Looked kind of underwhelming to be honest but I'm excited for some of the performances in this one, particularly Mark Rylance. I think why it looked underwhelming to me is that I kept getting reminded of Hacksaw Ridge's trailer which was damn good.
oddly disjointed trailer towards the end but two things:
- the cinematography is freaking beautiful. hoyte gonna bring the competition for sure next year
- zimmer's soundtrack sounds so dope. not what i expected for this movie, sounds like something more modern synth based. kinda glitchy, like johnny greenwood.
I hope they are. Would at least make it interesting to talk about later.
Not gonna lie, Nolan's post-Inception career has made me appreciate Inception a lot more.
Not the most compelling trailer if you do not already know the story of the battle.
this trailer was much worse. damn good war movie though, first half is schmaltzy and romantic and the second half is the scariest horror movie of the year. Andrew Garfield is an MVP.
When did Hardy and Cillian Murphy join this..?
Why not. We have seen now one teaser and one trailer and both of them have moments like this. I saw this when i watched the trailer for the first time. Abit baffled that Nolan thinks this is oke really.

Cant remember the last time I felt nothing at a Nolan trailer.
Actually. I'm fairly certain that this is the first time.
Yeah, but you can't properly tell the story of Dunkirk without also showing the Germans and talking about all the challenges they faced. We shouldn't let Guderian get away with his exaggerations!I'm talking about the allied side.
The French did most of the fighting and they were the ones who fought the german as the British evacuated (and a lot of them ended being stranded there).
That's definitely a Zimmer score.
There's not one film that doesn't have a bunch of errors like this. Fuck, there's an entire shitty Youtube channel devoted to these things.
Here's their video on Fury Road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBT4RmjFg_c
If something requires a frequently-looping gif that removes sound and context to be able to spot an error than that's a job well-done for the filmmakers.
Just FYI, the vast majority of the time, music for movie trailers comes from a trailer music library. Especially early trailers like this. So it's very unlikely that the music in this trailer is actually from the score. It could be possible, but it's not likely.
Did he say why he wanted it that way?

That tracking shot in Atonement is some impressive looking stuff, but I also feel like it's exactly the kind of tracking-shot-for-the-sake-of-tracking-shot that people to do flex their muscles and not because there's some deeper reason to it.

Can you really say this without watching the whole movie?
I have seen the whole movie. Although not that recently.

Oh wait, this is totally true actually.Innaritu is the worst with it imo. I can no longer be immersed by the scene when it's happening.
Not Nolan movies, that's definitely Zimmer.
The Inception trailer score was composed by Zack Hemsey.
Not really feeling this. Didn't think I would be saying this.
I love Atonement but it was distracting. It's a well done scene at the end of the day but I think many directors have done tracking shots at the films expense now just to impress us with a technical detail.

I mean you can see it's deliberate. The way the horses are lined up and the jeeps are lined up and the slow pan through the choir singing - and when you notice that stuff it stops your suspension of disbelief a bit. But I would still prefer an artsy five minute tracking shot than some exposition dialogue about how their stranded on this hopeless beach or something. That tracking shot in Atonement is some impressive looking stuff, but I also feel like it's exactly the kind of tracking-shot-for-the-sake-of-tracking-shot that people do to flex their muscles and not because there's some deeper reason to it.
