Ducktales Remastered is leaving the digital stores

i did not enjoy this game. the constant pausing and listening to dialog or seeing a map or looking for a waypoint etc. all these new game elements felt shoved in there. the NES game is a pure stream of arcade action, you just pogo through the game. this was too stop and start for me.

if you never played the original tho, it may be really awesome. graphics were pretty good and the voice acting was excellent. i just couldn't stand playing it =-)

No, my point is, whether you are a physical or digital buyer, you can still get a game once it disappears from store fronts. You are not losing out either way.

I don't need to pirate or mod any hardware to play used physical games.

Forever sad this didn't get a physical release, not even from the "limited print" boutique sites:

Certainly a great collection. Most likely the Disney IP would prevent a physical release without more fees.

I don't think you are understanding my point.
Consumers are not missing out on anything if they choose to go digital. There are still ways to get games if they are no longer for sale on a digital store front.

Unless it's an indie game or some dlc, I never like buying a game digital, mainly I like human interaction at gamestop's or sometime Walmart, oh and I can sell my games lol.

Have this on the PS3, forgot I purchased it. Never played this version, should give it a go soon.

Meanwhile, no more DOOM classic complete on the PS3/360.

You have to suffer through the junk ports in current gen for up to date classic Doom console games.

So Bethesda lied about the delistings being an accident?

Of course they did on that. They had to rework the code to fix it.

Didn't the login screen say that login was required? If so, that's no accident. I wonder if people ever got their Fallout 76 bags. Bethesda is so dishonest.

I feel really relieved I bought the physical PS3 version of Doom BFG edition very recently at a discount. I honestly didn't expect Bethesda Zenimax *wink wink* to do something like this.

Same, got my physical brand new for like $10 at Best Buy a few years ago. Need to finish it up soon.

Played and have it on the PC back when it first came out, as well as the OGs in the 90s, but still like to play other versions such as that PS3 one.

You won't be able to buy it anymore when the store goed offline like the Wii store earlier.

My goodness, the all digital future is pure garbage. For the convenience of not having to put a disc in a system, throngs of gamers are giving up what little power they have.

I love physical copies. I will continue to buy them. Being at the mercy of these digital delisting decisions is ridiculous.

I didn't like the remaster anyway.

taking away the ability to re download games you own is a very very good reason not to go digital.

However...

I have a 400gb memory card in my primary switch with all the games on it ready to go. So many games just ready to go. We have another switch with them all installed as well.

The idea of going to get a cartridge each time I want to change a game is ridiculous. Completely changes the experience for me.

It would be nice if platform holders made it mandatory for the products they sold to remain available to purchasers to re-download. Not saying mandatory for them to sell after licensing deals expire. Just to allow prior purchasers to re-download what they purchased.

At least you can download games delisted on PS4, don't know about Nintendo o Microsoft

I have it on the Wii U, but got it on Steam for the heck of it. 3.74 is a good price. I can't remember the last time I turned on my PS3, so yeah.

I can't wait Stadia :messenger_winking_tongue: I redownloaded on both of my ps3s. I remember how shitty is to scroll trough my whole download list to find an unlisted game. I did the same with Scott Pilgrim and Duke Nukem 3d too

No, but you'll still be able to get the game and play it digitally.
No that is what I mean. You need a digital platform like a store to download the game you bought. When the store is not accesible, the digital games you "own" are thus also not accesible. This is what happened with the Wii store. I don't expect the ps store or Xbox store to go town any soon. But if it happen you can kiss your games goodbye. There are pro's to digital gaming. But there are many significant cons at the expense of costumer friendly policy.

If the PS Store for PS3/PS4 every gets shut down. I'll still be able to acquire my legally purchased games through other means.

Aw, man. Too bad, I really like that game and ironically, I recently played it again for the first time in like three years or so. I have the Wii U version, so I guess I better make sure never to delete it... a freaking shame this wasn't ported over to Switch.

But what in the case of the game having been hidden on Xbox? Since it won't be listed in the store and it's hidden, theoretically there wouldn't be any way to download it at all anymore, right?

It's in your ready to install. Right in your games and apps. Any game you own is there. It's not hidden at all.

OP worded this in a way that made me think it would be in-downloadable even if you own it, which bummed me out. But the blog clearly says you can re-download whenever so there's no issue here at all.

Yes, but games on the "read to install" list can be hidden, and when it's hidden in that list *plus* in the store, there's gonna be a problem..
I literally just showed you how to unhide them. If you don't give enough fucks about a game you bought that you hide it and don't know how to figure out how to unhide it, you aren't very likely to miss it.

I think he's implying he's ok with pirating a game he's paid for previously. It's the only way I can interpret the post.

That is correct, if I can't access my digital games through the digital store front it's the only way to get them.
It's the same with games from the 8/16/32 and even PS2/GC/DC/XB era that can't be purchased anywhere or any more. Whether you buy the game 2nd hand or acquire it by downloading, the copyright owners aren't receiving any money what so ever. If you have the space and want to amass a physical collection, go for gold and buy 2nd hand copies of games. If you want to keep your library digital, go for gold and acquire them however you can if they aren't available for purchase.

Interesting topic of discussion for this.
If people could start selling their digital copies, do you think the system would take off? Why hasn't this been possible? Surely Steam can implement a way through it's marketplace to swap digital rights to games?
Can the console manufacturers work out a way to do this,?

So wait. If the game doesn't exist anymore and you don't have it... is it OK to download a pirated copy of it?

MS has already explored this option once or twice (in surveys). I think the biggest barrier is offering something to the consumer that isn't insulting, while also keeping the publisher happy.

Seems those 2 groups don't see eye to eye.

No.

If it didn't exist there would be no copy to have, so you ruin your entire argument in your first sentence.
