Dungeon Fighter Online is back! New characters Dark Knight and Creator available!

I believe it gets given to the first character you log into, so watch out for that.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

So hey I recently re-jumped into this game when I heard it was going through a straight-up resurrection on Western shores. I used to roll Blade Master in old Nexon-era DFO.

Now I'm rolling Male Striker and oh jeez I'm molasses compared to everyone else here

Quick dumb question: judging by all these alts some people here are pimping out, I need to know if Fatigue Points are per account or per character?

It's per character or we wouldn't have all these alts lol.

It's something like 30.

What? Megaphones appear in all of my chat windows.

RxD8VJ0.jpg

sorry for reposting my image, but yeah megaphone does have its own chat window.
However this all depends on how you have your windows setup.

I already have so many characters and they're all characters I want to play....I guess I'm going to have to resort to my good ol' paladin to level to 70 because at least he'll be "useful" in [random] OV parties with minimal complaining (but guild squuuaaddd)
I'll level a Chaos Knight out of obligation and a Male Striker too I guess.

Welcome to OBT2!

A few events to note:
Pets and a Level up event in DFO!
NCMFNTu.jpg

-Only 1 New Character can Participate in this Event (however, if you create 2 new characters you will see that both of them have a challenger title within the character selection screen. Still unsure of how this works but will update later.)
-Rewards that stand out:
  • Tiger Capsule Vending Machine - Stats! And 5% to summon Cool Ice Tiger
  • 100 Mileage Pouch - Required to buy permanent avatars (NO STATS), 100 Milage for a piece at Cash Shop
  • Creature Upgrade Coupon SD Danjun - Pernament Danjun Pet that goes past Beta
  • Greedy Accessories (from Event Accessories Box) - Aids in Rare/Unique Drops! Town Movement Speed is just an extra bonus (suggested to wait until higher levels to open it, Not confirmed if accessory box scales with level yet)
  • Copper Safe Upgrade Kit/Inventory Expansion Ticket (Bonus Rewards) - You won't ever have enough of these.

Towers are back!
tLmzrTu.jpg

Towers are majorly self-explanatory. They do not require FP to run and give a nice experience bonus. There is a limit to how many you can run, most towers you can run 3 times a day with the exception of Tower of Despair. Your stats are modified in Tower so don't surprised that your numbers get higher.
Notable Things:
-Reduced Level Requirement for all Towers
-Alter of Ascension drops "Heaven's Medal" to buy sub equipment from Abello (Profession Teacher). There are 3 Sub Equipment Cards costing 400 medals each, focusing on either STR, INT, Casting/Attack Speed
-Seal of Despair obtainable form the 100th floor of Tower of Despair allows you to buy Hero's Pot from Simona, Hero's Pot contains a 100% Epic Item, the string is that you can only complete one floor a day unless you buy Simona's Gift (3 Invitation of Despair). This is extremely hard starting from floor 95, I'll let you be surprised yourself, just be warned.

Free Unique Weapon!
7I4Lg3H.jpg

When first logging in to your character, you get a box called "Growing Weapon Case"
euXY7ve.png

While in this box it can be transferred to any other character so no fear about having to log onto your first character to get it. The weapon grows along with you until level 67. Dragon Tears are obtainable from any dungeon and once 100 are used on your growing weapon - it turns into Dragon Weapon. A permanent level 67 Unique, with a +4% damage buff. With this weapon you pretty much don't have to change your weapon (since the level cap remains 70) for the rest of OBT2. You can reinforce this weapon as far as you like but keep in mind that nothing is given to you once it's broken (This chance occurs when going over +10). You can not transfer the weapon once this box is opened.
*Use a Keledio box after upgrading your growing weapon to a Dragon Weapon if it is not Superior Quality*

Other things of note from OBT2:
-Mileage is introduced, it is a different form of currency that serves to buy Cash Shop Items. To obtain mileage, doing dungeons above Level 20 allows you to obtain mileage in portions of 1. Each finished dungeon will give you 1 Mileage point while you can obtain up to 30 a day. When CERA is purchasable (real life money assumption), 1% of all your CERA purchases become mileage as well.
-Avatars are not permanent unless a golden ticket within the Cash Shop (click Point shop on the top left) is purchased for 100 Mileage (and can only be used on 1 piece per ticket you would need 800 to keep an entire set.. These Avatars have no stats and serve purely as cosmetics. It is suggested that you just skip over these and spend the mileage on something else, but if you like the set piece that much that much then by all means go ahead.
WxagzGC.png

While the description states avatars, someone else has experimented with the one day pass on one specific item and only that specific item was extended by a day. Thus, to permanently keep the entire set, you would need 8 different perma tickets totaling in 800 Mileage.

-Knight class is out with 2 sub classes.
  • Chaos controls minions (you can even kick them to explode on the enemy for fun!) and is purely fixed. People will hate you in PvP simply because it's mechanics are very unbalanced. Only able to use Short Swords.
  • Elven Knight is a %class which is considered OP but extremely hard to play to be effective. Only able to use Zanbatos

-No more free FP pots from the CEO, but they are purchasable using Mileage in the Cash Shop.
-New characters receive a 156(Full) FP recovery pot
-No more Bug :c, Mi~mi~mi~ lives on in our hearts. No more bug pots, and playing "kickbug" in Seria's room
-Leftover Danjun coins from OBT2, can still be used to complete Seria's quests from OBT1 (Expand Safe/Inventory/5 Keledio Boxes). Otherwise it can be "opened" for 1 mileage, reinforcement sucess potions, or elixirs that can buff your stats for a period of time.

Have fun dungeon fighters ( •ω•ฅ), remember to dream4u and not burn out.

Thanks for summarizing the news.

Not sure what I'll do for the level up challenge... I think I can pretty easily hit 61 with a new character in that time frame even on a class I'm not crazy for, but 70 might be a stretch if it's not a class I fall in love with.

Don't think I'm going to have very much time to play today :(

B-but the mileage pouch!

Having a full time job (meaning only time to burn FP on 1 or 2 characters in an evening during the week) combined the fact is I already made all the characters I really wanted to play lol (besides fslayer) and want to keep playing them is really stifling my desire to try out new characters and commit to something I'm not sure about. I do still wanna try grappler or maybe a lawn chair. There's also the possibility that I just make another
elementalist
because the one I have right now is kind of "stuck" in a static leveling party that doesn't get together daily and I'm thirsty for that high level archmage.

I don't really like playing chaos but everything is murdered within milliseconds and it doesn't drop off because the fixed damage ratio is ridiculous

Is there a lot of F2P stuff in this game?

E: Also, is there a good class primer? I can't remember what I played when it was under Nexon control.

Oh lord, thanks for the writeup Inverted.

I don't know what you're asking in terms of F2P, mind rephrasing your question?

Also, yeah. DFONexus should have some pretty good guides in terms of characters, or you can snoop around on reddit. If you need any specifics on characters just ask here.

I don't remember how OG DFO was, but using MapleStory as an example (since it is a Nexon game and DFO was a Nexon game):

In MS, you could buy cubes to try and add bonus stats to your gear. The bonus stats were things that could literally break your character into god tier (+10% dex, +20% boss damage, etc). On top of that, you could use items to "protect" your equipment when grinding it up in strength so that it didn't get destroyed (which was required to get max equips because to hit max grind, you had to beat out a 90% failure rate).

I don't like the F2P games that reward those who dump tons of money into them. Or worse, in the situation surrounding MS, you really can't do the end-game boss content without god tier equips (and as such are required to dump money into the gacha style upgrade system).

OK dumb question time....what is Mileage and how do you earn/obtain it?

The situation in korean DnF right now:

You buy avatars, pets, item expansions, chest expansions, item expansions, etc. You can even buy increments of gold in DnF (where gold is pretty useless because the only gear you need is lategame canonlygrindfor gear). You can buy the highest tier of avatars for real money, but they're untradeable and cost a ton of money.

Neople tried pulling bullshit like paying to stop your weapon from exploding, but that literally killed off more than half of the population. They still haven't recovered from that exodus, so they're scared to pull stupid maplestory-esque shit.

Overall the system isn't pay2win, it's pay2advantage. Avatars and pets give insane stats, but you can buy them in game with gold. (albeit with a large ass premium).
To be honest with you, I've played DnF for a few years on and off again and I spent around ~20 bucks and eventually I earned enough income each day to just buy whatever I wanted. This game's endgame is based around how much time you invest into your character, not real life money. (avatars help tho)

OK dumb question time....what is Mileage and how do you earn/obtain it?

You earn mileage (or portions of one) by playing any dungeon above level 20. You use the mileage to make the temporary avatars you buy in cash shop permanent, but this will take hella grinding.

So if I want to use the new Knight Class and go with Chaos, what Dragon weapon do I go with? Growing sword, or Growing Great Sword?

Chaos: can ONLY use short sword
Elven: can ONLY use zanbato

Updated the write up just a bit after lurking reddit, /vg/, this thread (Hi Astarte)

Things found out:
  • You must buy separate extension tickets for each piece of a set, thus you would need 800 Mileage to buy enough tickets to keep all pieces in a set. Confirmed by someone testing the 1 day extend mileage ticket on one piece of the set.
  • Chaos class is only limited to using Short Sword
  • Elven Knight is only limited to using Zanbatos
  • It is pointless to use your keledio box on your growing weapon as the weapon automatically becomes superior quality once it is upgraded to a dragon weapon.
  • You can start earning mileage once doing dungeons above level 20 (in portions of one after each dungeon ran up to a total of 30 per day). Mileage can be used to buy FP pots or permanently extend the avatars given during OBT2, however it is suggested that since these avatars have no stats - it is better to use the mileage for something else. It is up to you however, if you like the piece that much then by all means...go for it.
  • Leftover Danjun coins from OBT2, can still be used to complete Seria's quests from OBT1 (Expand Safe/Inventory/5 Keledio Boxes). Otherwise it can be "opened" for 1 mileage, reinforcement sucess potions, or elixirs that can buff your stats for a period of time.

Feel free to list more things you found out about the game or that I missed/am wrong about. Also a reminder that if the game comes out of OBT2, I wouldn't mind making an OT for it (but someone else would have to host it). Also tell me your opinion on the formatting of the write-up through PMs/in this thread, I feel that it is kinda sloppy/rushed at the last section and was wondering how to improve upon it.

Also, avatars are advantageous in the sense that they are a way to increase Attack/Casting Speed since its somewhat harder to get these types of stats. This was my experience in Nexon NA, maybe it's different now.

I should've just expended everything on inventory and safe upgrades, smh.

So this level up challenge thing....Can you easily hit 70 during this event? Or should I pick a different level to "challenge"?

You'll need to play quite a lot to make it to 70 in time, personally I chose 61 because I just wasn't confident I could make 70.

Probably the better option. I'll take that route as well. :)

Starting fresh if anyone wants to PM me or whatever! Character name is illinia

Once you open the dragon weapon thing, it's stuck to that character? I opened it on my grappler but kinda wanted to do it on the knight I just made.

Yeah, I leveled my brawler to 70 fresh in OBT1 because my old one was the only one that was imported from alpha. I had to play every day, do tower of illusion/dead 3 times a day, buy fatigue potions from AH, use ceo fatigue potions....barely managed to hit 70 on the last day

Don't forget about useful skill upgrades and giant stat increases

Yup and that's why the Korean meta is so effed up. You need x avatar y chronicle gear Z reinforcment and the build and Neople's slapdash balancing and you really never get to see what some classes are capable of.

Elemental Bomber retooling didn't do anything for them apparently.

Thankfully, neople finally confirmed that M Brawler sucks. Wow, thanks neople you're instilling me with confidence that you'll do him justice. Meanwhile you shove F Fighter buffs down their throats and every male fighter minus Nen is subpar beyond belief. I'm still mad that I still can't find an OV party that won't kick my ass out with the recently buffed M Grap.

Avatar swapping, title swapping, pet swapping, chronicle swapping, weapon swapping...I watched my friend spend more time in his item menu than looking at whatever was happening in the dungeon lol

YA BLEW IT, IC

Ugh...I did it again...Where did I go wrong this time?

So...how do you make money to buy anything you want? Sounds...weird. Probably because I play Vindictus where spending money is also pay to advantage.

Eventually towards endgame gold..sort of becomes irrelevant except for buying hell mode invites. Everything just becomes "gear up kid because you're going to raid and do nothing but raid". You make a ton of money through farming materials in lategame dungeons and hellmode profits, so eventually everything just adds up.

So....characters gone again....

Remade a new account because of it, just incase something is botched with my account. They couldnt figure out why my elemental bomber was gone either after alpha but since its happened again I'm just lost. Started up a knight and have gone chaos for a farming mule, stupidly poweful class even at low levels, vagabond levels of bs.

Yeah, while a lot of people keep saying how Creator is a farming class, I think Chaos is a lot more...lol. After 40 Creator seems to feel lackluster and stuff takes a lot longer, while chaos is just facerolling everything with that stupid fixed ratio damage

I made a 2nd account to farm additional dungeons on my main via mentor FP and made a Chaos for that farming over Creator because it's even simpler to faceroll(as in, don't even need to touch keys, you just summon stuff then run around as everything dies, don't need a mouse). Class is pretty dumb. I mean I wouldn't play this as a main, but can't argue against it as a farming char. Funniest part is it's not even like the typical squishy summoner, it's a heavy plate user with an auto rez and shield block.

My new main leveling char though is Elven Knight. It's still kinda faceroll, but it feels pretty active at least. That said earlier I was in that mushroom garden map where there's those big insect guys that keep spawning until you destroy the hut, and the door bell rang so I had to go afk right as I entered the room. I came back about 2minutes later and I was still alive, with like 10ish of these insects up. Unicorn must have proced, I don't even know what it does since I've never died otherwise, maybe it killed a bunch of stuff or maybe it just protected me, but I was expecting to be out of the dungeon and having lost 4-5FP, but apparently going afk in the middle of a large amount of mobs is fine.

Started a Knight last night and got her to awaken as an Elven Knight before running out of FP. Such a weird feeling to be able to get that far in just a few hours.

What is FP? Is it something I have/can get to level up faster? I hit 11 on my F Mage last night. She's is squiiiiishy!

Fatigue points, look at the bar in you HUD. You lose some whenever you enter a room in a dungeon and when it's empty you can't play.(enter dungeons, thanks Omlet)

This is why a lot of people use alts.

I had to replay a dungeon because i didn't get enough Exp to level up and get the next quest while playing through the tutorial dungeons.

It's insane how strong and fast the Knight is.
Especially compared to the early levels of F.mage where even those little gnomes in frozen Luthor can bully you back to town :(

Remember to spam magic arrow because that's the best it's going to get. Though...You should atleast be able to advance in one day...

Most F. Mage classes are kinda painful until they get their spells later on. And get used to be squishy and blown up, because that's all i do. o.ob

Unlike the creator, chaos still goes on strong in the lategame. Sac bombing instant killing OV bosses lol

also MM spamming as mage in early levels is boring. Slapping on a spear and being a fakey battle mage is where it's at.

Yo, I Palm Blast like a pro when I play my non-BM mages lol

FMage classes are my favorite, ele and battlemage specifically. Squishy but fun!

I haven't decided which class to go with yet...I'll probably go Summoner because I love me some minion goodness. Otherwise, legit Ele and unleash the pain.

Is anyone else having problems with getting the game to launch?
I'm running on win8.1 and had to get the launcher to run in compatibility mode just to get it to update. Now when I login and click play nothing happens :/ tried taking off compatibility mode after update and still the same.
Haven't been able to play much lately but wanted to at least try out knight today T_T

Edit:welp got it to run fine on my surface so I at least have one way to play lol.

Being a real battlemage is even more where it's at. :P

Yeah but the fun's in having no super armor per x attack and dying in two hits!

Palm blast as ele op

Summoner has a MISERABLE time before you manage to reach louise. You'll feel like your mp isn't doing anything for you at all and that you're in perpetual thirst. After you get louise, spirit king, and get past fanatics (which is one of the worst maps in the game) it should be smooooth sailing.
