Ear ringing after rock concert

Did you see one of the loudest bands on planet earth motorhead?

I've stood next to their stacks on the front row, a few times my ears were ringing for a week later,
Gone to a few metal concerts over the years i think my hearing is getting worse, next time don't go so close or wear ear protection, iif you have trouble sleeping use something like white noise ie static (you can find 10 hours of static noise on youtube) or even a fan

Tinnitus isn't the same for everybody. Some get it for a few hours or days after a loud concert, and some get it for the rest of their lives after a single instance of damaging noise like Shatner has. Here's hoping it's the former.

My friend and I saw The Dark Knight Rises in the second row. By the second action sequence, I had to cover my ears with my hands. I watched the rest of the film that way. It was still pretty loud. Moral of the story: Always carry earplugs in situations where hearing loud noises are involved.

Now I'm imagining people getting tinnitus seeing Heat in the cinema with that amazing gunfire.

Went to a small local gig in which my brother's band was playing. Had the misfortune of standing right next to one of the biggest amps on the stage, the type that moves your arm-hairs with awesome. Got absolutely hammered, headbanged my neck into a neckbrace the following day (Looked like Avid Merrion), ringing in my ears lasted two weeks (Perfectly fine now though, I think).

Oh, and I tripped backwards over my own brother in the mosh pit. Fun times!

Saw a 2nd doctor yesterday and had a hearing test as well. For the hearing test, my hearing/hearing loss was in the normal range and there were no mild or severe damage to it.

He said that the ringing will most probably disappear after a week at most (man I sure hope so) and prescribed me medrol for 4 days and vitamin b complex for a week (for nerve healing/regeneration I believe).

So yeah, it's about day 3 or 4 now and my left ear's become clogged/muffled since yesterday even though it wasn't like this in the beginning (and I feel like only the right ear's ringing but I can't say for sure).

Still, hoping the medication works and I'm also jogging for better blood circulation to the ear.

Time to buy a fan to turn on before you go to bed, man. I have a small case of Tinnitus, and it helps. If you are the type that can, listening to white noise recording or sounds of thunder helps (and is actually quite relaxing, too).

God I hope this goes away. I've read others say they've had ringing for a week or more and it returned to normal so I still have some hope.

For some I'm sure that's true, but for others it's permanent due to a variety of causes. Even so, the key is to not focus on it. Having a fan or an AC on at night like the above poster mentioned is really helpful. At some point you'll start to notice it less and less. It may always be there, and we all want a cure, but as long as it does not impact your daily life you'll be fine. Not trying to worry you, but just don't get your hopes up. It's common to assume it will randomly go away just as it came on (at least that was what I thought) and like others on this forum I've been battling it for 3+ years.

Don't worry, Hydrogen, you'll get better. I'm sure of it.

If you need to forget about the sound, use a ventilator or something that does a constant noise. I hope you get better.

Quick question, does ringing in one ear cause clogging in the other? My left ears been really clogged while I think the ringing comes from my right ear.

No it doesn't. When you say clogging, do you mean earwax? Because that can happen, but it's not related to your tinnitus.

Went and saw my favorite band Against Me! in Gainesville a couple of years ago and was literally leaning on the speakers and stage for 3 hours straight. My ears rang for about a week. I was so happy when it went away. I got lucky.

See, Hydrogen? You'll get better. Just you wait.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't mean earwax as my ears were also checked and no wax was found. It's just that initially, my left ear wasn't really clogged but then it became clogged after 2 or 3 days.

happens all the time when i go to a loud bar.

i have enough earwax in my ears to substitute as earplugs

I went and saw Queens of the Stone Age last night at the Gibson Amphitheater, woke up with the worst ear ringing ever, thankfully only in my left ear. It's not too bad now, unless I'm in a quiet area, then it is more pronounced. Helluva show, by the way. Grats on the tinnitus

I haven't been this depressed in a long time.
Even if it doesn't go away, you'll cope. Eventually you learn to tune it out, and it doesn't become the focus of your attention all the time.

Just wear protection next time you go to a concert. Take care of your ears. Sadly, most people don't do so until after they've experienced permanent damage.

I had some ringing going on for two weeks after a Wolves in the Throne Room show I went to with a friend... it kind of tapered off to nothing after that, so don't lose hope yet.

You'll cope. It might take a long time to get usd to it, but you will.

I got a big mess of floaters in my eyes randomly when I was 21, and they have never gone away, but I deal with them. I was pretty depressed for a while.
YOu'll probably deal with the tinnitus as needed too.

Bought some Ety earplugs thanks to this thread.

I've been meaning to for so long given that I go to a show in a small venue every few months, but always forget. Thanks, thread.

My ears or specifically my left ear seems to be going crazy...when it hits a certain level it starts to make a crackling noise similar to speakers...no idea what to do
