Halo is also a masterpiece, did I ever say otherwise, i just don't think its the best game of a generation, or even a GOTY winner. But it is an excellent game.

My point is, pick that 2nd part of your post, and instead of Res4 put halo. Same deal, the difference is Halo made 10x the impact.

But the denial of people around here....it's just...some funny ass shit. Even if God himself came down from heaven with his Mc helmet, and said HAlo was awesome and he thought it was one of the best games ever, and deserved to be in the top 10...people amongst GAF would still say "Sorry Baby jesus, your father sucks at games"

You know, I'm aware that this list is voted on by lots people. But I don't care who you are, you're an idiot if you think that games released within the last five years are somehow supremely influential and of great historic importance and deserve to be on best-of lists of any kind. The most recent movie on the AFI's recent top 100 films list was Fellowship of the Ring, and that came out way back in 2001. The combined age of the top three films was over 150 years old. The combined age here is 22. Have some perspective.

And yes, I'm also aware that lists like these are written and released to spawn endless retarded debate on the internet, and I'm contributing to the problem. But the continuous spouting of "X GAME THAT'S LESS THAN FIVE YEARS OLD ISN'T ON THAT LIST WTF!?!" really needs to stop - it's a dumb list made by fans to generate bullshit internet debate and your complaints that Gears of War/God of War/MGS4 isn't on the list isn't really going to impact anything.

Edge is a great magazine, but this is a hilariously bad list.

Keep in mind that the editors did not outright choose the games. Most of their input came from the readers with a sprinkling of industry figures and their editorial staff. For instance I doubt they considered games that the readers themselves did not acknowledge.

This lists always boil down to "I disagree, x doesn't blong, and y does". Another words, everyone has an opinion.

Actually, I think of Halo as more of an FPS than an RPG. Sure, it's gameplay depth and learning curve might make you feel like you're playing an RPG, but it's still firmly rooted in the FPS genre.
