• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

E3 2010 will be E3 of the forever.

The 3DS presentation is going to be interesting.

Are they going to tell the audience to put on glasses or something for the purposes of demonstration?

What exactly happened during Ubisoft's conference last year? I never bothered watching it myself, I just read GAFfers' comments about James Cameron being a windbag and talking nonsense for over an hour, or something :lol

all I remember is James Cameron talking for like three hours and then the next thing I know some guy is on stage screaming "COWABANGA!" at the top of his lungs.

Im gonna be the first one to predict: either MS of Sony will announce FarmVille for Xbox Live/PSN. You know its true!

On a more serious note: Interested in seeing (gameplay) footage of:
  • Deus Ex 3
  • Zelda Wii
  • Natal
  • Fable 3

And many more stuff i cant imagine/think off right now

Hope this means Nintendo has a crapload of content to showcase, instead of talking about 3 token third-party titles for a total duration of 3 minutes and devoting a third of the rest to Wii Relax/Wii Party, another third to the 3DS, and the remaining third to charts.

Don't get me wrong: I totally get why they'd spend much time talking about the things that are most important to their business, but it'd be nice if for once we got a handful of trailers showcasing a mishmash of first and third-party games. Doesn't matter if they're AAA, A, B, retail or WiiWare/DSiWare, just devote a good 20 minutes to them at least. They handled this well at E3 2006 in my opinion, but ever since that time Nintendo conferences have almost entirely shunned every game (1PP or 3PP) that wasn't poised as a big title.

Not even Joel Mchale was able to save it. It was the worst conference of all time.

Can't wait for the Natal reveal on MTV on the 15th, going to be great/funny to see how it is marketed for the show. Bring on Elijah Wood! :lol

:lol Maybe there will be 3DS under everybody's seats Oprah style.

Well Rare is going to have a huge blowout this year, my friend who used to work there before he went over to WB Interactive said they are preparing for A LOT of reveals at E3.
Wiifit clone incoming.

By all accounts, it should have been amazing. Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Pele were there... hosted by Joel Mchale. And yet...

They went 35 minutes without showing a single game. It was incredible... we were in full snark mode in the GAF thread. You had to be there to truly understand what we fucking endured. :lol

P.S. One of the funniest quotes i've read on GAF ever came from Guled in that thread.

Read the whole thread. You wont be disappointed.

probably 3D panels on seats for select media members and investors and demos after the showing.

But there's plenty of 3D display technology around, including 3D glasses (however ironic) that they can at least show some if not all the people in the room the demo reel the way it's meant to look on the final product.

i feel that the nintendo conference will mostly be spent talking about the mini game fest that is Wii Party... the announcement of that games existence the other week made me sad... then metroid: other m (wihch we've all seen enough of, but the delay has confirmed its E3 appearance)... then vitality sensor for a while... and maybe zelda will be mentioned at the end... just be prepared for all that so youre not disappointed.

Microsoft is having their presentation a day early right, on June 14th? I think I read somewhere that Nintendo and Sony are going with theirs on the 15th.

Rare still loses employees? :D
I hope Perfect Dark and Banjo&Kazooie were the last franchises that got screwed by them.

Nintendo has run 20-30 min short vs the others. Hurts in the battle of e3 as they just have less stuff by quantity.
As Ubisoft's conference last year showed, MS and Sony can just talk for 30 minutes to make up the difference.

Microsoft - 06/14 - Not sure of time
Nintendo - 06/15 - 09:00 am PST
Sony - 06/15 - 12:00pm PST

Is it possible that I got my Nintendo conference invite BEFORE Keighley?

Combichristoffersen said:
True. But at least Sega's made more than four good games the last 30 years, unlike Nintendo :D
I count two for Nintendo in this millennium. I think there may be a third one in a week or so. How's Sega doing?

unf omg that looks sooooo gooood!

please... no more teasing. I'm only gonna get hurt when all they show is Natal shovelware :(

If we do get some serious games from Rare, I'll bust multiple loads on my monitor :O

For now I'll stay pessimistic

I count one for Nintendo (SMG) and one for Sega (After Burner Climax) for the 2000-2010 period, so they're equal :D

Jokes aside, I've never been a fan of Nintendo's first party games, besides the first three SMB games, and SMG.

Sony going last, again. Hum...It's gonna put a lot of pressure on them, since we know that both Microsoft and Nintendo have so many sweet things to drive home...

I think Sony's is going to be packed full of awesome. Tons of stuff to announce.

Yeah, if only they had a motion controller, maybe a new PSP, 3D gaming, the most first-party studios of which a LBP2 and the most revered racing series ever to show off. :(

I think they'll do just fine... especially if VP of E3 awesomeness Kevin Butler is present some way or another.

You should give NSMBWii a shot. It's pretty up there on the pantheon of good games.

I played NSMB DS, and it was.. OK, I guess. Not bad, not extraordinarily good, just OK. Is the Wii version better?

I've never understood the thought process that leads to thinking conferences are the most important thing.

E3 is a 4 day event counting those conferences. Even if something isn't shown at the conference, but we get trailers or demos a matter of hours later, what's the difference?

Is it about winning or losing? The industry equivalent of spectator sports?

You won't see any of those games as all of them were cancelled.
In the last 5 years, counting Xbox 360 retail games only, they (or rather Microsoft) cancelled more than twice as many games as they released.

I certainly think so. I'm not sure about the gaf consensus though. I never bothered to look at the thread much. It's definitely a game that really shines when played multiplayer.

If they don't announce F-zero for the 3DS the world might as well end right now, it just seems like such a no-brainer and it would make a perfect launch-title.

Even if you play sp, it's miles and miles better than NSMB. NSMBWii can easily be counted as one of the better Mario games. Not quite the best, it's a bit too familiar for that, but very, very good indeed. I never even played mp and I think it's one of the best Mario games there is. The leveldesign is quite good, especially on the later worlds., whereas NSMB really wasn't that great at all.

They're really only related in art style.

NSMB Wii, especially when played in multiplayer (even with 2 players) is absolutely incredible.

That said the single-player is also pretty challenging, especially when going for the star coins. And the bonus worlds... awesome :D

Yeah, content-wise ... they shouldn't be too concerned.

As usual though, the question is how shitty will the presentation be? :lol

I think there's also the fact that conferences are a live event. It's almost like being at E3 for real. It's a bit more exciting when you're watching a conference waiting for megatons and awesome stuff to be shown. But maybe that's just me.
