Sony did say the Navigation Controller wasn't motion sensitive. And the main wand has no d-pad or analogue stick of any kind, it would suck to use just wand motions for controlling motion.AndyD said:I dont think we have all the specs for the sub controller. And also he could have used two main wands.

More like a power ranger.
The Wii made an awkward offering of its motion controls - half-baked at launch, some technical issues (sunlight, 1:1), and shitty third-party and casual first party games. The hardcore audience, as you put it, hates it because: (1) they haven't tried it yet, (2) they didn't like what they have tried yet. Hopefully, Move will change those two points and motion control, in general, will be seen as a positive. I just hope Sony has more to show for Move than those PSWii games...Redbeard said:I've never quite understood the aversion to the Wii controller or Move from the hardcore audience.
The Wii/MOVE design, to me, is actually the perfect template for future control schemes moving forward. It's versatile in its design so that it can be applied to pretty much any EXISTING genre of titles as well as applied to games designed more around motion control. I've also found that it's far more comfortable having the controller split apart into two. Now, for Natal, I can understand the aversion because I do not believe it's a versatile device nor can it be applied to existing genres. It's in a sub-class of its own, and for that reason I do not believe it will be the future of gaming control. It can, perhaps, be a component of the future of gaming control, but not solely by itself.
The level of motion control can stem from being very subtle (Mario Galaxy), to incredibly useful and precise (Metroid Prime 3), to almost entirely encompassing of the motion control technology (Wii Sports, etc).
The bottom line is that the hardcore audience can be served by using motion controls, and I see the main aversion to the controller coming from the example that Nintendo has shown, which generally skews away from the hardcore audience.
I see no reason why more hardcore titles such as Killzone 3, Uncharted 3, InFamous 2, etc. can't be greatly enhanced by motion control.
You don't even have to put much 'effort' into the motion, if that is your aversion. These games should be designed in a way to require minimal hand movement, similar to a mouse but instead of dragging you're pointing.
My only major concern is that Sony won't show off the motion controller's capabilities for new types of experiences or retrofitting existing hardcore franchises with the motion control capability, instead deciding to focus on a "Wii Too" effort that just tries and copies successful Nintendo franchises.

Oh come on, you should have expected it. Your entire post was "I can see through her curtain! :O", quoting "E3 equivalent of porn", which quoted "The thread I was waiting for.", all after a bunch of pictures from inside the convention center had just been posted. Nothing in your post or the context hinted that it was an old image. Maybe it's obvious to you, but I even remember that old thread, and I didn't think it was the same one, because the pictures I saw of that one were a white curtain, not black/blue (possibly after they were retouched?)AceBandage said:I'm sorry that people on GAF don't bother to actually read a post or the context it was made in.
They already did with shonen jump characters the most hope would be for nintendo to sort out the licenses but probably won't.Platy said:If they don't make a 2d smash bros ... people will die !

It's not that there's anything inherently wrong with any of that, but man, I couldn't be anymore unexcited about it all. Thankfully Nintendo is actually looking to have a relevant lineup for once.
