The Asus EP121 is the "super device". This is just another media tablet device the comes with keyboard accessory.

Will pick mine up sometimes this week. I'll post pics or a video when I get it. I hope the thing about GPS isn't true though.

Always Innovating beat them to the punch with the Touchbook (which actually predates the ipad), but that thing is a piece of garbage (I know, I own one) so I'm sure Asus' version is much better.

Ugh, almost makes me regret my HP tm2t purchase. I would've held out for this had I known about it, mostly because of the portability factor. My tm2 makes a great laptop, a great "notetaking" machine, but not a great tablet. It's a little too bulky/heavy to hold like a tablet, but it does what I wanted it to do.

Still though, for the price I might pick one of these up anyway.

Put a good GPU in there and I'm sold.

So a tablet with a keyboard accessory? Someone explain to me what's the super part.
It transforms into a laptop. Plus the keyboard increases battery life. Too bad it lacks a real OS.

Keyboard and trackpad. Acts just like a netbook when docked. Also, the attachment has USB ports and a battery that adds another 7 hours to the battery life. The attachment also charges the tablet.

Anyway, the price isn't that bad with the dock included. I'd be more inclined to get this over the Ipad 2 or Xoom in the same price range. I'm still doing fine with my rooted Nook Color for now, but we'll see. I want me some HC.

So there's a cursor and desktop OS when docked?

This - it almost doubles the battery life, plus the keyboard has extra ports and stuff.

My dad is trying to decide between a laptop and an iPad - this may be the answer.

Marketing that makes me want a product less.

(still want)

Pity the screen doesn't dock in the vertical orientation.

Was excited for a second then I realized you also have to buy the keyboard pad which brings it to $520 if you want that configuration. Pass. Honeycomb does not look that impressive either.

The 'supert tablet' part is also the Nvidia marketing line for the Tegra 2, which is somewhat amusing given it seems to be the weakest of the dual-A9 SoCs.

My opinion as a xoom owner: wait for something without a Tegra 2.
Indeed. Perhaps Nvidia will get it right with Kal-El.

Oh come on. The Atrix just flopped pushing this same concept. They'll sell some units, but let's not get carried away.

The atrix failed? I was looking to get that as my next phone. That means it will get cheaper. Yaya. So I can get it. :)

...errr, it's nothing like the Atrix. Bizarre comparison.

That's because you're an apple fanboy. Tell us you don't have an ipad/ipad2 and tell us you didn't just post in this thread pretending to be an open minded consumer rather than a hater because you love your ipad2

Holy shit.

We share the same plan. If a good tablet goes in sale or something, I might jump in before the next-gen of tablets.

Will the software/hardware run like crap though? I fear the pad market will be just like the netbook one, where all these cheaper, cool looking alternatives (many made by ASUS) have the luster wear off when you realize they run like ass cheeks.

Do any of these programs allow "marker" functions during presentations, and also allow me to save these markups for later?

Far from being a apple fanboy but I do own a iPad and so what...that's somehow makes you not able to pass fair judgment? I would sell it in a second for something better and that "Transformer" looked mighty impressive until I saw that the keyboard did not come with it.

2012 will be the year mainstream ARM actually begins to match portable Intel/x86 chips in the performance space, not such performance/watt. That combined with Windows 8 on ARM with 'Immersive' UI and the tablet space is about to get very, very interesting. I love my iPad, but Apple alone isn't going to deliver 'post-PC' computing. Android, Windows, iOS and ARM combined can, and they can do it mass-market price.

The keyboard comes with it for 499. Same price as the ipad.

This is going to be my tablet. Not only does it fit the form and function of being a tablet but also doubles as a replacement Netbook of which a hardware keyboard and trackpad will truly be an amazing experience with Honeycomb.

This to me justifies the mud being thrown from either Apple or Google's camp as this brings a compelling option against the iPad's BT dock of which is not very portable.
