pretty short but artificially made longer by enemies with ridiculously high HP. Fortunately the game is easy so you can learn all the tricks. By the end of the game, you should not receive a single point of damage. 6/10

The OK

Yoshi's Touch and Go - At the time, March 2005, the DS was so starved of games that I bought this the first day. Its a fun but difficult game that is pretty much arcade like in structure. However, if you so choose to buy this, don't get it at full price. It has a couple weeks of gaming juice at the very most. Then you'll forget it and move on, trust me. With better games now, there isn't much excuse to get this game but still, its not that terrible. 5.5/10

Advance Wars Dual Strike - Advance Wars with barely evolved gameplay. Kind of like Advance Wars 2. I think Advance Wars is Strategy RPG for Dummies so I don't think highly of this game at all. 5/10

The Bad

Wario Ware Touched - Few good things can be said about the game. Pretty much in the same position as Yoshi but only not fun. 4/10

Phoenix Wright - I'll never get the love and attention people give towards this pile. 3/10
 
The Experiment, I dislike your taste in Nintendo DS games :(

I recommend Kirby Canvas Curse! This was actually my first Nintendo DS game and I didn't really like it at first (dunno why), but now a few months later I really enjoy it. I have just finished the main game and I have acquired all medals. Now it's on to the hi-score heaven in the Rainbow Run option. This game and it’s mechanics are the ultimate proof that Nintendo (and other developers) truly can adapt old-school franchises to the Nintendo DS and make 'em innovative and fresh.

I think it's really good, but only for certain people to fully enjoy. Beautiful graphics and wonderful sounds. It's really relaxing -- something you can play in bed with headphones on. Underrated, imo.
 
My top 10 would be:

New Super Mario Bros. - Amazing game. Great fun for either a quick 10 min play or longer play sessions. Brilliant level design, fantastic play mechanics and feels really rewarding. The best DS game and the best 2D platformer since Yoshi's Island.

nintendogs - I love this game so much. I have such enjoyment from just playing the game without any particular goal. A very different gaming experience but still brilliant imo, although it's not for all tastes.

Animal Crossing - Another brilliant game, similar to nintendogs in the way you can have great fun by not doing anything specific. The game creates a great feeling of living in a real, virtual world and is very addictive.

Mario Kart DS - The best Mario Kart game ever and one of the best multiplayer experiences.

Ouendan - Simple, addictive, compelling and great FUN!

Tetris DS - The best version of Tetris I've played, some great additional modes and fun multiplayer.

Band Brothers - Excellent game, especially multiplayer, but it's not import friendly without a FAQ.

Advance Wars DS - Another fantastic instalment of one of the top 2 strategy games ever imo (the other being Fire Emblem). Simple to play, great depth, lots to do, and some fiendish maps. The developer, Intelligent Systems, manages to cut out all the boring, tedious bits from other SRPGs and distil the essence of what makes the genre great into the Advance Wars and Fire Emblem series. (Best played with traditional controls, not good use of the stylus)

Kirby Canvas Curse - One of the first games to use stylus only, well. A brilliant platformer with excellent controls and really enjoyable replay for collectables.

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - The best Castlevania game ever imo with great atmosphere.



- Brain Age is also good and worth considering.
- Metroid Prime Hunters has great multiplayer but the single player isn't good and the controls, while accurate, are uncomfortable.
- Mario and Luigi 2 is pretty good, but not as good as the first or the Paper Mario series.
- Pokémon Link is decent, more if you're a Pokémon fan.
- Yoshi Touch n Go is pretty good, great use of the dual screen and stylus.
- WarioWare Touched is fun, but not as good as the original or the brilliant Twisted.
- Meteos is also good but a bit too hectic imo.
- Super Princess Peach is okay, but sometimes a bit dull.
 
so uh wth is Ouendan anyway? you guys have been saying how awesome, addictive and japanese it is but what do you actually do? i hear its a rhythm game and thats about it

One of the best games on DS. No need to ask, just buy it.
 
I've got a $10 Gift Card kicking around that I got when I purchased NSMB, and have been trying to figure out a way to use it. I considered Big Brain Academy, but it's definitely not drawing me in very much, which leaves me in an interesting predicament. Part of me wants to upgrade to a Lite, but it seems to financially stifling, and unnecessary to a certain degree. I think I'll probably hold off.

However, this $10 Gift Card is burning a hole in my pockey, and NSMB is slowly winding down. Therefore, I have two options. I either get back into AWDS, or I pick up a new title. I'm leaning towards Metroid Prime: Hunters and Tetris DS. With Gift Card, the prices on these would be $29 CDN and $25 CDN. Anyone with any real opinions? Neither of these games screams BUY ME for me, but I kind of want something to play at the same time. It's that or wait for other summer games...of which there are none.

You could've used the $10 giftcard on NSMB when you bought it. :)

I say you get back into AWDS but if you really want a new game from the two you listed then I'd get Tetris DS. Then again, I prefer puzzle games.

...Okay, seriously, why does nobody ever mention this? This was the only information I needed to consider buying the game. I mean, the praise is high enough and the price is right and I like music rhythm games, but I just couldn't get past the idea of playing as male cheerleaders.
So--yeah. Female characters better be in Elite Beat Agents too, or I might just import Ouendan instead.
