Dun duuun - The December Numbers

Yeah, so? Don't think Halo or GTA are guaranteed their current successes next time around. Mario 64 sold 11 million, but it's sequel only got 5 (course, I still believe this is due to other factors, like the game's quality).

I'm 100% certain that at least in the case of Halo, its success is guaranteed the next time around. To at least match Halo 2 over the lifetime of 360 console. It's gonna be the biggest hyped game of all time possibly, with the biggest advertising campaign we've ever seen for a single title. Mark it. Also, coupled with Halo movie cross promotion...

...yeah, this game I'd call it now to be a guaranteed success ahead of time.

Hmm, I suppose you're right. MS doesn't really have anything to fall back on, so they will definitely hype the fuck out of Halo 3, maybe even moreso than 2.

Halo 3 will easily surpass Halo 2 sales.

With the movie coming, Halo 3 will probably end up going down as the biggest gaming event of all time. At least in the USA.

That will depend on how soon it arrives. I'm sure its lifetime sales will equal or surpass 2's, but if it arrives when the 360's install base is, say, 5-6 million, it'll have a tough time having a better launch day/week. And if Bungie does manage to have it ready to launch vs. the US PS3 release, that will put a big damper on Halo 3's ability to sell systems, I'd think.

I expect it'll be later than either of those scenarios, though, truthfully.

I still can't believe they're making a Halo movie.

Well, I can believe it, but I just can't believe that Mr. Bole didn't get his hands on it.

I agree with the last part there, but I think it'd outsell Halo 2 opening day/week. Halo 2 sold what, something around 2.5 million it's first month right? Let's say at whatever point this is there's 6 million 360s in the US. At this point it's still largely the hardcore gamers or the people with money to blow, and those are the exact people who will buy that game. I mean damn, if CoD 2 has a 83/92% (depending on what numbers you use) attach rate, even with a lot more systems available, you've got to imagine Halo 3's gonna come through pretty well. I mean fuck, Halo 1 & 2 are pretty much the only real reasons I bought a Xbox and still have it. Plus if it does wind up coming out sometime late next year (unlikely), that's going to be a huge system seller as well. I'm obviously not a huge Xbox fan, but if I had to choose between a 360 + Halo 3 and a PS3, I'd take Halo 3 (unless PS3 launches with something insane).

RE2, RE3, and C:VX (not labeled PS2) are all for GC, right? Are they still fucking $40-$50, because I want to pick them up.

Also, do you have numbers for older RE games?

I wish I still had the very last spreadsheet GAF got - January 2003. I'd then start all over and see what the total these days is.

Sad. :lol

Those were as of Jan 2003, when RE0 had just been released. RE0's sold another 220K since then.

For those who are sore over the NPD tightening or are just looking for a good Excel document that tracks videogames, sign up (for free via email) for my TEVS Document. I created it 4 years ago and for the past 2 years have been sending the documnet out monthly to over 60 people online. It tracks videogames sales of all the consoles, multiplatform titles, graphs and the whole she-bang. A few people from Gaming Age forums already subscribes, and I'd love to expand the list with more people all the time.
Either email me at mukkeyisso@yahoo.com, PM me, or list your email for me to add to the address book.

Does anyone know what DDR Extreme 2's LTD sales are? I know it had a horrible start, but it was only out for a few days in September so it might've sold better in November and December.
