Dying Light passes over 5 million units sold

The base game, meanwhile, has already sold over 5 million units since launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC in January, a milestone which Techland describes as a "tremendous success".

"To be honest, I think even we are a little surprised by the scope of our success," producer Tymon Smektala told VideoGamer.com at last week's Gamescom. "We knew that we'd made a good game. If you are a gamer, even if you make games you are still a gamer, so we know the game is good when you feel that rush when you play.

"So we knew that Dying Light is a good game, we know it's going to be successful, but that successful? We are in the 10 best-selling games in the US right now for the first half of the year, so tremendous success. More than 5 million copies sold."

Congratulations to techland! Well deserved and people need to play it best OST,great parkour system,day/night cycle (believe me you will shit the first night),awesome combat system and forging weapons also great atmosphere!

Solid game that launched at a perfect time.

I must be half way through the campaign and am enjoying the ride. Hopefully it develops into a nice franchise.

What? How?
The game just came and went like almost every other game and yet it sold 5 million? How crazy and awesome is that? This business is weird.

I got this game for 20 bucks with the GameStop glitch. One of the few games I've played all year that I wished I spent the full 60 on. It's worth every penny.

Deep Silver must be wrecking shit in their office right now.

Given both Techland and Yager repeated the same statements about their experience with Deep Silver, I don't get the impression they're a great company to work with.

No wonder Dead Island 2 is delayed for a long time now seeing how techland made dying light what dead island should have been.
They could have had that game too if they didn't insist Techland take a different creative direction to the point Techland went out the door and partnered with Warner.

Damn grats to them. Been meaning to pick this up, I brushed it off but it got a lot of good reviews. I'll pick it up at the winter sale or something, backlog is too big for now but I'm looking forward to playing it.

Still have to jump back into this as I only rented it back in February and stopped playing after getting to the second area.

Thats always cool to see developers reaping the rewards of their hard labor but boy I just don't understand the fascination with this game the zombie thing is just soooo overplayed now.

ugh wanna get the game on console but i dont wanna dole out 60 quid for it

can't afford to be splashing out on alot of games anymore full priced

Haven't played the game myself but it's nice to see a new IP doing well. Plus it's refreshing for a AAA game to be a success with 'just' 5 million copies sold :P

Their handling of the brand has been nothing short of terrible. They push Techland off and then Yager off of the sequel, but still release things like Escape Dead Island and that MOBA. They're a smallish publisher and managed to come up with a pretty big new IP, and just completely fumbled it for whatever reason.

It appears that Techland are still open to the idea of making DI2. At this point DS should be begging them to make it. It would instantly give fans of the series confidence of how it could turn out, plus it would give them free good PR by giving the game back to the original creators after they had a falling out with them.

I don't see too much incentive for Techland honestly. I can't imagine that Deep Silver can offer them a better deal than Warner.

I wouldn't be surprised if Warner even picked up Hellraid in an effort to keep them around.

RUN VOLITION RUN.
They're a wholly owned subsidiary.

Seems that they timed the release very well. As far as I remember it was Feb/March and there wasn't a lot of AAA titles on deck at that time.

They made a great game that would've likely been lost in the pre-xmas shitstorm so well played to them.

Got the game and the season pass for ridiculously cheap after "that" mix up.

I've yet to play it longer than the hour I've already played.
What I did play I enjoyed.

Trouble is I hate zombie games

So I have to psyche myself up if I want to play it

Well deserved..... A very fun open world game delivered with good graphics and performance across all platforms. Also good after sales support, patched in AF, improved performance and graphical features. Cd Project Red should learn a very valid lesson from this. Learn from these guys.
