Could bottom right be a metroid helmet?

I dont think we have all the specs for the sub controller. And also he could have used two main wands.
Sony did say the Navigation Controller wasn't motion sensitive. And the main wand has no d-pad or analogue stick of any kind, it would suck to use just wand motions for controlling motion.

I've never quite understood the aversion to the Wii controller or Move from the hardcore audience.

The Wii/MOVE design, to me, is actually the perfect template for future control schemes moving forward. It's versatile in its design so that it can be applied to pretty much any EXISTING genre of titles as well as applied to games designed more around motion control. I've also found that it's far more comfortable having the controller split apart into two. Now, for Natal, I can understand the aversion because I do not believe it's a versatile device nor can it be applied to existing genres. It's in a sub-class of its own, and for that reason I do not believe it will be the future of gaming control. It can, perhaps, be a component of the future of gaming control, but not solely by itself.

The level of motion control can stem from being very subtle (Mario Galaxy), to incredibly useful and precise (Metroid Prime 3), to almost entirely encompassing of the motion control technology (Wii Sports, etc).

The bottom line is that the hardcore audience can be served by using motion controls, and I see the main aversion to the controller coming from the example that Nintendo has shown, which generally skews away from the hardcore audience.

I see no reason why more hardcore titles such as Killzone 3, Uncharted 3, InFamous 2, etc. can't be greatly enhanced by motion control.

You don't even have to put much 'effort' into the motion, if that is your aversion. These games should be designed in a way to require minimal hand movement, similar to a mouse but instead of dragging you're pointing.

My only major concern is that Sony won't show off the motion controller's capabilities for new types of experiences or retrofitting existing hardcore franchises with the motion control capability, instead deciding to focus on a "Wii Too" effort that just tries and copies successful Nintendo franchises.
The Wii made an awkward offering of its motion controls - half-baked at launch, some technical issues (sunlight, 1:1), and shitty third-party and casual first party games. The hardcore audience, as you put it, hates it because: (1) they haven't tried it yet, (2) they didn't like what they have tried yet. Hopefully, Move will change those two points and motion control, in general, will be seen as a positive. I just hope Sony has more to show for Move than those PSWii games...

A Smash Bros for the 3DS. What has the Smash Bros people been doing?

Well, Sakurai is making his own game.
Game Arts is probably making a game for another studio.
HAL is... what is HAL doing?

So why are we looking at the New Super Mario Bros. Wii stuff from last year again?

GAF fails at context.

Does anyone remember when they used to have those little sections of E3 that almost no one previewed?

I remember seeing footage of Stage Debut (which never got released), Kirby GCN (also never released), and several other smaller titles from a small handful of publications, and almost no one else visited those kiosks.

This is my favorite part of E3. More! More!

Btw, the guy who posted the E32009 pic should be kicked in the nuts for derailing this thread.

I'm sorry that people on GAF don't bother to actually read a post or the context it was made in.

I miss Kentia Hall, home of little companies that couldn't afford the big-boys booths...

Oh man, I totally remember features on that area in PC Gamer I think. They used to have the craziest shit there.

Wasn't his fault.

Oh come on, you should have expected it. Your entire post was "I can see through her curtain! :O", quoting "E3 equivalent of porn", which quoted "The thread I was waiting for.", all after a bunch of pictures from inside the convention center had just been posted. Nothing in your post or the context hinted that it was an old image. Maybe it's obvious to you, but I even remember that old thread, and I didn't think it was the same one, because the pictures I saw of that one were a white curtain, not black/blue (possibly after they were retouched?)

Next thing we're gonna read about the curtain on Kotaku...

If they don't make a 2d smash bros ... people will die !

I mean ... this is something BEGGING to be made !
They already did with shonen jump characters the most hope would be for nintendo to sort out the licenses but probably won't.

Super glad they're going all out with Move. Definitely don't want a half-assed attempt with it as it's my most anticipated motion controls. When Wii is done right I have a blast but it just isn't done enough, I don't want an Eye toy repeat with Natal, so Move is where I'm at. :D

Convention center looks great as usual. Seeing it all fresh like that brings back memories. :lol

Is Suda's EA horror project going to be here? Besides that and Nintendo's conference, I don't really have anything to look forward to.

I'm dreading the inevitable 3D/Natal/Move focus.

It's not that there's anything inherently wrong with any of that, but man, I couldn't be anymore unexcited about it all. Thankfully Nintendo is actually looking to have a relevant lineup for once.

Theres like 12 games on that Wikipedia PS Move list, its gonna be a pretty moving E3.

The factv is, soon we will have had 2 interations of each of nintendo's hardcore 'holy trinity' each of which makes great use of motion controls. I cannot see how motion can only be classed as casual

I can barely contain my indifference.

no it really should not have been posted E3 drives people crazy the whole thread is going to turn into solve whats under the curtain

And they've been told countless times what it is by now.
I mean, I can understand getting lost in the excitement more than anyone, but at this point, it's pure idiocy.

Ugh.

You are derailing the thread more than the picture.

On topic: Any pictures yet of Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft's booths?

Not yet, they'll be some of the last, because they don't want their displays looked at to hard (for reasons I've already demonstrated in this thread it seems...).

:lol That image rocks.

I see GAF is in repetition mode already. That's the one thing I hate about E3, especially when the conferences are going on. It's 2 pages of the exact same post with everyone trying to post shit first.
