Emily Blunt's presence on film

Genuinely surprised at how much of GAF (a group of mostly 20 to 30 something males) has seen Devil Wears Prada....

Well not a male but either they watch it with a woman or they've heard how deliciously evil and hilarious Streep is in it, or they're Anne fans.

I had no idea Blunt's in Looper. I would've watched it tonight regardless since I rather enjoyed Brick, but more incentive is always nice.

I thought Blunt was good in The Five-Year Engagement even though that movie was a good 30 minutes too long.

She was so hot in Charlie Wilson's War.

Apart from that I think she is a decent actress, not great or anything, very pretty and likable though.

I've seen a number of the films mentioned in this thread and wouldn't recognize her in a lineup.

she's like so many actors nowadays that just seem to leave no impression at all. just wallpaper.

Blunt is very cute and I like her accent, but her acting is really nothing special IMO.

She doesn't really stand out in any way.

I don't like her. On interviews she always seems in a bad mood. Kind of like her character in Devils wears Prada.

Reminds me somewhat of a modern-day Audrey Hepburn: attractive, carries herself with grace, etc etc everything that has been mentioned.

still would take audrey any day of the week

Yeah, there is something incredibly compelling about Emily Blunt that I can't quite put my finger on. She's one of those actors whose presence in a movie will increase my interest in it regardless of her role or what the film's about. She's attractive, sure, but it's more than that. Her characters always seem to have an edge to them, like she's got a spine of steel underneath whatever role she's playing.

Edit: I don't remember her in The Devil Wears Prada. Time to give it a rewatch.
Whaaaa, she's one of the best things about that movie!

Sunshine Cleaning deathmatch.

Emily Blunt vs Amy Adams.
Blunt wins always, but Adams was the more interesting character in that movie. Fun fact: my sister made me watch that movie when I visited her in Albuquerque a few years ago. She only bought it because she lived right down the street from the restaurant that Blunt gets fired from in the first scene.

She looks absolutely great in some films, alright in others.

I thought she was "eh" in The Five-Year Engagement. Also, I didn't like that movie so much. :(

She reminds me a lot of Hepburn in that she has a lot of charisma in any role she takes on. No matter what kind of movie is she puts her whole force into it to do her best work possible. A lot of actors dial their shit in but she makes it seem so effortless, but also overwhelming at the same time. She is wuite wonderful to watch and I will gladly go out of my way/tastes to see her in a film.

I know exactly that feel, Salsa. I think you pretty much summarized what I feel about Emily Blunt.

That said, she was quite the looker in Looper.

DAMN IT, TUNA.

Yeah she's cute. When I was watching Looper, I would have these moments where I'd just stop watching the movie and just think: "Argh...so cute." Her acting itself...it didn't stand out to me.

Michael Buble cheated on her. Bad move.
