Elebits Official Thread

This game rocks! :lol
Just opened it up, and went through the first 4 missions.

Lots of fun, despite fighting with the controls a little at times.
Also the constant rapid-fire A button makes my hand quite sore after a session. :-/

But overall, very entertaining and rather addictive so far.

i'm waiting on gamefly so I can join in on the fun. I am a huge katamari fan, and have been looking forward to this since I first heard about it. good to all the impressions.

Just don't expect the next Katamari. It's fun, but does not have the happy happy joy joy feeling that KD had.

I'm only about three missions into the game, but I'm really liking Elebits so far. The only problem I'm having is that, like some other people in this thread, I get slight motion sickness when I play. It's weird because up until Elebits, I have never had this problem playing games. Even first-person shooters were okay. But with Elebits, I can't play for more than an hour at a time (if even that long).

This game is pretty fun. I beat the first two missions already, and I loved flushing the toilet in the 2nd mission to activate more elebits. The story is stupid though.

Anyone who disses this game because of the graphics fail. The graphics are smooth, clean, and fit the game well. No problem with those at all.

This game is a good Wii game. People who call it a non-game or a tech demo either haven't played it or are trolling.

P.S. I know its two weeks late but virtuafightermaster or whatever who posted the first reply in this topic is a pretty blatant Nintendo troll after checking his posting history.

The best part about this game is that the rabbit from the amusement park in Silent Hill is in this game as well. Bloody mouth and everything... though I suspect its ice cream or something in Elebits.

Has anyone made any cool levels with the editor? I would love to see them!

got this game, it's ok so far. Graphics are meh, and music is not near as memorable as that one track on the Elebits site led me to believe. Voice acting is wow, just wow. But the art during the storyline parts is soooo good, I cream my pants every time I see it. Elebits 2 must try to emulate that artstyle in game, somehow. For the greater justice of humanity.

Controls pretty good. Not much to get used to, honestly, the only problem i have is making sure to put my hand back in a outstretched position whenever i want to pull something toward me. Just a personal problem with remembering my relative position in 3D space, I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually (had to get used to it for certain Trauma Center missions too)

Some cool ideas, though, I'll try out more later.

I'm actually enjoying this game far more than Katamari, but that's just me.

edit: got it last night and I'm on mission 22.

If you look at the items you have collected in extras mode it'll say something like "He loves ketchup *IT'S NOT BLOOD*".

I've made a couple of levels so far. Only one is actually playable, and it doesn't have that much stuff to do because of the 1000 points limit. What really annoys me is that EVERY level has a 1000 point limit. No matter how small or gigantic the level is. Some levels even start with 400 or 500 points already used up because of the level-embedded puzzles and items. Some of the biggest levels need at least 15,000 or even 20,000 point limits.

yeah someone whose taste i generally trust said to get it so I did. It's definitely no Katamari, that much I can tell, it's missing many, many components to put it in that same league but it's cute and has good ideas. Ideas that may get cooler, but I've only played about an hour or so.

How many missions are there?
I've feel like I've already popped 5 hours into this game and I'm only on mission 9 or so.
Though I did just beat the Sea Elebits boss, and I thought that was great :lol

Though it makes no sense why you start every mission with this puny capture beam on level 1, and then you start off on this boss, and your beam is automatically maxed out and you can toss pianos around like leaves.

There's about 28, not counting score attack, eternal and challenge missions.

Well, there's at least 22 missions -- that's where I'm at. Wait until the
amusement park
. :)

It's proportionate, like Katamari. Your capture gun always starts out at one, but by the end of that level you may be lifting a house.

No, in Katamari you start the levels at varying sizes. Sometimes you're already pretty big, in fact. It IS proportionate, but it's difference in where it tends to start.

I think I am almost done with it. Almost finished it, that is.

The voice acting is some of the worst since the original Resident Evil...maybe worse, from awkward pauses to passive voice.

So how is the difficulty in the game? Is there challenge enough to provide incentive to press on? Are the objectives fun to complete?

I would say so. I just completed a level about an hour ago that took me 4-5 times, all failures. It can be pretty challenging. That's without even doing the little "side-quest" type puzzles you can work through or finding all the pink elebits in a stage, or just unlocking all the rewards for a particular level. And the best part is that even if you bust your balls for 15 minutes trying to rack up 20,000 elebits (watts), and fail, your back at it almost immediately -- it doesn't turn you away in frustration like some games do.

Well yeah, that's what I mean. In the first level of Elebits, for example, you can barely lift a sheet of paper. Yet in later levels, you might start off being able to lift a small gate section or large ball. So... in that sense, I think it's proportionate like KD, albiet in a different way.

oh ok i see what you mean.

I think, of course, it's hard to be as purely brilliant as Katamari in this sense... it's just such a perfect even flow from how you grow small to huge, and so vibrantly original and with such a perfect sense of style audio/visual wise.

KD definately has the upper-hand, stylistically. Hell, it wipes the floor with Elebits in storytelling, as well. But I don't know what it is -- I'm just having more fun with this one. Probably because when I last played Katamari I was missing the rubber pieces on my Dual Shock. :lol

I wasn't planning on getting this game but it ended up in the house after xmas somehow and I must say, I'm addicted. I hope Konami tries some more ideas out on the wii...

Haha that's funny, but looks oh so wrong.

So far I've gotten 19 S ranks and 10 A ranks. Also, I've completed 16 challenges. How about the rest of you?

This game is shit hot.

What exactly am I supposed to avoid breaking in mission 4? I broke a bunch of stuff, then I broke something in a closet and my mission ended.

vases, pots, porcelain and shit like that

Does this game give anyone a huge boner at the prospect of a Ghostbusters game (albeit completely unlikely)? That shit would be ridiculous fun.

Pretty much how I feel after about an hour with it. It's fairly enjoyable, but I don't know how much longer it can hold my attention with other games like Zelda and FF12 calling me.

I just got the JP version. Does the wiiconnect24 works between the jp and us version?
My wii code is 5605 2650 2704 3179
Thx

I know that you can share miis and send messages between jp and na consoles, so I imagine elebits works. I don't know for sure though, I'm still waiting to be able to play the game.

I'm scared to go back to it because last time I played I got really nauseous.

Although I was having fun with it. ):

I get that too for some reason. I had a lot of trouble with it when I first played, but not nearly as much for the ensuing several days... then last night I played
the zero-G level
and it all came back again. Ugh.

It says a lot for this game that I'm willing to fight the nausea down ;)

Fooled around with the Wii in the first level to test edit mode. Works pretty well, edit mode. Definitely wish for a larger limit, but then again when you get any sizable number of elebits on the screen the game drops to like 5fps

Try playing on a smaller TV. Worked for me for Elebits and Metroid Prime.

Hey yeah! Metroid Prime made me feel kind of funny when I first started playing it as well. Today I was playing Elebits again after a couple days and had no problems. Although I did start feeling sick a couple hours later, i think that was just from eatting too much at dinner.

Anyone else having trouble getting higher than a C-rank on missions? After about maybe 4-5 tries I finally got an S-rank on the first mission.

I feel like a baby playing this game. Like playing with Legos. I've only done 1 mission so far. It's like a pre-schoolers FPS or something.

Can you believe some reviews talked about the 2D art as a negative point? They were implying the cutscenes should have been 3D animated or something, and using drawings was a cheap cop out.

I got this game 2 days ago. I expected them to be fun but not this much. I'm really impressed with the game, especially in
low gravity
level where all the elebits are
floating in the air
. I never thought it would be this fun to toss around objects and using them to smash the elebits to stay still :lol It was really great in a small level ina larger level while it's still fun but the framrate kinda kill it. This game is so cute. I love it when the elebits are
crying and other elebits walk in to comfort him
. Just beat the second boss yesterday and I'll go back for more today.
Damn pink elebits, they move so fast
.

yeah. it's neat and kinda fun. but not much more than that. unfortunately.

Pretty much, yeah. It's a well made, inventive, fun game... a good one. But not a great game, unfortunately. I really think an adventure approach instead of a mission approach would've helped it soooooo much more.

While it might have been neat to see what they've could have done with an animated style, this is one of those few games that can totally get away with the static 2D art... because it's just so high quality.

*nod nod*

I'd like to see how they could use the animated 2D though. I like how the game look in Wii Channel(Once click in) :D

Well, the channel art is totally different in style than the 2D static art. I'd like to see an art style that approximates the 2D static art animated...

the channel art is neat too, i suppose. I could see that made into a Loco Roco-ish platformer or something

So has anyone made maps? Whenever I try, I just get distracted by all the objects and decorate the house or the store or whatever the level is. I can make an awesome looking environment, but it's not exactly playable.
