The XBLA port of Duke Nukem 3D is to include some new features intended to spice up the classic run 'n' gun 'n' make-sexist-pun gameplay.

First up is the ability to record and share video clips of multiplayer games and share them with other players via Live. This is, frankly, genius - multiplayer was always Duke 3D's ace in the hole and the ability to record your friend's humiliation for posterity is an excellent idea.

Secondly — and slightly bafflingly — the single player elements of the game will incorporate a 'time rewinding' mechanic that we assume will be like that found in Prince Of Persia - Sands Of Time or perhaps Braid. Whether this is intended to make the game a bit easier or just to allow you to replay a particularly explody battle is unclear. It sounds a bit unnecessary, but perhaps it will all make sense when we actually see it.

Duke of persia? :P

Incredible game back in the day, and held up to the 3D Quake quite admirably, which was a testament to its awesome gameplay. The time-rewind is a strange and bizarre touch, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays.

Time rewind feature is cool, it keeps me from dying. Duke 3D can be pretty tough at times.

I'm considering buying this, but I'm not sure. I've played the shareware version (which is the first chapter) a couple months ago after having not played it in a decade, so I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay for more of it. On the other hand, it is a great game and I remember episodes 2 and 3 to be great. Plus I've wanted to be able to look up and down! The game came out in that awkward transitional period when devs were just finding out the joys of keyboard + mouse. Since many levels in Duke 3D have a great amount of verticality, it was kind of awkward to control at times since it had lousy mouse support. I'm sure they fixed this in later ports/patches/mods or whatever, but I've never played it that way.

I am not looking forward to searching for coloured keycards in those huge levels without dnclip, though.
