Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson covers up iconic Brahma Bull Tattoo

Did people seriously think about the old tattoo? I never even noticed it

In the old days, it was his only tattoo and we'd see photos of him pose flexing it. In truth, the symbol was only ever relevant in like 1999-2000 when Vince was super into every major wrestler having their only symbol to license and merch.

In fairness, too, he considers the new Tattoo to be the Brahma Bull for 2017. His other major tattoo is a Samoan thing, and it tells a large story. It should be no surprise that the dude who went through that had the other re-done to tell a larger story as well.

Clearly?

Gimme your eyes. #mana

The taste for busy ass tattoos like that is something I'm probably never going to wrap my head around. That new tattoo looks like a design on a shirt you would buy at a Wal-Mart.

Add that to the fact that every description I've ever heard of the meaning of a tattoo like that sounds like self-fellation and I'm doubly confused.

How did we go from wrestlers who look like this.

To wrestlers that look like this.

Wrestlers back then - did it for the drugs and ring rats.

Wrestlers now - IT'S MY DREAM TO BE A WRESTLER SINCE, EVER I WAS A CHILD! I"VE FINALLY DONE IT *cries after winning title*

Also The Rock has been dead for like 15 years, don't get why people are mourning this cover up as if now he's finally gone.

Sick tat though.

The Rock is amazing and this tattoo is beautiful. Dude is inspiring as all hell, does a ton of charity work, is genuinely one of the best people out there, and you all are fools.

Not a fan of the new tattoo.

The old was was tacky but iconic. This one is way too busy. I don’t like the art or anything really.

That post reads like the jumbo jumbo a company releases to explain a rebranding. Positive energy, forward thinking. 🙃

Outside of being iconic to a small subset of wrestling fans, let's be real the old tattoo looked like shit. It was faded, blurry, small and increasingly out of place on his hulking arms. The new one looks like some tapout/affliction shit too but it fits his image as a dudebro action star.

New Rock simply tries too hard. The rock of the late 90's is just cooler. Period. No one cares what you ate for breakfast or the sacred history of your mana-gathering bull skull.

I'm not going to go as far as to call everyone a fool but damn it's weird to see how people react to someone's spiritual side.

Maybe it's because I follow him on social media but the language used in his description is nothing new. He's spiritual and passionate about what he does and he seems to appreciate those parts of his culture.

We going to miss you bull, it doesn't look bad, but it does look.....overboard...I thought he would just update the bull, make it a little cooler looking, add more smoke, give it a touch up. Not cover up half of it.

Steiner had to get a big chest tattoo to cover up his deformity, assuming from Steroids. His chest was literally collapsing, his breasts were tearing apart - seriously.

You are right however I mean way before that. I recall him starting to get a few tats around the early to mid 2000s.

It's easy to see it when you are immediately seeing both images side by side...

Someone randomly walking down the street not familiar with it isn't going to see that.

It's like arguing how you know exactly where Waldo is because you read last months Highlights magazine at the Dentist's office to someone who hasn't had the chance to look at it yet.

Yea, this is probably spot on.
