dat scale!

Wing Diver

Wing Divers are aerial soldiers, equipped with wings used for flight, they are a Special Force made up of only women. They were formed as a trump card against the termination of the alien creatures. They manipulate a super weapon brought from a technology outside of Earth.

Large parties can play online

Large numbers of people will be able to play online in both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Details on what kind of missions you’ll fight together on are unclear at the moment, but we look forward to finding out!

Please release this in the eu, please...
One of the only shooters I find entertaining, even with all the issues.

How were the IA sales in euro-land?
I'm guessing not too great...

My heart is split asunder.

One half is bursting with joy at a new EDF game.
The other half is shriveled, terrified at the possibility of this game not reaching western shores.

Please let it come to the US of A, I will do anything.
Want me to like it on Facebook? Done!
Want me to follow you on twitter! Done!
Want me to buy Insect Armageddon to show my support? Done!
...during the next Steam sale, I'm not THAT crazy.

I guess I'm the only one who loved IA (and Zangeki no Rangenliev for that matter). 4 looks great and I hope along with the new flying class we get crazy flying enemies like in 2 (centipeeedes!) back.

If it never comes over here I'm glad it's on PS3 and I'll just import it.

Honestly don't really give a crap whether the game is released in English or not. It's a PS3 game and it has online play. Good enough for me.

THANK YOU SANDLOT.

THANK YOU PALE WING (or... Wing Diver I guess lol)!

THANK YOU ARMORED SPIDERS!

:D

This. So much this.

I mean, part of me can feel for those who want an English release. But with neither this or EDF3P looking especially likely, most Sandlot/EDF should have braced themselves for the inevitability of an import purchase anyhow...

I'm going to have to import this and that Vita version aren't I?

These are going to be the first games import. I look forward to attempting to decipher Japanese.

Can we expect to see English translation guides available online of menus and things?

Probably. It's very easy to navigate so we can help on the forum at least.

The single most text-intensive part of these games comes from the weapon descriptions. Of course, even if you CAN read them, you're just going to end up "Guess and Testing" which weapons work best for you anyway.

Otherwise, the language barrier is pretty flimsy.

My only complaint? The player OBVIOUSLY didn't get the memo that we're supposed to be causing more property damage than the damn bugs themselves! :lol

But seriously, I love what I see. Welcome back, EDF!

Yeah. Storyline-wise, I guess it makes sense. If I'm inferring the script correctly, it looks like by this point in time, humanity started reverse-engineering Foreigner/Ravager technology. If true, now I REALLY want to know what kind of weapons we might be able to play around with this time!

Pale Wing and her arsenal is the result of all that reverse engineering.

New unit type was unveiled in Famitsu. Mock if old.

Earth Defense Force 4 has different kinds of defenders. You can play as the Ranger, your standard giant ant shooter, or the fly around the screen using the Wing Diver’s jetpack. Famitsu introduced a third type of Earth defender this week, the Air Raider.

The Air Raider can support other players by calling in air strike or a vehicle drop. Air Raiders can call motorbikes, tanks, and helicopters. They can also heal allied units and drop bombs. Air Raiders can place land mines, remote controlled bombs, and automatic firing turrets.

Good to see that the "support unit" style of play finally has its own character. I wonder if we may get one more before all's said and done.

The engineer in IA was a good idea but badly balanced and of course in a terrible game. Good to see that Sandlot is going with more classes too though.

Reginleiv was awesome. Some weapon controls didn't work well (especially Freyr's bows that required you to pull the string back for 20 seconds, the controls would sometimes think that you were releasing the pull and of course pulling back that long is simply awkward as a motion) but there were enough other options that it didn't matter much. I'm also hoping for a new Chou Soujuu Mecha MG on the Wii U, the tablet is just screaming for mech controls.
