To be a devil's advocate for a moment I was thinking about this today and I doubt people up in this thread really care that a small handful of people are going to see the results of this and think "god damn gamers have no perspective'

because like they do and stuff but it's just a joke see

sure there are terrible companies on that list but it's fun to troll. <- the only reasoning I could possibly accept for this

I love how people say "it won't change anything to vote for Bank of America", as if by acknowledging that you can't change BoA or Comcast's horrible practices, it makes it less immature to vote EA.

Vote EA if you want, but please don't try to justify to me why you think you are a freedom fighter.

Because of Battlefield 4, I'm happy about this.

I know there are worse companies out there, but I wouldn't mind EA in the negative spotlight again.

Also, it's fun to vote for EA because they reacted to it, and it clearly got under their skin last time.

Both Sallie Mae and Target lost.

Didn't see that coming at all. I figured there'd be enough slacktivism about student loans that Sallie Mae would push ahead of Koch.
 
Most of the companies on that list are a complete joke compared to the ones that are literally ruining our nation's economy. EA getting any traction at all is a sign of whiny entitled gamers being louder and more obnoxious than the other voting blocs.
 
Call me uninformed but I dont know some of those companys. Koch Industries who are they? And why is Seaworld nominated.


Im sure EA will Win it again. With the BF 4 issues and Dungeon Keeper controversy.
 
Koch are the Koch Brothers. They basically are the owners of the Tea Party.

SeaWorld because Blackfish came out, even though Blackfish is apparently paid for by fringe groups.

Whiny, entitled gamers help make MS change their DRM policies for the Xbone last year, but yeah fuck those guys!
 
Where does the actual voting happen? Does it take place on the page linked in the OP? That page fails to mention where you can vote, it just says when the voting started.

This. Even though about half the companies in this poll should beat EA, Comcast is the only one that I think has a legitimate chance to do it. But they won't, because the people that legit hate Comcast are no match for the people that want to vote EA for a laugh.

Being that all ISPs are awful, the ire of the masses is getting split among all of them, reducing the chances of any one winning.

So you are indirectly saying vocalizing anger does help make changes and EA is the most deserving company for getting that anger over companies that have destroyed the environment or increased suicide rates, etc.

I get your annoyance with that other poster's flippant comment but you also reveal a lack of perspective with this response as well.

Well, if these "joke" awards actually translated into some lost sales for EA, that would force them to shore up their policies and game quality.

A lot more actual pressure needs to be put on the likes of ISPs (Comcast, Time Warner) and GMOs (Monsanto). And Bank of America in particular.

Do you honestly believe that an organization that was making a genuine effort to determine which company is the worst would include a company for making fun of fat people? Because that's the reason that both Lulu Lemon and Abercrombie are in the poll. Think about that for a minute.

It would help if you didn't try to put words in my mouth. If you read an earlier comment I made in this same thread, I put EA and MS in a group by themselves where other more legitimate companies worthy of the award were in another. EA is just getting jumped on for being the most visible company due to it's video game industry background.
 
i just dont get it. Why you guys think you have to vote for EA. NOBODY IS MAKING YOU BUY THEIR GAMES!!!!

Comcast is by far the worst company in america. They are the only carrier in most places so yes you are forced to buy their overpriced product.

Dont get me wrong..ea is pretty bad but this just seems to me one of those things people think its cool to vote EA, because everyone else votes them.

And you think this poll is actual pressure? EA at least bothers to respond to it. Comcast and Time Warner wouldn't waste their time.
 
EA is worst than their previous 2 years but they are in the death bracket. It would be hilarious if they make it through it.
 
I voted for EA because I don't really care and Time Warner Cable doesn't exist here in the UK. I know this is an American thing but I can't vote for what I don't know.

TWC is one of those companies along with Comcast and Verzion and AT&T that will go out of their way to make sure they are ahead in the form of going to Congress to press new laws that would only help them. In turn, it would completely fuck customers. Overcharging customers for shitty service and so on. EA has fucked over the consumers before, but these other companies go to Congress and enact laws that fuck over customers. EA is no where near that bad.

I am familiar with the who the Koch brothers are, but I am not familiar with the company and why they are on the list. Is it simply due to their political leanings?

even if time warner or comcast won, what would even happen? people act like this poll is much more significant than it really is. i see the term monopoly thrown around and i doubt any massive company with an internet service monopoly is going to care that people on an internet poll don't like them. internet/wireless providers are the most hated companies in north america. they know it. we know it.

there's also the fact that ea seems to actually care about this poll for some reason, as seen by its executives responding to it. negative perception has a much stronger affect on a company like ea whose products aren't a basic necessity (with plenty of competition).
