Dungeon Fighter Online (side-scrolling beat em up MMO)

Are the mass desync issues fixed now?

Yes it was. Nexon first released a patch that would stop people with bad computers/ping from playing and later on released a patch that upgraded everyone's firewalls, connections, internet and computer parts to be able to play without hindering everyone else. Amazing patch on their part.

Joking aside, no. The game is Peer-to-peer, so any problems in a PvP match or dungeon is due to someone's computer/firewall/best friend's grandma not liking each other. If you find it happens all the time to you, it could very well be that your computer wasn't picked to play softball with the other computer kids and doesn't wanna play nice now.

In addition, update hits tonight at midnight PST for 8 hours.

The new event quest gives avatar items with no stats on them but will stay with a character forever.
New shop avatar items and packs, whatever. Also new titles to buy with cash, psh.
Easier, slower monsters in the 1-15 dungeons as well as lowering the exp to level.
If it snows, you get bonus exp for 1 hour.

i could get addicted to the game but the frequent lag that plagues this game makes it hard for me to get to that point. It seems like it gets worse for me every time they do maitenance.

I really like the game, but there have been several maintenance issues in the last couple weeks and it seems to get more difficult to play especially after the "big upgrade".

Also I'm wondering what other players' experiences are with defects regarding content you buy, not just in DFO but other online games. I bought a couple items and they disappeared and I didn't get to use them, and they aren't saying anything about helping people out so far (ones who've lost content they've paid for).

Maybe it's too much to ask of Nexon but how do other companies handle this kind of situation and how long does it take?

I'd probably quit and play another game, but between my lack of a true graphics card and favoring real-time combat, the choices are limited. :lol

It's really a shame because this one issue overshadows everything else. :/

The game has been going down for maintenance a lot ever since they decided to upgrade the servers to handle the holiday traffic. So far, this new update is working pretty well, the only issue is the friend and block list aren't up, other then that, the slashed exp curve looks golden, now it looks like only half the exp is needed to level up, as it only takes me 500,000 to level from 24 to 25, before it was a little over a million.

I can't say I've ever had a problem with losing an item in an online game but I've had character issues and stuff of that nature. Might I ask what was lost? Your account should still have a history of the payment, I don't know if Nexon allows users to see it but they should certainly be able to check it, even better if you used a credit card so you have more proof if need be. Just file a thing with the support system and wait for a reply, it's really the best you can do and with the holidays coming up, the sooner you get that ticket in, the sooner it'll be looked it. That's all I got buddy.

Couple more question,

Is crafting even implemented yet? I know there is that "produce" npc that turn pick ups into what I imagine are usable in crafting items.

For the event, there is just one special mob per dungeon right?

The only crafting that can be done is from recipes you find that use those refined items you pick up at dungeons, like the bones or iron but no true crafting.

The all event monsters spawn randomly in a dungeon. Some times you'll find 1-2 in a room if you're lucky or none at all with a full clear. I normally get about 15 event monsters per character if I use all my FP.

I haven't played this game yet, but I wanna get into it when I fix my gaming computer -- I don't think my netbook will be able to handle it unfortunately. :lol

Guess I'll just lug around the random materials for now then. And yeah so far I've only found 1 event monster per dungeon =/

Was your netbook made within the last 2 years? Because this game's requirements are pretty damn low. Even a computer from early 2000 could run it no problem.

My netbook is an ASUS Eee PC 900 and it's honestly a hassle to do anything on it. I doubt I'd be having much fun playing the game on the small screen anyway. :lol I can wait a little while to fix my PC.

The game is only like 640x 480. So it'll look fine. The only thing you should do it remap the F1-F6 to qwerty or better yet, get a controller and use that.

Well got to 19 on my priest (through Shadow Thunderland Master's) still have yet to do a party and not sure how far I want to go before making a new char and waiting on the priest patch thing.

At 19 you should be at sky tower, doing Puppet Museum. If you really want to do a sader, just keep leveling up and switch at 25. Maybe even think about building yourself like a battle sader.

Like in this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvtw_d5i7lg

All priests should get a skill reset once the patch comes, it'd seem like a real dick move to have half your skills added in later on and not get a reset.

Oh I know I should be at Sky Tower, I've just been doing all the quests though so I'm still at Grand Flores instead. I think I finished them all though so should be starting on the Tower today.

I ended up repairing my gaming computer and it'll be a cinch playing it now. Thanks though. :)

I just started yesterday, but I found that I can't seem to get a decent grade on any of the dungeons. Is it just me sucking or does it get easier over time?

I wasn't getting good ranks (read: B or better) until Grand Flores dungeons. Depending on what your level is compared to the dungeon I generally find it easier to get better ranks on Expert/Master road because the mobs don't die in 2 hits so you can rack up triple digit combos.

evilpigking said:
sigh...#)_!(_#)# puppet masters, I can't S rank it to advance the Epic quest line =/

If you were on now I could get that S rank for you, no problem.

And to answer Wark's question, yes it does. You'll have better skills to combo with and a lot better understanding of what skills will combo with what. Toss in the cancels with higher HP monsters and you can easily get 65% style. I know how much people hate to go into pick-up groups but they really are the best way to finish tech and style quests when you lack a core group of friends to play with and can easily get to masters, if not kings.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I spent a whoe $25 nexon card trying to get the red Christmas suit for the Slayer, and the random lottery didn't give it to me.

You know, this method of buying avatar parts is really fucking stupid.

I have 3 olive drabs, 2 dark blues, and one light blue suit. Does anyone have a red one that they want to trade? I don't think I am going to try to get one, considering the cutoff day is tomorrow for those pieces.

oracrest said:

Yes, it sure is. Just wait till rare avatars get released. Oh boy. I really would like more stuff to do, it's pretty boring grinding out money in the same level 40 dungeons. The mentor system with guilds would be welcome as well.

New event and updates.

For people that doesn't want to visit the site
Maintenance Details:
- Time: Wednesday, March 10th at 12AM (midnight) PST to Wednessday, March 10th at 10AM PST

- Change List:
- Awakening quests are now available for Grapplers, Summoners, Blade Masters and Rangers who have reached level 48. Stop by your class trainer to start the quest chain.
- Awakenings for other classes will be introduced at a later date.
- New Avatar series has been added, including new Advanced avatars. For more information, click here.
- 5 Events related to Awakenings will run from 3/10 to 3/31. For more details on those, click here.
- A new dungeon type has been added - Ancient Dungeons.
- Two of these new dungeons are Vilmark - Area 50, located in Lorien and King's Relic, located in Slums.
- Channel tabs have been separated into East and West
- A new channel "Ancient Dungeons" has been added which will grant an experience bonus for the Ancient dungeons.
- New quests have been added from level 45 on
- Assorted text fixes
- Bug that was allowing certain players to spam Megaphones has been addressed

The new event gives bonus exp to anyone that parties with one of the four classes, you gain 10 reviving tokens instead of 5 from making a new character, if you job change to 3rd job, the awakening class, for one of the 4 classes you get a shitty mspaint looking title. And you also get a gift pack once you advance to 2nd job at 18. And if you awaken during the event you get entered into a contest for an item that'll redo an item's stats.

Oh and more avatars, if you're into that.

Hate to double post but a lot of activity has been going on in DFO.

First, DFO has a release date. Some time in the summer is what was said. Every class will be given their awakening, 3rd job, in sets and they currently have a poll up to vote for the next set of jobs to get an update.

As of now:
Berserker is winning for Slayer
Nen Master for Fighter
Launcher for Gunner
and
Battle mage over Elementalist for Mage but only by 2%. Witch was left out and will likely be last.

On that note, I believe Priest and witch will be receiving their balancing patches along with their awakenings last, the fact they are both not on the list helps to support this but whatever.

They've disable the n00b-o-meter for now to allow higher levels to party with lower levels without gaining this negative stat. You are free to help all your friends or receive help from anyone at any level.

Lady Arad here. Welcome to the first Dungeon Fighter Online Beta Journal. IÂ’ll be with you through these journals from now through launch of DFO this summer.

Summer 2010

Yes, you heard me. After many updates and months of testing, weÂ’re getting ready to launch Dungeon Fighter Online. WeÂ’ve got lots more work to do before that day comes, but weÂ’ve fixed our sights on Summer 2010 for DFO to walk out the door as a live product!

ItÂ’s been a long journey to get here. Those of you who have been with us through the extended beta cycle understand that better than anybody. WeÂ’ve weathered bugs and maintenances and put out some great content updates to get here. All the while, weÂ’ve put a lot of pressure on ourselves to reach our milestones on the way to launch. Taking a great game from inception to alpha to beta to eventual launch is all worth it on that magical day when you send something truly great into the world, the way weÂ’re preparing to do with Dungeon Fighter Online.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Putting DFO together is a lot like building a skyscraper. You canÂ’t just plop the pieces down any old way. You have to make sure that each piece is properly fitted in with its neighbors and can accept the weight itÂ’s being asked to bear before you can put another piece on top. We spent a lot of time just figuring out which sections of the game we would bring over and in what order we would launch them. While this was going on, we also had to make sure that the game continued to run and work like a self-contained experience while also taking into account the differing tastes of the Western audience.

If youÂ’ve been with us since the start of beta, youÂ’ve seen first hand the many changes DFO has undergone. The localization, game content, and even the leveling curve have been updated since launch. Content releases such as Dawn of Retribution, Threshold of Power, and now Rise of the Awakened have opened, and we have many more in the pipeline.

Our greatest priority now is addressing in-game latency issues, and weÂ’re looking at multiple solutions to improve performance. Part of the challenge has been that DFO was designed for Korea, the most wired country in the world. Localizing DFO for North America means improving network performance, and that is our biggest task left before launch.

The Road to Launch

The DFO team has established a road map that will take us through launch day. The first step has already been taken. We’ve just released the first set of Awakenings. These high-level skill and sub-class additions to the game are more than just awesome new additions, they represent the first element of true “end-game” content and a significant milestone for the game. Awakenings are something for the elite Dungeon Fighter to shoot for. If a massively multiplayer on-line game is a journey, this is the beginning of where you’ll end up – with the kind of awesome powers and great challenges that make this game so much fun.

This beta journal is the beginning of our countdown to launch. In these journal entries, we hope to share our team’s progress through the remainder of beta. For now though, the end – and the beginning – are finally in sight and we couldn’t be more excited.

I think that's about it.

And now to extend this post some more, one of the new dungeons.

The ice here sends you flying into the air, it's pretty fun.

Edit: Nope still blocks Japan IP's *sigh*

Why not play the one they got in japan? The NA version blocks everyone but Canada and the US, unless you wanna use a proxy to play.

Anyone still playing? I've got a Nen Master at level 27 that I just respec... I'm enjoying it so far, only being at Behemoth, wishing I had better weapons though. :(

I'll try this game tonight. How long does it takes to reach, for example, level 27?

I started playing around November or so, on a semi weekly basis.. I just hit level 27 about a few weeks ago, and I have one friend that goes with me on runs every now and then.... so I guess if you level hard it wouldn't take too long, maybe 2-3 weeks?

27? Playing every single day, maybe a week.

Day 1: 1-16
Day 2: 16-19
From here on it's about a level and a half a day with some newbie mistakes and backtracking tossed into the mix. You'll hit a few spots where you'll need to grind to the next level to get the next set of quests, that happens around 23 and 24. Once you hit 25 it's a ton of easy quests that you'll quickly burn through.

Holy crap, what the hell have you been leveling on? Playing every day will get you level 40 in about 3 weeks as long as you use most of your character's fatigue points on quests/leveling.

I just finished playing it and it's awesome! I currently have lots of materials, but no idea what to do with it. I really like the rating-system for each zone, add some replay value for the grinding. I'm kinda lost by all the quests available (more than our quest log can contain), and don't know where to go for most. I can see playing this game from time to time over the summer.

I have a weird bug when I mouse-over some items in the menu : I only saw small wide black bar and the engine start running slow. It gets back to normal when I remove the cursor from the menu. It only does that in some menu.

Ain't missing much. The current thing the Nexon people seem to be doing is talking about gold farmers and writing about how we should stop buying gold to make 'em go away. Oh and inventing a program to ban everyone in the game just for playing it, that was a fun day.

I started playing it this week (fun little time waster) and honestly thought it was the finished product.

I think saying that it was in beta was a graceful way of saying they fucked up with old experience caps, and misc other horrible aspects about how the game works, which they have since addressed.

It also had a "beta" when it first came out, and players were allowed to keep their characters they had used during that time.

More power to them, the concept is great, they just expected players to grind on it for more than what the game is, and they have lost a lot of players because of this I imagine. Most beat em up fans are used to blazing through the levels, and this game definitely feels like uphill molasses comparatively.

I would love to get to the behemoth stages, but I have spent weeks just replaying old tower levels over and over and over and over and over... and haven't picked the game up again in probably 4 months :/

That and their avatar customization setup is designed to get as much money out of you as possible. I have already blown money on a few nexon cards, and RARELY get the avatar piece I want with their lottery system. They should fix this too. As it stands, I will just not do avatar stuff, and stick with what my guy looks like now. Avatar customization is fun, but not hundreds of dollars fun.

Just started playing a couple days ago. I'm really enjoying this game. Beat-em-up MMO is a great concept and i'm glad it works out well. I'm a lvl 11 Priest (Chelzor on the Cain server) and i have a few questions:

1. When can i get my sub-class?
2. Since they game is still in beta, they'll let us keep our characters once the full game is out, right? I'd imagine so since players have pumped alot of cash into their characters.
3. Does soloing become impossible after a certain point?

It's not tough to reach behemoth nowadays. You'll still have to grind a few times, but nothing near as bad as it was before.

Hell, I'm not doing anything with my characters anymore till 3rd job or more stuff rolls out, could steamroll some stuff once or twice before I get bored again, since the noob meter is still down.

First off, I don't understand why people keep listing off servers when there is only one right now.

Anyway:
1) Level 18, you should job advance as soon as you can now. Stat growth changes once you advance. Before, it was almost unbearable to level once you job advanced since you had to give up all your higher leveled skills for a long awhile as you grinded up levels to learn the better ones in your sub-class, now you can level so fast that isn't much of a problem.

2) All beta characters are going to full release.

3) Yes it does. Solo'ing gets pretty much impossible on anything after 1st spine. You can still kinda solo normal maybe even experts, but that requires some skill and better gear then the old un-upgraded gear you got. Some classes have it easier then others. Like summoner, which is really, really boring but I can sit and solo the 40 dungeons on Kings without any help or potions. Granted, it's boring and slow but I can still do it, on my higher level witch, I can not solo very well, I just can't do enough damage to monsters with my current gear and the huge strings of misses I encounter all the time. It also doesn't help that the class is mostly fixed damaged so I'm pretty limited in the ways to increase my damage.

Don't get me started on the Ancient dungeons, super hard dungeons that normally require a whole party to clear, even on normal. Those dungeons require extremely good gear to solo, more so on kings road.

With that said, we got female gunner and thief class to look forward to, as well as the priest adjustment patch, mage/witch patch and gunner as well.

The tower of death, town pvp, guild battles, war zone, monster invasions and more. I just hope I can stick in there long enough to play the new stuff.

Well, the next set of 3rd jobs are getting released, as well as guilds. The awakening event is just like the one from last time. New avatars as well.

The sub-classes that can advance are: Berserker, Asura, Striker, Nen Master, Elementalist, Battle mage, Launcher and Spitfire.

Priest, witch, Soul Bender, Mech and Brawler will all likely get awakening at the end of May.

One more event is being held as well, the race to be one of the first level 5 guilds. A bit of explaining: Guilds in DFO are leveled by the memebers using fatigue points in dungeons that are around your level. The first five guilds to reach level 5 will get some shop potions and an item that makes you look like a monster in town for 5 minutes. Also, the amount of fatigue you spend counts for twice as much as it normal would for this event. In addition, the cost to start a guild is halved, from 300,000 to 150,000.

No pictures this time, I'm still waiting for the witch awakening.

A few new events are goin' on now, full release is happening soon in addition to what looks like a prelude to the female gunner's release.

The first is the standard "Get X amount of items from the dungeon and turn it in.", however, the rewards and the quest text hint at the female gunner, doesn't hurt that the full release is just a month or so away.

The next event is a race to 10,000 Facebook fans. All you gotta do it like 'em on facebook, or something, and once they hit a milestone, they'll make a post about it. Comment in that post with one of your character's names and you will be entered to win that milestone prize.

New advance and normal avatars as well as a special pick your own avatar event. The catch? The ones you buy are limited, from 7 to 30 days.

The last event is a nice one, whenever you finish a dungeon, you are given one extra card flip, good time to farm some extra cash or what not.

Also, as a report on the game itself. Some gold sellers accounts were banned but before that, the economy seems to be settling down. Good normal avatars are about 1-2 million, easily affordable by anyone with just quest and drop money by level 35. Crappier avatars are selling for as little as 75k, it's real nice. Weapons and armor are slowly goin' down, overall, things are looking alright.

If it doesn't pick up your controller in game, meaning allowing you to map the hot keys and what not, then you could always try Joy2Key and Xpadder.

Dont know if anyone besides me still plays the shit out of this game butttt the fabled "priest patch" aka "Act V: The Reckoning" went live yesterday... something I have been waiting for since beta since my main class is Crusader.

Patch notes: http://goo.gl/tm8G (too long to post inline here.)

--------------------------

If you didn't read or understand all that shit what you should take away is the game is a lot better now and worth a revisit. :)

I mean I love this game, its the only MMO I have ever kept coming back to. Even if I take a break for a few months, I always come back.

And yes, it is free.

Game was addicting and I will probably get back into it someday but for now I'm burnt out. Haven't touched it since mid-August. Spent more money than I wanted to on a shitload of tokens and touches and the difficulty once I reached GBL and Aphelia was just bonkers.
