EA going for the shitty three-peat (WCIA) [Up: Loses to Time Warner in first round]

Incidentally, it amazes me how people take this "tournament" seriously.

As an indicator of how unimportant entertainment fluff successfully distracts us from truly evil shit it's certainly eye opening. EA winning even once is completely embarrassing.

Yes, but in terms of which of TWC or EA being shitty affects me more, TWC is a way bigger pain in the ass.

I fully expect EA to beat TWC even though TWC is much worse! Bitter gaming fanboys will express their bitter fanboy hatred on the internet in full force again for the BS EA has pulled this year.

EA really has this on lock. Sims, BF4, Titanfall exclusive. GGPO. if they were smart, they would promote the tournament and try to win. that might confuse people or something...

I really can't believe people think EA is worse than Bank of America, Koch, A&F, Ticketmaster, AT&T, or Comcast. It's shocking really.

To a lot of people they don't even know the companies you mentioned nor does it have any relevance to them.

A lot of gamers are online thus a lot of gamers will vote EA the worse. There's nothing wrong with that, especially since we've seen how little it matters. EA enjoys winning as evidenced from last year alone, they went all out for us gamers.

It doesn't matter if it's serious or not. Voting for a company like EA is still telling about how much someone knows about the world around them. The poll gets news coverage (the poll isn't as insignificant as people here want to believe) and ultimately just makes gamers look bad. It does more damage to the reputation of gamers than it does to EA.

There are certainly worse companies than EA, but if they got it the last two years there is no reason for them not to this year. It only got worse.

Some of these contenders surprise me.

I mean, EA has got a tough fight first round, especially with how totally shitty Time Warner is every way, but Walmart?

Having actually done my fucking research on the company, they get roughly 1000x more shit than they deserve. They still suck from a supply side, but they are no where close to straight up anti-consumer bullshit as Time-Warner, Bank of America, Abercrombie, and Monsanto.

They deserve to get past round one maybe.

Microsoft pissed off a lot of people with the Xbone. Maybe they'll take it.

....nah. Battlefield 4 and SimCity say it'll be EA again.

And then people will whine for 30+ pages straight about a video game company winning a pointless poll that most people haven't heard of (which I'm sure is happening right now in this thread).

Isn't Mcdonalds largely responsible for obesity in the U.S. What about cigarette companies, how are they not worse than these other entertainment companies...

The frustrating thing about this poll, now, is that EA certainly should not win... however, they won the last 2 times and are actually getting worse, not better.

Don't know who I will vote for this time...

EA would be the most amusing choice...

Hrm.

It sucks to be Microsoft.

Neither Apple nor Google is even in contention.

And with all the negative feedback over the last nine months, I think Microsoft could challenge EA.

the last two times were just a warning!!! this time things will be different!!! #ChangEA

Haha. Indeed. Even if I wanted to vote as a troll, as some in this thread call the whole thing a joke that doesn't mean anything, EA didn't even do enough outright evil this year to even earn its place among its competitors. They don't deserve the win.

I'm rooting for Comcast, holy fuck have they gone down the shitter in years. EA has released several broken products in 2013, so they're a legitimate contender for once.

Meanwhile out of touch gamers will delude themselves into thinking EA is the only company that will try to actually change. Since that worked out so well the last two years.

Pointless poll yet you still take the time to make your voice heard about it.

Mate, it's too good to troll EA with this award. How can you resist? People should mobilise the Chans...

Thing is so dumb. There are far worse companies than video game companies.

Yup, lots of companies in this poll are much more deserving than EA. Y'know, companies that actually fuck over people in real life and not just releasing mediocre/crappy entertainment software to unsuspecting consumers.

EA will win this.

Obviously EA is not the worst company in the USA, but this poll is for the Golden Poo by consumerist and will change nothing. Note that the thread about it is posted on the Gaming side and not on the OT side. There is no interest in this poll apparently outside of gaming, so why would anyone expect Koch or Monsanto to win?

Seaworld might have a shot, if they get a some social networking drive going.

I'm guessing a group of nerds will continue to think making games they don't like with features they don't want is worse than wage theft by companies like McDonald's and Wal-Mart, attempting to pass far-right political policies, and the general screwing by the various banks listed.

Comcast should win.

There are so many more deserving candidates on that list that it would be sad if EA won again.

Time Warner, Comcast, or Verizon should take this.

Comcast might be worse, Monsanto is easily the worst of all though.

Worse than Monsanto?

Kinda weird USAir isn't on there

I'd give it every internet provider in America

they are much worse then EA

So Monsanto, Comcast, and Koch are in this too? EA better not win. Though it is weird that Time Warner is in it despite Comcast absorbing them.

Also, seems EA and MS are the only gaming related companies that are in the running this year

EA will win because of undereducated, angry gamers like the past few years.

All of this.

The hyperbole... EA has just a shit track record these last few years, including what they pulled with Respawn, but they are not the worst company in America, or even in the top 50.

Comcast and Monsanto should win. EA is awful, but not on the level of those two.
This. In the grand scheme of things, who gives a shit about video games when companies like these (and Walmart) are literally ruining lives? EA's had their turn, now people need to forget about the "EA is the worse company lol" meme and vote for a truly shit company.

I often hear that those far worse companies than EA don't care about the results.

But based on those 2 last years, you still think EA cares ? Hilarious. On the contrary, they care less than ever, especially when they win against Monsanto and cie. They just laugh at the retarded internet, and they should.

Money talks, it's the only thing they understand. But judging by the people buying all their games and begging for ports on their console (as for Titanfall), they'll keep laughing.

ITT: GAFfers insult EA voters, letting us know how progressive and enlightened they are to the world's problems in the most slacktivist way possible.

Here's my bracket:

I'm expecting Target's whoops sending the company to victory, across the usual suspects.
Thoughts on certain pairups:
Koch vs SallyMay and Comcast vs Verizon: Both equally bad, will make for interesting battles.
GM vs Chase: one has a nasty recall, one doesn't.
