And make it a 1-day listing with Home Page Featured.

That is the gamble, cause there will be no more shipments between now and black friday. Will the insanity stop, or still be boiling come friday?

This is almost like playing the stock market :lol

For months, I bought and re-sold copies of Disgaea, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Riviera, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Phantasy Star Online Plus, Gitaroo-Man and an ungodly number of other titles. In all that time I never made as much money as one X360 would make me right now.

The time is now.. succeed where I failed. :(

Anyone willing to pay $1500+ can and will get one whenever they want. Those people want them today; I highly doubt that it'll get higher than this, even right before Christmas.

Do a "Buy It Now" auction for a ridiculous price, and require immediate payment by PayPal at the end of the auction. If they don't pay, the auction precedes as normal. That guarantees someone isn't going to get away with an impulse bid on you.

why are PAL XBox 360's not getting sold that good? They are getting sold for a +- 380£ = 650$

though, the PAL Xbox still has to get launched, maybe people are willing to bid more once they discover all Xbox 360's are sold out?

Or won't there be such a shortage in Europe as in America, explaining the lower price? I doubt that one...

PS: can someone tell me how much the premium package weights? (so I can calculate shipping costs before I have the 360 package)

That last link's been pulled.

I just sold mine to some dude for $1,100. Had the money in my hand an hour and a half after listing it on craigslist. I was gonna hold off, hoping for a bidding war, but God, I'm tired and just wanna go to bed. After seeing these $2-5k auctions I felt like dying (even though I didn't pay for mine...), but then I checked the completed auctions and most are ending around what I sold mine for. I imagine the REALLY sky high ones are crank bidders.

Guy I sold it to said he's mainly gonna use it to play Halo. :|

I think the Premium system is 16 lbs or so? Most auctions are charging $35 for overnight shipping on 'em.

because people probably think they can get one on launch day of course so they dont feel pressed to go to ebay yet.

fuck. has this kind of thing worked at this kind of level in europe before? Might have to invest.....

As far as I know, this hasn't even worked at this level in America before. Multiple thousands of $$$ are something I've never seen before.

don't know, one thing is sure: there will be a shortage on 360's in Europe too + many people want one for christmas = enough crazy people

I've already pre-ordered 3 xbox 360's to sell, it will be worth it. (atleast I hope ;p)

Looks like the really high ones were fake bidders :(

So I changed mine to BIN 999, it should sell and i'll be happy

I'm on the verge to do it ....

thought so: 1,500$+ just looks unreal to me

Well, fake or just chance. Most of them ending now are 1000-1200

Which, is nothing to cry over. I'll take double what I paid :D

yup, the really high ones were obviously people pissed off at scalpers. not gonna stop me though! I could use an extra few hundred euro for christmas....

If you were to sell one of these via Paypal and the buyer were to claim (whether true or not) that the unit was defective, would you be vulnerable to a chargeback?

You can specify your own return policy. Write some where in the auction that the unit is covered by a warranty.

That doesn't stop someone from doing a chargeback. Have fun waiting 3 months for it to resolve while Paypal freezes the funds in your bank account.

Wow. Took a brief look around today, everywhere was packed and sold out (dropped my wife off at her work near Best Buy and the line was something like 150 people. Not sure if they had more than a dozen systems).

At any rate, I will stock up on PS3s if this is the insanity that will accompany them. Part of me hates to take advantage, but it's a lot of money. Still, unless Sony does a fall launch or is horrendously understocked, I don't think there will be quite the same fervor -- no panic for Christmas.

ship it UPS with insurance covering the amount sold for and you will be fine even if it arrives in pieces.

UPS makes good on insurance .

you think one opened played for a day repackaged and put on ebay would break the 1000 mark?

one premium with extra wirless controller as well as PGR3 and PD?
that is what i bought. cost me $605.00 for all of it.

LoL. If people are that concerned, do what I'm doing with my auction. Don't accept paypal. Only accept U.S. postal money orders and ask them to send it by priority mail. You can't go wrong with postal money orders. They can only be bought with cash and fakes(very unlikely) are easy to spot. You'll get your cash upfront without Paypal taking a percentage of it. =P

The thing, by the way, that strikes me as strange, and maybe I don't know the root cause of it, is that people want these things bad enough to spend a grand on them, have they not learned from earlier launches (like the PS2) or by retailers hard-selling preorders that they might not get one on day one if they don't buy it ahead of time?

You guys trying to plan for the PS3 launch need to remember the PSP ebayers that got screwed 'cause there was more then enough for early adopters.

So many of my fellow Americans are assholes! I'm ashamed. Our whole damn country's on a perpetual sugar high, and this, dear Gaffers, is the tragic result :(

Yeah, that's why I completely ignored the 360 launch. When my TRU got in that second shipment upping us to 16 instead of 8, I just passed it on by, never thinking it would have been this bad.

That's why god invented return policies.

Somehow, I think early demand for the PS3 will far exceed early demand for the PSP. And if it doesn't, I'll make use of the 11th Commandment, as suggested my Matlock.

I wouldn't be surprised if these inflated auctions are both bid up and purchased as viral PR for the product launch.
