Elebits Official Thread

not enough elebits love.
we need more people buying elebits to see elebits 2! come on people, hurry up and buy (and ENJOY) this wonderful game!

I saw a couple here and there in my local FYE and EBX. Some guy picked up the game at EBX while I was asking for Metal Slug Anthology for Wii. Apparently it was never in their computer system and they don't know when they'd be getting it in. They still wanted me to pre-order, though...

Anyhow, it was mighty tempting, but I got Super Swing Golf instead. If the Elebits following continues to grow, though, I might succumb.

Picked up the game from target today and nearly played 6 hours so far. It's really really fun, moreso than I thought it would be.

I think the pink elebits are what unlock different modes for each level. Find one and you would unlock challenge mode, find two to unlock the score attack, and get the 3rd to get eternal mode.

So far the only stage I found all 3 pink elebits was the 3rd stage (or whichever one where you first get to the kitchen). I actually ended up doing it on my first try somehow and was ready to continue the story mode. But then I wanted to try out Eternal Mode for that stage, which still keeps track of your time (which I like). Eventually I check my timer and I've spent 40 some minutes just goofing off in this one stage. :lol

Still can't figure out what I need to stick in the microwave to get it working tho, but I definitely had fun trying. Also ended up cracking myself up when I found the clock above the doorway and discovering I could pull it down. When some Elebits came out I blurted; "Elebits know what time it is." ~FlavaFlav :lol

In anycase, the game is awesome. I got up to the street level tonight which is just huge. The stage ended just as I got the ability to toss cars around tho. Guess there is always room for improvement! :)

Ok, after playing some more, I have to say the later levels get pretty tough. They always give you enough time to pass, but I'm struggling to get better than an A or B. Usually on my first tries I'll get Cs and I don't think I've found all the pink ones for any stage yet. The levels get pretty huge later on, with multiple rooms, and I always feel like I should be moving faster to catch all the elebits.

funny enough, after I finished laying waste to the dining room and closing the game, I had this strage feeling that my room was in disarray. I felt like I had thrown everything around my own room. Weird feeling :\

I think the reason people compare this to katamri is because of the art and the fact that there are 100s of manipulatable objects in each level.
I think that might be the reason some people compare the game to Katamari, but not those that compare the gameplay to Katamari. I'd say the game designers were deeply inspired by Katamari Damacy, even if it had super realistic gritty post apocalyptic future art, and a heavy metal soundtrack. These guys definitely studied the Katamari gameplay formula. They weren't as successful putting the same formula into a new setting, but the inspiration would be obvious even if it were a prototype with no recognizable objects. If you break down what exactly made Katamari addictive from purely gameplay, you'll see it in Elebits. And I'm not complaining at all :).

This game ****ing rocks.

Wow.

I am DEEPLY impressed by the design and immediate fun this title provides. I can spend hours just throwing shit around. So fun.

Actually, the most obvious pink elebit unlocks score attack. The second one that unlocks challenge is a little better hidden. And to get eternal, you have to either complete the level within a certain amount of time, or some other special condition (don't break a certain amount of objects or don't make too much noise). You have to stick the
popcorn
in the microwave.
It's in the cabinet under the pizza.

This game is so fantastic. The more I play the more I like. SO SURPRISED by the quality.

Maybe it caters to my inner '**** shit up and get dirrrty' spirit but this game has endless value and fun in that department. I spent half an hour in the edit mode just making huge collisions of paint cans in the bedroom stage and it was AWESOME. SERIOUSLY AWESOME.

:D :D :D

Wow, thank you. That's totally the obvious solution now that you mentioned it. I guess I didn't ever pay attention to the popcorn tho. :)

hey, I'm glad more people are enjoying this game. Hopefully we can get a good community making maps. :)

We should exchange wii numbers as well...makes things easier.

I was really "on the fence" so to speak with this game. But let me tell you, if you don't buy and enjoy this game, please pack up you Wii and sell it on ebay! This game is soooooo freaking AWSOME. Basically, you have NOT played a game like this. EVER! Sure it has a formula, but what games don't? It's just something that has not been done before. IMO this game pushing a new genre and I haven't seen anything close that comes to that kind of statement for years, actually more like a decade!

Everyone has to buy this game, you will be sucked in and soon to find yourself looking for those pesky little elebits around your own room. You might even start throwing stuff around because, hell yeah, that's fun too!!!

This is what the Wii is all about, and it's sad Nintendo was beat to the punch by a 3rd party who really didn't even support the GCN. Go out and buy this game now, you will never regret it, there is sooooooooo much hidden stuff in the game and developers who are willing to take a risk like this need to be supported in a big way!

9.9/10

Much better impressions than I had hoped for. Will have to think hard about it until it comes to europe.

I think I'll have to decide between this, super swing and trauma center.

Yikes, just got to the Dad's Secret Room stage. I'm having a lot of problems passing it because the zero gravity + no breaking things is next to impossible. You don't really have to worry about what you can move, you can move almost anything, but even the slightest nudge will send stuff flying. I don't know how, but I opened a door to another room and was shooting at some elebits on a shelf. I must have mis-aimed one of my shots cause I hit the shelf itself and this huge thing starts sailing around the room and I hear *crash*-*crash*-*crash*-*crash*-*crash*-*crash* back to back. Don't know what was hit, but I guess I better be careful in the future. :S

Oh man, this game is so much fun. I giggle with glee whenever I upgrade my capture gun and get to throw crap around that I saw previously in the level.

Damnit, I am trying not to spend $50 before Christmas but you guys are making it really difficult. hmmmm, if I leave in the next half hour I could pick it up before EB closes...... decisions decisions.

I have to say, Anihawk was totally wrong about this game. I'm amazed at how much content this game has. It's like they finished it in the first month and spent the last few just adding stuff to the game.

The main gripe I have with the game is the "you can only send one picture/level in a period of 24 hours" limit. It makes me afraid to send anything, because I know I won't be able to send anything for another 24 hours. Every night, I have to stay up later and later, just to send something...

That, and you can't send pictures to your friends' Wiis themselves... you have to send it to their Elebits. So they have to already own Elebits for Konami to get their free word-of-mouth advertising for the game.

So I thought, "ok, well, maybe we can build an online community by sharing saves containing the levels." Nope... the save is copy protected. I'm scared to send anything to anyone in case I run into a cool screenshot in the next 24 hours. Ugh. It's extra painful considering the Wii itself can send a ton of images no problem.

That's the only gripe I have though. It's a good game.

That's ridiculous. Can you at least send one level/pic to multiple friends at once? What possible reason could they have for doing this?

Yes, you can choose 8 friends. But I'd rather an 8 picture limit, so you can at least send different pictures to different people.

I do wish I could just send pictures and it would post on their picture boards regardless of if they have the game or not.

Finally got B on the first level last night. Took me forever... mostly because I was just trying to be nice and not toss everything around (but that only earned me a C ranking). I finally said screw it and things went flying everything.

I have acquired my copy of Elebits.

You gotta love it when employees of companies bash the products they sell.

When I saw the little boxes that Babbages has for the PS3 and Wii gift cards, the employee made the comment:

"Yeah, $600 for a gift card.... For a product that keeps breaking."

If you actually sell the item you don't like, at least don't talk bad about it to a customer standing at the register.

Alright, so I finished the first two missions in story mode and I must say gooooooooood stuff. I accidently hit "no" when it asked me to continue mission 1, so I jumped straight into mission 2 afterwards. Played the entirety of mission 2, found one of the pink elebits (I had found one in mission 1 as well), and finished with an S ranking. I then went back to mission 1, played it in its entirety, and managed to find all three pink elebits and finish with an S.

Love the controls. Love watching boots go flying across the room, and then moving on to toy trains, a Wii (!!!!), a TV and an air humidifers... Totally crazy and totally fun. Glad I picked it up, thanks guys!

Has anyone started seriously editing levels yet? I need to add some of you kids to my friends code list. Why don't we post our friends codes in here if you have got Elebits so we can add each other, instead of digging up the official list thread and matching names to numbers, etc...

Here is mine:

ok, GAF wins.
I got it.

The last time I bought a game purely on GAF's recommendation (dragon quest 8) I had a strong distate and biterness for me.

Don't screw me again, gentlemen.
(though I only had $10, so I can't imagine being that upset this time :lol )

I got the game, too.

Controls are definitely solid. Interaction with the game world is incredibly good and fun.

My problems so far (I've only just done the first two missions):

-first, I'm not sure I like a mission based approach. I think it'd be more fun to have this whole world before you and to just go after the Elebits and increase your abilities and then be able to progress further and further and interact with more stuff.
-second, even if they had to go with a mission-based approach, I dunno that I like the time limit. I just don't feel like I get to explore enough and interact enough and seek out all the little hidden stuff, and for me, it's seeming like that's the most fun thing about Elebits.

So, I dunno. Kinda disappointed. Still a very well made game, though -- it's basically the first FPS I've found enjoyable. And I don't get the "tech demo" complaints at all.

Ethelred: you can unlock an "eternal mode" for each level by finding the right pink Elebit. It's basically the same thing without the time limit.

Not really the same thing, though. :)

I guess what I'm getting at is this:

I feel a bit constrained by the missions/time limits, so I don't think it's going to be the kind of game I play for long periods of time... like, if it was more adventure-oriented and had free-roaming exploration and gradual progression through the world as you get to interact with more and more, I'd be playing for hours and hours at a time.

The plus side to their approach, however, is that it is very bite-sized, it is very pick up and play, so I can easily see myself coming home from work, starting it up, and doing a couple missions just for fun.

I'm not really slagging on Elebits for this design choice -- it's still a fun, creative game with really interesting controls, and like Trauma Center and the sports games, it's one of the games that I feel is doing the best at utilizing the wiimote. It's just not the kind of game I enjoy the most, that's all.

This game is the first time the Wii has made me go "WTF"

Like, when I have an item in the capture gun, and I push the remote forward to make the item drift forward. It weirds me out.

I'm loving this game! Its up there with the cuteness, great controls, simpicity of the likes of Chibi-Robo and Katamari! :D :D :D Its difficult at the later levels but man, like how you grew to size in KD, you really can wield power lifting buildings! :D

I agree with ethelred re the time limits. Never have been a big fan of them in games, but that's alright. The Eternal mode, I think, is a great addition. Finding those pink elebits on every stage in order to open Eternal mode on the other hand...

Still, quite a great game. I wish you could have your own soundtrack.. Shibuya-kei music ala KD would work so well. That said, I do like the music and it probably was a good idea to have it just be instrumental. You really don't have time to think about the music with all the screams from the elebits as you zap them up :D

Have you played Wii Play (I guess not as youÂ’re probably American)
But the fishing game makes me go WTF as you have sense of depth of screen and not just 2D planes which standard cursor movement gives with a stick. Its really seriously weird!

Play the Monkey Ball trombone minigame! It rocks soo much :lol

I've been playing this game for about 2 hours. Really liking it.
Had to stop because my eyes are watering from trying to find elebits.
Some sections are tough too.

The timer isn't bothering me, the game would be SO easy without it. I also feel that it gives you a good reason to replay each section. As you get better you can go back to the earlier stages and totally clean house.

The edit mode is a little daunting right now (so many options and items) it'll take me a while to sink my teeth into it.

Wasn't expecting it to be such a full game. Seems like there's tons to do.

We hadn't played single player at all, but a friend and I played 2 player for a while, it was a lot of hectic fun. It was just shit like MOVE THE ****ING SHELF OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE THEY BEHIND THE THING NO MOVE THAT SHIT :lol

I played 4 player for an hour.

Its real fun for 2 games. Then its boring. You really can't do anything at all in it.

So yea, I got the game.
Someone Wiiconnect24 me some levels, stat.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was allready released in Euroland, same applies to Trauma Center-damn you third parties why don't you want my money?

Every day I have Elebits I just like it more and more. Not only does it remind of Katamari but it ONE UPS it in every way but music (even though the tunes are VERY good)

Better control.
Better levels.
More levels.
More FUN.
MAKE YOUR OWN ****ING LEVELS AND SEND THEM OR TAKE SWEET PHOTOS
All the extra modes rock.

AAA title seriously. This game is one of the biggest surprises for me in a long time :D

First impressions

Although the art style appears to be childish at first, it quickly becomes charming and acceptable. The elebits however, may take a while to get used to. My overall opinion of them has swayed back and forth quite a bit since I got the game. Of course, now I'm in love with them.

It's very easy to assume that elebits are like cockaroaches. After all, they do share similar behaviors. But eventually you pick a favorite. Perhaps you enjoy zapping the crying red elebits. Fast forward two games into the future, and now you love the yellow ones that roll around. Pretty soon, you are happy to lift any object just as long as it doesn't harbor the spiked ones. But of course, you begin to familiarize yourself with the pros and cons of each kind.

Each level offers new and interesting puzzles. Yes, puzzles. What do you do with a turkey and an oven? A piece of bread and a toaster? Well, I'm not quite sure. I don't want to spoil it for you guys. Ok, ok. The puzzles are simple. I don't believe thats the point. In a frantic game (it's quite often frantic) you may come across an oven. You think "CRAP! Where's the turkey?!" leading you on a path of destruction as you tear apart the kitchen in search of a butterball. It's always.. simply.. satisfying and fun.

I can go on and on about this game. But I won't. I'm going to just give my quick verdict.

"Astonishingly good. Sleeper hit. Elebit 2 is certain."

I sure hope so and I TOTALLY agree. Elebits has REALLY surprised me. I expected semi-gimmicky fun but it is a deep and rewarding experience. Similarly, the little nuances, bevy of extras and extensive options show a design polish you hardly see, even in non-launch title games. The developers truly cared about this title and it shows. I LOVE THIS GAME.
