I actually like the console list and have to agree with most of it. Only surprise to me is the DS so far down.

Yeah I agree, they don't really say anything bad about it.. "You could take it away with you on a day trip and leave the charger at home. It was the perfect handheld. Maybe it still is"

360 had a smoother start with a worse end. Pushed lots of online features and DD games for awhile.

They more or less smooth over the RROD. But that's exactly what they cite. They say it was the lead platform for this generation and that Microsoft sowed the seeds early on in the platform's life making a lot of right decisions. It's not so much about exclusives even though they take a dig at Gran Turismo while praising Forza.

Ten amendments are lame. It's telling about a publication if and how often they hit the mark in recognizing certain games' exceeding quality and even impending influence, in the moment -- anyone can do it, retroactively. If after the fact, time shows they underscored a game, then they're incompetence and lack of foresight needs to be preserved for prosperity and as a mark of shame. With a game like Dark Souls especially, it comes off as jumping on the bandwagon.

The Xbox had Halo 1 and 2, just about your definitive SP and MP fps games right there, on top of including ethernet in the box when no one else did, a hdd and other goodness. The Dreamcast is great but it didnt hit those heights, same with the Saturn. Both great but in the end they became niche, sidelined consoles.

Agree with the first two consoles, PS2 made gaming accepted by the mainstream, as well as having a massive library full of great titles.

The 360 made online gaming simple enough for everyone, introduced an online store and had a great library.

Great list of consoles. Some people on here have a hard time giving the Xbox 360 the respect it deserves. Great software, the best console online network ever, the best console controller ever, achievements( which almost everybody copied) and xbox live arcade. Easily my favorite console ever and i've been around awhile lol.
