Eating dessert with a teaspoon. Is there a proper way?

North American spelling vs British English spelling. Let's just accept our differences and not make a thing out of it like we usually do.

Huh my bad, didn't even knew this was a thing... always thought it was because people didn't knew how to spell the word and put a random "h" there for good measure.

I only call it a teaspoon if I'm measuring stuff for a recipe. Is there really any reason to call what's in the OP something other than a spoon? Why you being so damn specific OP? You're not making tea, you are eating a sweet treat.

This, Yogurt is not desert. I personally classify it as "boring snack".

I was the same!

Had a major sweet tooth since really young. Then recently cut out most of my sugar for about 2 months, easier with hot weather, different routine and exercise.

Tried some "luxury greek style Ykos peach yoghurt" for a semi-treat and it tasted like a cheesecake made of condensed milk. Now that's my top dessert. I can't even type what I would need to settle that sugar craving before. Obviously has other benefits too, but appreciating desserts more is a decent one I don't hear too often.

I can't believe I've never thought to do this, but it seems like it would make most spoon-fed foods taste better in general. I think I may have to start doing this!

What is the difference between making contact with the spoon at the start of the process of shovelling food into your mouth or at the end? Unless the OP is suggesting that he removes the food in such a way that it isn't entirely cleaned from the utensil, leaving a protective layer as a 'barrier' so that no contact is ever made...

And if so, what about touching other parts of your mouth in the process? Surely an inverted spoon is more likely to touch the roof of your mouth. You have taste receptors all over the place, not just on your tongue. And what about the lips? If you really wanted to avoid the metallic taste of a spoon, you'd need to invert, paint the dessert onto the tongue while leaving a layer, and remove the spoon with an open mouth, not touching your lips.
