Not common, really. No new developments other than research/lore stuff, but in the PC 2.3 beta, there is a d
istress beacon you can investigate and you find a wasteland of huge military ships and one capital class ship, all dead and oozing this green goo/gas, while an alien ship jumps into hyperspace.

Sorry for being nostalgic, but I just noticed that I read and dreamt about playing Elite the first time around 1986 in a home computer magazine.
Which is a whopping 31 years ago now.
Amazing that this game universe is around again, and so much more detailed.
Will probably buy for the PS4, when it arrives.

I really hope they can, too, but feel like it's a tall order. Maybe it's possible. Elite is slowly being regarded as one of THE games that is benefited by and really shows off how powerful VR can be. It would be amazing if they brought that to consoles.
It don't think they have completely eliminated this as an option, but they also haven't promised it or talked about it anytime recently. I would *love* if they did this. Or, at the very least, I was able to link my account across platforms so my ships from PC were available on X1 and vice versa.
I don't think they have specifically mentioned Pro support, but I assume we'll find out this weekend. 1080p60 shouldn't be out of the question. Even the X1 version hits 60 fairly regularly outside of more populated/complex areas, and it's 1080p.

How do you mean? I'm positive it will have parity with PC, just as the X1 version does. I believe they already confirmed the PS4 version is launching with 2.3 features, so it's coming on or after that is fully released (which is likely weeks away, for PC at least).
Sorry, I meant they haven't detailed anything. I'd imagine it will hit 1080p60 pretty consistently though.

Regarding VR, "nothing to announce at the moment" which is better than "no".
No release date announced yet. No differences from Xbox version in terms of content. Haven't mentioned performance but will obviously be better on the Pro and I suspect maybe a lil better on PS4, too, but who knows?

The head look with controller gyros is a nice idea. I'd consider playing on my laptop with a PS4 controller if they added support to the PC version. Right now, I just can't bring myself to play when I'm off my desktop because I just hate to play without a good head look option.

Yeah, this would be a killer app for PSVR, and a one-two combo of this plus RE7 would be a perfect showcase of big-budget VR content on the relatively inexpensive PSVR.

Seems like an alien ground base or large landed ship. As we all know, there are no overhangs on Elite's generated planet surfaces and that last image has spikey things.

As someone that also owns this on PC, I would only double dip if they add VR support, I would leave my HOTAS setup behind to play this in VR without spending on a PC headset.

This needs to come to PSVR. I think that will be the tipping point for me to pick one up. I'll be getting this on PS4 day one though regardless, even though I have the PC version from backing the Kickstarter.
I do have a feeling though, while it will come to PSVR eventually - that because of the Frontier's previous relationships with Microsoft and that Elite came to Xbox already - that the VR console mode will debut on a Scorpio compatible headset. Thoughts?
