DS Lite Thread: Pixel Stuck, not Dead.

Just take that shit back, get a new Lite.

I don't usually care much about dead pixels, but the first Lite I had had one right in the middle of the damn touch screen.

Took it back, exchanged it out, got a shiny new dead-pixel less (so far) Lite.

Well my stuck pixel is in the left hand corner, I only see it if the screen is all black, its not something worth taking back. HOWEVER, if I can fix it why not.

There was only a program for that problem for the PSP, the DS not so much, unless you have a flast cart I'd imagine

it wasn't a program, it was a video. it didn't work for everyone, but some people claimed to have success with it.

regardless, you'll need to import a Play-Yan if you're going to play the flash video.

My DS has one pixel that gets stuck blue sometimes. It doesn't show up on a black screen, but it seems like if it's told to show a certain color, it will show blue instead. If the screen shows all white or all black, the pixel shows the correct color. It's odd.

A coworker has a stuck blue pixel, and it only gets stuck when it shows blue initially. From that point forward, it gets stuck on blue.

I have on DS lite with a stuck pixel just like yours.

I tried the program that flashes the screen very fast as they say it fix it. I let it 14 hours running. Nothing Changed! :(

cant youjust massage a stuck pixel and have it work? (yes im serious)

I've heard that works too. But you'd have to take off the screen on the DS, as I've only heard of this done on LCD monitors.

I had a red pixel that would disappear (and turn to the right spot) if you put pressure on that spot, which was really weird. I pressed and held it long enough for it to 'kink' out and not be red anymore.

Why obsess over this? The pixels are small as f uck. You have to really be looking for it. With all the other 'defects' the DS Lites have had as of late, I'm afraid exchanging it for a new one would introduce some other annoyance.

Sometimes they're extremely noticable. I had two pixel problems on my DS, one was one stuck as white that I barely saw, even when the screen was black, but the red dot I saw was huge and I saw it all the time no matter what was going on on the screen.. Is it possible you can have a stuck 2x2 pixels?

Heh, I made that app.. :D
And yeah, you can find more of my homebrew stuff here: http://www.zawiarr.com/NDS/
</shameless selfpromoting>

Regarding the issue, as long as the pixel is stuck (ie. locked in a color) and not dead (black) using a app like the one i made should work (no guarantees here of course). If its dead then it's nothing you can do exept try to get it replaced or something...

I have a stuck pixel in mine and I tried to take it back to Gamestop, (I bought a warranty on it too) and they were giving me shit and wouldn't take it back. I don't notice it much nowadays but still...

Do stuck pixels heal over time?

I had the same issue at GameStop with regards to the stuck pixel...**** those bastards. I called and reached the same person that just sold it to me 10 minutes prior and she gave me this huge 'tude and told me she wouldn't exchange it. I decided that day I'd never shop there again.

YOU HEAR ME GAMESTOP?? **** YOU AND YOUR SHITTY POLICIES!!

In any case, Nintendo apparently has a zero bright dot policy with regards to stuck pixels. I haven't tried it, but it's posted here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/ds/trouble_spot.jsp

We suggest you use your system for a few weeks to determine whether this interferes with your enjoyment of game play. If, after using your system for awhile, you feel that this tiny dot is too distracting, the Nintendo DS does carry a one-year warranty. We are happy to inspect and, if necessary, fix your system at no charge within the warranty period.

For the most part, I never notice it unless I'm looking for it, so I've held off from using the warranty.

Yes, they can heal over time. The clue is to play games that swap colors in the affected area alot, as this is the only way to 'shake' it loose.

sooner or later your pixel will die too

Mines so hard to notice im just being a little bitch about it haha.
No, it's alright to obsess about it. Just think about all the other people with perfect NDS Lites, then think about how yours is. Its your duty to fix it.

Does their warranty specifically state that dead pixels don't apply? Either way, I'm mag rack tilting.

That's what the people at Gamestop said, that they will only take it back if it has 10 ore more dead pixels... yeah I was so POed I was about to do a little magazine rack tipping of my own :P

If you guys are really ticked about it, just call Nintendo and tell them you have like 3 dead pixels and they'll send you a new NDS Lite. They have a good policy. :)

I had pixels that were both broken on my ds a few months ago (new mkds bundle) and tbh any pixel thats stuck or broken is a pain in the arse, hell the screen is only 240x180 or whatever, but then I had resident evil ds so anything stuck or broken was realy bright over the dark graphics.

Bring it to EB Games, they'll probably swap it for you (if they have any)
