Elebits Official Thread

I find myself enjoying playing one level, but then have to stop. I can't do level after level. It's a fun game, but it's just hard to play for an extended period of time.

EDIT: And holy crap at that P-A comic! :lol :lol

I feel the same way. I can't sit down and play this game for hours on end. but one or two levels here and there is fun.

Same here, the game used a lot of energy to move my hands around while pumping on the A button at the rate of 1000 times per minute :lol .

I agree, it definitely is not the type of game that you sit down for multiple hours and play. That in a way is the only aspect of the game I did not enjoy. Multiplayer was pretty fun though IMO.

Hate to dig up an old thread, but it is the OFFICIAL THREAD afterall.

I just completed the main missions portion of the game, and I must say I liked this game. A lot.

First off - this game is meaty. It took me a while to finish the game. I think my end game stats had me with over 10,000 Elebits captured. That's a lot of those little suckers. The low point in the game were easily the
zero-gravity town levels
. Too little environment interaction, too much walking, and not enough chaos. The rest of the game was great. ESPECIALLY the later missions (22-28.) It is great that they never made the formula stale by always introducing new aspects and emphesizing others in other levels. The level design was, aside from the aformentioned low point, amazing through and through, except for level 25, I believe, where I managed to get myself stuck in an area and had to reset the game (although I had only played said level for 10 seconds. Level 25 was still one of my favourites.)

And now even that I'm done, I still realize I still have a hell of a lot more to get. I only have a handful of challenge levels unlocked, and only two of those levels beaten. After some time in my only Eternal level so far, I realized that I got an "All Elebits captured!" message. I found an upgrade item also in one of those earlier levels that
gives me a permenant Elebit radar
. And I haven't even scratched the surface with edit mode, main game S-ranks, myriad unlockables, etc, etc. For what many dismissed as a simple "tech demo," this game sure has a hell of a lot of content, and is a blast to play.
At the end of the game, the game ranks you on your style of play, unlocking various unlockables. One interesting one I've found based off a FAQ is "Master of Discovery" or something to that effect, which would be finding all the "Elebit nests," or places/puzzles that hide the little suckers. Yet another emphesis for another playthrough ...
.

The only detractor is the framerate, which not only can be annoying, also makes the game easier than it should be in later levels, where the slow framerate makes dodging the abundant evil angry Elebits easier than it should have been. But I'd still call this the current defining experience on the console.

Easily a 9+/10 game in my book. And I'll still hold out hope for amazing sales and a sequel that fixes the framerate.

good game, i'm really enjoying it. i need to return it to blockbuster, but i may keep it an extra day :)

man those black elebits freak me out. everytime i mess up and pull em in, they shoot straight at my face and catch me off guard :lol

This game is awesome

I unlocked eternal mode in mission 21 (the amusement park one with a ton of game boards and block puzzles), and then spent the next hour and a half in the course, completing all of the puzzles. The 3D cube was a bitch and a half. The only one I couldn't figure out was the giant Othello board, because I'm not familiar with the rules of Othello.

I love how if you get your capture gun to the highest power, you can move the moon :)

I was never a big fan of FPS's because they feel so disorienting. In fact, the first couple of sessions of Elebits, I would get motion sickness if I played for longer than an hour. The thing is, I got used to it after awhile and now I can play for longer periods of time. So, now I'm going to go back to the Metroid Prime series and give it a fairer chance.

I'm bumping this thread cause I rented this game over the weekend and I love it, and if one more person tries this game out cause they notice this thread than I am a happy guy. I was like most people, didn't pay attention to this game, had no interest in it, but after some recommendations I decided to rent it. I am so glad I did cause its one of the best games on the Wii.

If you enjoyed Katamari you will probably like this game as well, it has that same build up of powers. In Katamari its making your ball bigger, in elebits its making your gun stronger so you can carry larger items. There is so much to the game, there is plenty of content to keep you going for many many hours.

The game is awesome, its easily one of the best uses of the wiimote. Try it.

Ive logged in about 30 hours or so on this game...but then i had to sell my Wii and I couldnt transfer the save to an SD card :(
I willb e getting a new Wii though so i'll just paly through again, its such a great game.

Fo sho. Elebits is one of the best third party games on the Wii, right up there with Trauma Center. Its multiplayer isn't that great, but it's fun to swap the controller on single player. Whoever isn't playing can help eye the screen and make suggestions for what to zap.

It's a similar multiplayer concept to that described by Zack & Wiki's developer in Nintendo Power. It's not *really* multiplayer, but other people are still actively participating in the game by checking out the screen and making suggestions.

I've never had a problem with motion sickness in FPS's. This is the first game that made me sick as if I'm reading a book in the passenger seat of a car. The same feeling. I had to pause every 30 minutes. Strangely... I got used to it. I can play for hours without feeling sick at all. Maybe because later in the game it's outdoors? I have no idea.

Anyway, this game rocks! I've made a 30fps version of my zero gravity vacuum video. Enjoy:

Great game in small doses. Should've been priced a little lower than $50 though, worth the $35 Amazon are selling it for.

Is it a trick of the screener video or is the lighting really good ?
Those reflections on the Wiis look like that in game. It's just a little brighter, due to the camera settings(my older videos were too dark). The graphics in this game are better than expected. The textures of most of the hundreds of objects are very crisp. You can even read the ATI letters on the Wiis.

I wouldn't say it's really good but apart from some minor slowdown the gfx are better than most reviews gave credit for.

I just noticed, even the fan is visible.

Thanks guys, I think I'll buy it in the next couple of days, hope I like it :)

Forgot about this game. My Wii is gathering majour amounts of dust, at least until Scarface arrives in Europe and I have time for it. Should pick up this game some day.

I don't understand why there was no emphasis on the level editor.

That's the reason I'm considering buying this game. And when seeing the vids, all these Wiis could have been one hell of a tech demo. Or an on-stage demo at some show.

Haha, you bumped this thread at almost exactly the same time I received an email notifying me that someone on SaySwap has mailed me Elebits. I should have it by the end of the week. Looking forward to it.

The level editor and online level trading has certainly extended the life of this game for me. I have 3 or 4 friends who like to make challenging levels from time to time and the editor is really nice to work with.

Yeah the editor is cool, I made a pretty tough level, its simple but hard to finish, I made sure that you had to finish it in a correct way. Its kind of like those challenge levels.

I must say I have a new appreciation for developers. I cant tell you how many times I thought my game idea was going to work great but when you actually try its a disaster. It takes a lot of going back and forth and tweaking a level before it works right.

I'm hopelessly addicted. It's another one of those launch games though (Excite Truck, Kororinpa and Wii Sports being others) which just begs for a sequel to perfect an already promising and mostly successful formula. Although they're occasionally sketchy, the controls are definitely one of the most creative implementations of the remote to date, too.

After the several praises I've bought it on ebay, I hope it will be as good as it was portrayed here. If not then...feel my wallet's revenge! :) (hope it gets here next week)
