As much as I loved MK9 (Smoke was the best and any game without him is worse for it), Shaolin Monks is the only answer for me.

Even if they don't give us all characters in Shaolin Monks' story mode, PC will have mods to make it happen. Shaolin Monks needs to happen.

9 doing so well also speaks to the current state of the franchise. Fans are more interested in when the franchise was one they liked rather than whatever it is now. Chances of that Mileena costume are somewhat diminished in the current year, though.

Hey, I'm not saying the faces in MK9 weren't beaten with an ugly stick, but I think in that game's case, it was more they didn't have the talent to design an attractive looking female at the time. They at least had some killer outfits. Future entries, especially MK11...Kitana's face was kinda cute, and so was Casey Cage, but holy shit some of the outfits in that game looked like the women all turned Muslim, and lived in Iran or something. It was like they didn't dare show any skin.

I genuinely still think MK9 is one of the best games in the modern post MK vs DC reboot era. X and II are good. But MK9 will always be a personal favorite. On the other hand, Shaolin Monks is the best MK spin off to date. Realistically they could probably do MK9 in house and outsource Shaolin Monks. I feel like they could hold off on a remaster and just include it in a second MK Kollection later on down the road.

I'd be okay with MK9 though, as long as they didn't mess with the overall look of the costumes. By all means, replace the female models because they were terrible, but leave the costumes alone.
