EA has no titles in development for Wii U

Conspiracy theories that can't be proven don't change the situation at all. I guess whatever makes you feel better but what will be the excuse next year when Activision, Ubisoft, and Warner also dump the Wii U?

Let me start:
Ubisoft: Nintendo tried to hire Michel Ancel after the Rayman delay.
Activision: Nintendo wanted Retro to make their own FPS.
Warner: Nintendo delayed Scribblenauts Unlimited in Europe for months.

Then take some other unsuccessful console ;)
Ouya is a pretty bad example as it's based on the highly successful Android and games are cheap to produce and as there are no distribution costs.
Yeah, I wasn't trying to refute your point. I'm just saying, don't lump the Ouya in with the Wii U. One of them has a chance at being deemed a success by their creators.

Well at least you don't have to worry about playing Mirrors Edge 2, Battlefield 4, Need for Speed, FIFA, etc.

I'm expecting a 'Meh, 2K games suck anyway', 'Meh, Bethesda games suck anyway', 'Meh Activision games suck anyway', etc... coming in the next year or so.
I don't think anyone has to worry about playing Mirror's Edge 2.

It's funny because it's true.

Exactly, they will go where they are most likely to make money... It's much easier to make money on a platform you own, than one you have to seriously compete on (see Sega and it's rough financials the last decade since dropping from console space).

Nintendo has no (serious) competition in the hand held space. iPhones will never be the go to for portable gaming, and Vita is the handheld version of the Wii U in terms of sales/support.

Handheld systems are dying, as demonstrated by Vita collapsing and 3DS being down constantly on last year. That entire business is being demolished and won't last outside of Japan.

I don't own any games by any of those companies, so yeah, I do think they all suck. 360/PS3/WiiU/PSP/DS/3DS owner, by the way.

Unfortunately I think EA is only the first of many publishers that will drop support for the Wii U.

I hope Nintendo and Wii U owners didn't expect any different considering how poorly named the console is, how it's more expensive than the other two consoles, how Nintendo has half assedly supported it with a mini game collection and a Mario spinoff only. Gamers also most likely have a fatigue of this generation of consoles, the last thing they're interested in is another retread of the current console generation.

The excuse that EA only supported the console with late and expensive ports is a poor one as well. Activision released BLOPS 2 almost day and date with the other versions and weren't they really disappointed by the sales as well? This is a Nintendo/Wii U issue, not an EA issue.

Standard excuse

From the reviews I read, Need for Speed Most Wanted was a fantastic game.

Sorry I own a WiiU and the thing is a trainwreck, after decades now you think they would learn that they need to cater to third parties more.

I pray they dump consoles in the future and stick to handhelds...and go third party on consoles only
It is and I bought it, but the fact is most people who wanted that game bought it 6 months ago.

The fact that ports were bad is Nintendo's fault to begin with because they sent out final dev kits late. Even their own developers were not able to fully work with Wii U because of it. So blame Nintendo for bad launch ports. If anything it shows how out of touch they are with the development community. Even if they did have better ports they wouldn't have sold much better because they were still on the PS3/360 and Wii U still would have bombed.

WiiU was in the 30k range?!?!

I heard 30-40k.

But they were all bad, Xbox 360 did 130k (60k? less than last month), we don't know PS3 numbers yet, Wii did better than Wii U, apparently the 3DS XL Pokemon color outsold the Vita, it was just a sad month, we don't know what the 3DS fully did yet.

I'm definitely not defending 30-40k because that's not a good number, but I don't know if it was because of the Wii U, or because they all sucked last month, games need to be released.

Nintendo is the big loser right now, I hate to say it. But other companies like Ubisoft, WB, Sega, Activision and maybe Take Two, can capitalize on EA's departure from the Wii U, and thus EA might as well lose some sales maybe not now but in the future it is a possibility. So both lose in my view, just that now Nintendo seems to be the one impacted the most and EA seems like the one who took the right decision.

After this E3 we will have an idea how big is this blow for Nintendo taking into account the whole picture, but I am betting they can somehow turn this aorund with games and a competitive price.

So this is a blow, you bet. Now personally I can live without EA games, the games I like the most from EA were ME and Fifa and I can surely live without them. I have BF BC2 and I like it but I barely play it, that is why I skipped BF3. Really enjoyed the campaign in Black Ops 2 and I am playing more quick CoD sessions or Counter Strike GO. Options, thank god for the options, that makes life easier without EA games.

For 3rd party I am really looking forward to Watch Dogs, AC 4, Batman Origins and hopefully CoD Ghosts and NBA 2K14.

Now personally, all this Wii U news is depressing, but I dont let that bother me, I am having lots of fun, and I dont feel the game drought.

Half of last month. PS3 is a bit over 100k.

Well to be fair, EA technically wasn't lying when they said they would have an unprecedented partnership with Nintendo. The precedent has been them making software for Nintendo, and now they are not.

Did Nintendo also force EA to announce ME trilogy for other systems right before ME3 for Wii U came out, then force them to price it at $60?

Did Nintendo force EA not to do roster updates?

A company made bad games and bad business decisions and somehow the only party not responsible is that company.

Maybe Miyamoto also snuck into EA's offices and redid all the Fuse assets?

What is your excuse with how poorly BLOPS 2 sold when Activision didn't screw up the port and released it day and date?

Well, maybe I won't buy a Wii U after all. I really want to for Platinum Games, but I was hoping Nintendo would make a comeback with the Wii U (fully justifying the price) and that's not looking likely at this point. If first party support ramps up, maybe I will pick one up still. I enjoy their games a bit. Wait and see approach I guess.

Ah thanks, my point is they all did a lot worse than last month, not just Wii U.

Did you plan to buy the Wii U for EA support? I mean yeah, Nintendo and EA might not be friends right now but that doesn't mean Nintendo won't get support from other companies, especially since Nintendo is much more into (confirmed by them) publishing and calibrations, the Wii U might not have the same level as multiplat support like PS4/720 but it might have more exclusives.
