They have literally had sports games as a service for over 10 years. How is this a shock to anyone here?

He's had solid growth for a decade!

So we’ve had ‘games as a service’ and now we have ‘games as a platform’. How about next we have ‘games as a supermarket’ - they offer everything for your daily needs!

The last game i’ve bought from EA was Unravel and after that Fallen Order. Next is Survivor. I guess i’m in the very low percentage of people who buys EA single player games.

as long as there are players like me that barely ever played MP games, let alone MP games infested with cosmetic or P2W crap, there will be some games for me also in the future. For now actually too many games to ever get through. So I am not worried one bit about publishers chasing again their current GTA, Zombies, BR, Looter Shooter, Halo, CoD, MOBA, MMO-phase. Not all games with those goals will survive, like always, but for everyone should be something on the plate, unless you have a very particular very niche taste, where waiting for EA is anyway not the best hope.

Give up on that one.
Unless discs have a higher storage, you wont be able to get full games on them.
We are now getting in to an age, which we will have more storage demanding games.
Then release the game with two discs. They've got the money.

They've been releasing a lot of different games these last months but i don't think it worked incredibly well for them.

I could say it's a shame if they go full GaaS again because we need classical AAA games but truth be told those companies lost the flame anyway. They are not going to come and make the equivalent of Dead Space or Mirror's Edge when they came out today. The best they can come up with is something like Jedi Survivor, i guess solid but creatively very safe and boring in every way.

They can even close Bioware at this point, wouldn't make a big difference.

This guy literally looks like a James Bond villain, lol.

It makes me sad when I think about how it's basically a miracle that we even got those Jedi games and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if EA is gonna try and fuck with it come third installment. Because these idiots at the helm of this company never learn. They took absolutely zero lessons from the fiasco of Dead Space 3 and every other franchise that they ruined.

You can be damn sure that I'm not gonna spend a dime on anything that comes out of EA that isn't something like Jedi Survivor, i.e. premium, single player-only experience that isn't tainted with some tacked on multiplayer bullshit or microtransactions. EA can take those things in particular and shove it up Android Wilson's asshole.

He is not wrong.
You can be successful. But with rising dev costs you need GAAS games to make money in case that your big AAA game will fail.
Ubisoft is prime example of this. Their inability to have successful GAAS games (outside of Siege) means that they are in trouble despite the fact that Assassin's Creed/Far Cry are huge sellers.
EA managed to strike great balance. They have their GAAS like FUT, Apex Legends that are raking millions per quarter and they allow them to be flexible and invest in development of games like Jedi Survivor or Dead Space Remake. But not many big AAA publishers can strike this balance.

And don't argue with Sony/Nintendo. Because they are getting 30% from every transaction on their platform, so they can take a risks in developing blockbuster AAA games with budget exceeding 200 million dollars.

In 360/PS3 era you could see on financial reports from big publishers that their entire revenue was tied to games that were released that quarter. So if they delayed a game, they could be in a big trouble. Now? You don't need to rush a game to the market because your Apex, you FUT will still bring huge results a millions.
