EA Sports UFC unveiling May 21st

my prediction: all the next wave of EA games will be timed exclusive to xbox

I could see that happening at least for this years crop of sports game but, not next year. This seems like a possibility having the next gen versions of fifa and madden be exclusive to the next xbox this year and rely on xbox 360 and ps3 for one more year to pick up sales considering this is launch year for both the next xobox and ps4 and both will be limited by the install base.

So maybe it's the blurriness and horrendous artifacting throwing me off, but is that a screenshot of the game?

I think it's a picture, but there's something off about his hair.

Edit: Nah there's no way the crowds could look that good.

Wow, you have your hopes up for next-gen graphics, don't you?

Fifa was specifically advertised as part of the Xbox event. This just says first news tomorrow.

Xbox being announced just means EA (and everyone else) can stop pussyfooting around next gen game announcements.

They did a pretty good job this gen to be fair, at least in their promotional bullshots:

looks like they're bonding with MS

"E3, if you're a gamer, it's going to be tons of exclusives, world premieres " - Aaron Greenberg

I'm worried about that bond /salty

Having EA show their games or a highlight reel on stage =/= exclusivity, especially when it goes against some of the contracts in place already. Kind of like how Ubisoft showed off AC2 at Sony's conference but no one expected it to be exclusive to the PS3.

Sure, we might see some exclusive DLC shit and I expect a few third-party exclusives, but not every EA sports game in the world is magically going to be on Xbox only just because they plan to show it off there...

Although I have given up hope on Respawn's title. I'll get both consoles eventually but only one can own my TV this year so that exclusive might hurt. :P

I reckon most anything 3rd party will be DLC or timed exclusivity. The clock isn't going to be magically reset next gen.

Pfft, come now, obviously Watch_Dogs, Destiny, and Diablo 3 (that one required a time machine) are all exclusive to PlayStation 4.

The fight night games are some the best looking this gen and probably have the best animation in any game ever. Love the way the fighters react when they get hit. The way their body reacts to the force of blows is amazing to watch.

As mentioned before it is a breach of contract for exclusive FIFA...it must come to all consoles and the same is true with Madden. I not sure if the contracts states day and date but I'd be surprised if it didn't. So no exclusive 720 versions of those. Kinect-exclusive features? Definitely, gonna happen.

Out of all the EA sports games I could see UFC being xbox exclusive. I dont think Dana wouldnt take that much convincing.

I wonder how big this unprecedented partnership between MS and EA is. And if the deal is something huge with exclusive games how much would that cost MS?
It would make the $50 million for GTA DLC look like chump change.

Tomorrow should be fun.

Can not wait to see what EAC has to show! I have very high hopes for this game. With any luck they learned from MMA's mistakes and bring in the good parts of THQ's UFC games.

And for the love of god there better be PrideFC ring and fighters in this game. At LEAST what we got in the last Undisputed.

My dream (which I dont expect to come true) is that they get the PrideFC fighters who never went to the UFC like FEDOR, Igor Vovchanchyn or Arona.

Oh and OPEN WEIGHT FIGHTS already!!!!! Its much better to use a lighter fighter as a handicap then some BS stat handicapping. Plus makes roster much larger in teh grand scheme of things.

The ground game in EA MMA was good.

Lmao that is some terrible lie right there. The submission game was good, but the ground game was extremely lacking, simplistic and just terrible in every way.

UFC Undisputed 3's ground game was leaps and bounds better.

EA better have worked the footwork in-game too, because that was some funny skating they had going on in EA MMA. Also, the animations, in absolutely all of UFC and K1 games that came out before EA MMA, the animations for kicks were the worst ever. The Fluididty and techniques that were shown in the game were just plain bad.

if they are not exclusive and they spent time for many multiplatfrom ea titles that wont look good for xbox next. i mean fill your console reveal show with fifa? fifa is expected.

I've seen this claimed repeatedly, but what is the source? It certainly isn't true of Madden which has been dropping platforms left and right (including PC), and we know EA isn't making FIFA for Wii U

FIFA 06: RTWC was a 360 exclusive too

Again, I'm hyped - I want a good UFC game and be nice to actually see gameplay (please).

...I like sports games too much :[

I hope Microsoft don't just show a load of multiplatform content and established IPs though...

what does split bump mean?

Sometimes people decide that when a major news story breaks, it's best to put it in a thread from 2006.

At that point, I split it to a new thread, but that new thread might be off the front page, since it goes to wherever it would be based on the time of the last post.

As such, I bump it after the split.

thanks for the break down. didn't think i would get that much information from my question ;)

I'll shelve my excitement until they're ready to show the control scheme and gameplay mechanics. I'm sure the Fight Night team has made the best looking and animating MMA game by a large margin, though.

Timing your steroid cycle in career mode would be an amazing feature. Make it happen, EA.

"Tra Telligman knows a guy...fly to Texas? Yes / No"

Are MMA games ever any good? I haven't tried any but it seems like something that wouldn't translate well to a video game.

I wish EA would get some ex-Capcom/Sega/Namco fighting game devs to open up a studio for UFC/Fight Night. Those games could use some fighting game sensibilities.
