Elebits Official Thread

It is really a good game besides Zelda. And my sister and girlfriend do enjoy this very much. Simple control but need to learn how to open the doors efficiently.

A question about Stage 10: how can I remove those attacking mice? They are rather annoying and I have to be very careful not to close to them...

picked up elebits last night for the family for xmas... my wife picked it out and is actually excited about it. I cant wait for next week!

I think the secret to opening doors is to ONLY twist your wrist. There is really no need to have the exagerated swinging the door open movements. A simple twist will do it just enough to open smoothly. Opening and closing drawers on the other hand... Well, I am still coming to grips on how to do that smoothly.

Game is ridiculously fun just goofing around. I am having the hardest time finding all the pink elebits in the second mission... Anyone have any hints?

I played this with a few friends on Monday night and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of polish. The presentation (voice acting aside) is really quite good, and throwing around shelves and toys was great. The puzzle elements are also something I wasn't quite expecting.

I'll pick it up, but probably not until it's $20-30.

Yes. Actually, it is better if I outright spoil it for you, because you're going to need to know this for future levels, and I can't imagine how anyone could figure it out on their own without being incredibly observant.

If you see something shaking a whole lot, like I mean literally rocking back and forth, shake the hell out of it for as long as possible. There's a pink elebit inside. In the case of level 2, it's in the rose vase in the bathroom. You have to shake it for like 30 seconds without breaking it before the pink elebit comes out. I suggest watching the rose vase shake for a few seconds so you know what to look for in other levels.

Levels where you have a break or sound limit are so freaking tense, I hate having to be so careful, I like just grabbing something and tossing it to the other side of the room.

I didn't know about this either. I look forward to picking this game up in the future.

Is the Wii Connect24 stuff up and running?

Kevar, thank you so much for the tip! You are right- I don't think I ever would have caught on to that. That makes a lot of sense now though, and I probably completely bypassed a lot of pink elebits because of that.

At first I was inclined to agree with you, but having those restrictions make you a much better Elebits player. The game does take some finesse, which I think is a good thing instead of just wildly throwing things around everywhere. That said, I don't like games that make me feel tense either, so sometimes I find myself only playing a few regular levels of Elebits and then going back and playing one of the eternal levels I have unlocked :lol

But that's just it, eternal mode is perfect for tossing things across the other side of the room. And damn is it fun to do that too.

I played the first two missions and I have to say the one thing that gets me is that it feels a little claustrophobic and cluttered.
The first two levels are really tiny. Don't worry about it. They become huge.

Ethelred: Are people still doing that? I thought that was only pre-launch, when the game did look like a tech demo, because we had no idea how much content it has.

Sweet, I'll get on them soon (after a little more Trauma Center-ing). Also, in terms of elebits I also gotta say I was a little surprised by the framerate. But I think once the levels open up it'll seem like less of an issue.

Still can't beat stage 10... How can I get 5000w without carefully sneaking away from those mice?! I was mad and went back to play some eternal mode.... :(

Just dodge them when they fly at you. And in my experience (limited as it is, as I've only played that level about twice) they only fly at you once you've tried to capture them.

If you still feel the need to sneak, the answer is to spend most of your time moving things slowly and carefully instead of shaking things about and making noise. But really, as long as you're careful and dodge when they fly at you, you'll be fine.

Ok, I should learn more on dodging mice :P Thank you~

Try focusing more on collecting the elebits you can rather than avoiding the black ones. I don't think they can hurt you if you step on them, but I haven't outright gone out of my way to test this, and I'm too tired to do so now. But yeah, just don't shoot them with the beam, and dodge them if they're flying into your face, and you should do okay.

I didnt know you could dodge the black elebits, I usually let out all the elebits I can, then get the homing beam and get them all at once without worrying about getting hurt, or I use the shield or I just smash them with whatever is near by

Black Elebits (normal ones, anyway) can't hurt you unless you zap them. Do try to avoid waking them up, though, as they can be huge pains shutting shelves and pushing elebits out of the way so you suck them up.

Just stepping on them does nothing.

This is the most polished and expansive Wii exclusive out right now. Tons of modes, multiplayer, course building, online trading, and the game looks and plays very well. I'm ashamed some of the scores have been so low. The game is truly fun, and a good example of what other games for Wii should have been

You guys are killing me. I want this game so bad but I promised my wife I'd stop buying games until after Christmas so I don't spoil anything. She might not even be getting me any games, but I'm at least leaving the option open to her.

If I don't get Elebits for Christmas, you can be dang sure I'll be picking it up on Dec. 26th.

coming from red steel i just have to get this off my chest:
elebits controls a million times better. wow. i would really like to see an actual fps with these kind of controls. very smooth and responsive. like it a lot.

the game itself is fun so far (only played for an hour). still not sure if it has enough depth to keep me interested for a long period of time. we'll see...

other than that i completely agree with this poster whose name i don't remember because of his strange rotating avatars:

I got the game, too.

Controls are definitely solid. Interaction with the game world is incredibly good and fun.

My problems so far (I've only just done the first two missions):

-first, I'm not sure I like a mission based approach. I think it'd be more fun to have this whole world before you and to just go after the Elebits and increase your abilities and then be able to progress further and further and interact with more stuff.
-second, even if they had to go with a mission-based approach, I dunno that I like the time limit. I just don't feel like I get to explore enough and interact enough and seek out all the little hidden stuff, and for me, it's seeming like that's the most fun thing about Elebits.

So, I dunno. Kinda disappointed. Still a very well made game, though -- it's basically the first FPS I've found enjoyable. And I don't get the "tech demo" complaints at all.

yeah that pretty much sums up my feelings so far. i was very disappointed that i couldn't simply progress through the house and go back and forth whenever i wanted... :(

anyway, what's with the lack of activity in this thread? did no one buy this game?

Bump. Buy this game.

A note: I'm not very far yet, only level 4, but on Mission 2
you can throw objects down the banister (and they disappear). :lol Was fun to clear out the level.

This game is pretty cool. I get to live out my dream of being on that old Nickelodeon game show "Finders Keepers" and just tear up a room looking for things. Also the menu music is great. So relaxing and smooth.

I ordered the soundtrack from Play-Asia and being able to listen to it without the distraction of zapping the little guys... I have to say that I really like it. I am in a house cleaning mode right now so it works perfectly while I am organizing but I also realized that it would be good to play while at a party (during boardgames and cards kind of thing). It's catchy and fun but not obtrusive during conversations. :)

Anyways, just thought I'd throw that in - just in case anyone was curious about it. I originally wanted it because I am addicted to the song they play in the trailer... boop boop - boop boop boop boop boop. :D

Vague talk of the end boss below:

So, um, what the hell? :) Anyone know a good strategy? I was wrestling with the sucker for nigh on ten minutes before I just lost interest.

Is it just me, or can I not copy the Elebits save onto a SD card? I wanted to take it to a friends place to try out the multiplayer... but it wouldn't copy :(

I picked this up last week, and I've played the first 4 levels of it so far.

One thing for me, this game tends to trigger a bit of motion sickness feeling.

I've been gaming for 23 years, and I have never gotten motion sickness from playing a game before.

I don't know if it's the way you're moving around in their 3D space, or maybe because it feels cramped on the levels I'm playing and then you're tossing items all over, but I definitely get a little queasy after about a half-hour or so of play.

I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing that goes away after getting used to the environment, but it's definitely a new sensation for me when playing a game.

OMFG FINDERS KEEPERS!!

Now I am SO getting this when I get a Wii. Tomorrow.

:D

My thumb really hurts.

I'm enjoying the game, but I kept pressing A to pick up some elebits and my thumb hurts now. :(

Fun game. Controls own red steel, that's for sure. Feel a little more floaty than CoD3, which I think is good. Graphics are eh. Music-- I can't remember any of it. Gameplay is a nice little diversion, so it is enjoyable.

I rented the game and didn't like it. I can't quite say why, though...something about the whole premise didn't click with me. That and patience required to manipulate objects maybe. The whole thing made me really miss Katamari though...and it made me really hate dithering.

Despite me not liking it, I'll give props to Konami for actually putting effort into the game--the Wii needs more fully fleshed out games like this one.

I have the same problem. Everything else will copy over to a SD card (Zelda, Trauma Center, Red Steel, even a VC title and the internet channel demo)....except the Elebits save.

Weird.

Game rocks. :)

I think the best advice we can give anyone on the fence about the game is to ignore the low scores. This game obviously doesn't deserve those.

Got the game. Only played the first level but so far it seems alright. Anyways look what found it's way into one of my christmas pictures

This game's story and voice acting are soooo bad. Soooooooooooo bad.

If they would have put as much effort in to acting as they did in to sounding plain awful the VA would have been nice. Seriously how can someone act so horrible. Game is super awesome though.

What the eff am I supposed to be looking for here?

i'm waiting on gamefly so I can join in on the fun. I am a huge katamari fan, and have been looking forward to this since I first heard about it. good to all the impressions.

so I got this today on a present return (two copies of Guitar Hero II FTW).

First and foremost, I am right there with the other guy on this page about the motion sickness. Though unlike him, I am prone to it in most first person titles on my TV (55" rear projection). So my play time with the game has to be in spurts. I can play for around 30-60 minutes or so before needing to take a break. oh well, certainly not the game's fault (that I know of).

It is an odd title to be sure. I never played katamari.. it is definitely a real game (no non-game here), but the pacing is different and the challenge of beating a level never feels, well, challenging until the clock gets down to the last few seconds.

Controls in 3D (that is moving the remote forward and backward) can be problematic at times. A drawer might creep open, but then a door opens so hard it flies back shut. it will take some getting used to, and some of it might just have to be tolerated. that being said, the remind me of Resident Evil 1. They are hardly flawless, but I sure as hell will deal with them to play this totally unique game.

The elebits themselves have tons of character, and while physics feel a bit floaty, at the same time they are really well represented. the first time I picked up a bed compared to say a lamp was really fun. The strategies on the levels are almost overwhelming. Truly a game that while anyone should be able to buzz through most of the levels with bare minimums, to unlock everything will require loads of skills.

Overall it is a good game, and any score deductions it receives for gameplay elements (particularly controls and graphics) are more than compensated for with the whole cohesiveness of the package. I will say the 71% on gamerankings seems about right, though taking into account we are talking about a REAL 10 point scale, where 7.1 means a game that is without a doubt fun.

Anyone looking for an extremely fun game that unquestionably shows the difference between a 360/PS3 game and a Wii game should give this a try. And if you are on the fence, buy it. It is a good game and hopefully supporting Konami sends the message to them and others that we are all for original game ideas like this one to be developed for this system.
