That you're arguing a straw man. Nobody here believes EA is the worst company. They're treating the poll like a joke because that's what it is, A JOKE. It's called the Golden Poo award for crying out loud.
Of course not. EA beat Monsanto on their freshman year. The mass effect debacle hadn't even occurred yet.
This year is really the only year I could say EA is a legitimate contender because everything they did this year is far worse than anything that came before. Someone made a pretty good thread detailing EA has hit rock bottom a few months back.
They call it a joke but some of them say they know EA will react and it might change them. Explain that.

And you mean to tell me in gamer circles EA otherwise really doesn't have the worst gaming company reputation, and that EA, and not some other random publisher was put up for contest was all just a big coincidence? Yes, I realize this poll might be a joke, although the subject it isn't silly enough to suggest it is a joke poll. However it doesn't mean people don't convince themselves EA is the worst out there, people bring this contest up from time to time to remind us they are indeed the worst.

May there be some individuals that believe EA is the worst? Sure, that is possible. Do the vast majority of people, especially on GAF that are voting EA believe that? Of course not. Ive never followed any of these awards but always saw people being super serious about it and to prove their points in EA threads like the BF and Sim city scandals.

Keep dreaming. Law of averages guaranties there is atleast a small minority who seriously think EA is the worst. But I would be willing to bet almost half the people fall into that category. The only reason they are inspired to vote is that EA managed to win a nominee slot. If EA hadn't, they wouldn't know who to make their next joke vote because these companies haven't wronged them directly enough for them to even consider it.
They vote for EA because they are visible enough in their mind about things done wrong to them.

If you vote EA you have no sense of perspective and know little to nothing about the world outside of videogames. EA has made some really poor choices yes, but the pale in comparison to what some of these other companies have done, stuff that seriously effects the lives off innocent people around the world. What voting EA because of what they've done to your favorite franchises and some anti-consumer policies makes a moccery out of all the real hurt some of these other companies have done and it makes a moccery out of you.

Ahhh. Judging someone's social awareness and concern for the overall good based on how said persons votes in an internet poll for a golden poop award. Makes sense.
It's getting to the point where someone should just start their own competing worst company in America internet poll with blackjack and hookers.

It's not entirely a joke, consumerist blog advocates consumer rights. It's not super serious in the way that it will change the victor's stance, but they're asking (I'm assuming their target audience are people who take their rights seriously and read the blog often) who they think is really screwing over their customers. Even in the entertainment sphere I'd be a little more pissed off at TWC or Verizon than EA. The only reason I care is because this reflects back on people's opinion of gaming as a hobby and how gamers prioritize trivial things. News of the award does actually get published on non gaming outlets.

This is more of a joke. Do you think Monsanto winning this will change anything? IMO those companies that are truly bad deserve to stand trial for their actions and face punishment that is real. Companies like Halliburton who profit off of wars and were partly responsible for the gulf oil disaster. So don't take this so seriously.

Looking forward to voting for EA again, as they continue to fall further and further into the shit hole they dug themselves.
And yes, I'm aware many other companies on that bracket are far worse, I just don't care. I don't care because the amount of gaming sites and communities that circulate this contest means they will very likely see EA win this again. At this point, it would take a concerted effort from people within the community to prevent this, and at the end of the day, you just spent a ton of time to prevent EA from winning a pile of golden poo. Good for you!
