Some gay people do look and act a certain way. She's got a feisty attitude and her tomboy appearance might give people that impression she's gay. It might be unfair to assume that but offensive? But you know what they say about assumptions.
 
I wish we didn't live in a world where these grand speeches and mass twitter/facebook alerts are necessary and we could just go "Oh? Good for her I guess." So silly that it's still a perceived big deal.

Actually good for her. Still like her but how is this like "old news" to some of you? Where has she shown signs of being gay? All I knew is that she was like very nature oriented or something.

Put me in the camp that did not know before that she was gay. I don't follow all the celeb gossip and whatnot, didn't know anything about her except that she was in Juno. Good for her though.
 
I can't wait for the day when sexual preference is as mundane as the color of hair someone prefers. I'm happy for her and that she feels confident to share, but I hope for a world in which we can say "who cares?".

What exactly is idiotic, or "poor" about this film called Juno. I'm not a fan of the film either, but if you're being realistic the production values, and the names associated are very powerful and relevant to the time. Every of the major characters inside of the story are pretty shockingly casted for their roles. That being said the scriptwriting, and the pace of the story are poor... What's up with the way how powerfully you still feel about discrediting the film Juno, however? Are you so powerfully motivated to discredit such a high-budget film...

I don't see a lot of straight people dressing the way gay people do in pride parades.

A lot of the time, people of a certain sexual preference act, dress, and look a different way than the majority of hetero people do. It's nothing to get upset about.

For me personally, I assumed not exactly based on her appearance, but she just gave off a bit of a vibe that made me wonder... so I'm not too surprised at her coming out.

Whenever I hear about a celebrity coming out I'm reminded of Amanda Bearse, the actress who played Marcy on Married with Children. She came out, I want to say in the 80s but with no fanfare she just did this little PSA at the end of an episode and that was it.
 
I'm mostly surprised by the "well duh" comments. I don't ever recall reading about her possibly being gay (though I guess that mostly means I never read anything regarding her).
