Enemies that ruin the game for you

The sun from Mario 3. Not necessarily because he was hard, but because he scared the shit out of me as a kid and I couldn't bring myself to keep playing.

The zombie dogs in Ninja Gaiden 2. I have no problem with incendiary shuriken ninjas, no problem with rocket launchers, no problem with off-camera projectiles, but FUCK THOSE DOGS. They didn't ruin the game, but it would've been so much better without them.

The gigantic sun in World 8 where you have to jump on the music box platforms is something I never want to experience again.

Just seeing that picture of yellow devil up there pisses me off >:(

Hate those damn ghost fish in Ninja Gaiden.

Use the flails and never get hit?

Crawling Shadows from Deadly Premonition. Great game, but these mother fuckers took the weakest element of the game- the combat sections, and made them 100x more tedious and loathsome. I gave up on 100%ing the game because of them.

Their pattern is so exploitable I never had any issues with these guys. You can pretty much just stand in one spot and aim up the entire fight...

Geth Stalkers, Mass Effect. In a game with shit combat, the last thing it needed was these idiots bouncing around. Maybe it's better on PC where you don't have to fight the sticks to target them. The final boss of the game has the same animations as this, but with a gajillion hit points, making it the single worst fight in the whole series.

Um. You can just target them through the power wheel...

As for "shit combat". Well. Speak for yourself. :)

Whoever posted Blitzes don't know what they're talking about. Blitzes are easy, especially as Dante and they generally come alone or backed up with weaker enemies.

These fuckers however, I hate them so much. Frosts aren't a miniboss like Blitzes so they come in packs of 4 or 5. They're fast, dance around, don't stagger easily, have ranged attacks, can encase themselves in ice to recover health while his friends beat on you and worst of all, can freeze you dealing lots of damage and setting you up for further pain when the whole pack descends upon you. Frosts are the only ones who can render the player utterly helpless in a stun state.

Now try fighting 25 of them at the same time on Legendary Dark Knight Mode.

Gracious and Glorious were awesome, I like fighting them a lot.

There aren't much enemies that ruin games for me, but I would have more positive opinions for some of these games if it weren't for the boring and terrible designed bosses/enemies:

Batman Arkham Asylum:
Croc (it gets a chuckle out of me, whenever he appears, but that was pretty much it.), Poison Ivy was really terrible and boring as well

DmC:
Bob, this guy, he do nothing, he's just there and you punch his face for ssstylish, after punching a switch, what.

Assassin's Creed 2: maybe the normal enemies should fight back more, the last boss was zzz.

Uncharted 3 last boss: they managed to outdo themselves everytime with some of the boss/midbosses, at least UC2's was a real enemy, the one in 3 may as well just be a cutscene.

They really ruin the pacing and are just anticlimactic.

Edit: Yea ghost fish in NG was annoying as fuck, I hate enemies that put you in a short animation, in a fast paced game, it's like a slap in the face.

Promethean Knights in Halo 4 are awful bullet sponges with terrible hit reactions that can teleport anywhere with little to know forecasting. They're the worst enemy in Halo by a long shot.

Came here to post this. The prometheans were the worst enemies I've encountered in FPS games. They are the epitome of cheap ass enemy design and they pretty much ruined Halo4 for me, thanks to the horrible combination of lame mission design (hit 3 switches waves of enemies spawn, rinse repeat) and the promethean enemies was just no fun.
Such a shame too, as the covenant enemies were an absolute blast to fight.

Fun enemies to fight in FPSes is a pretty hard problem to solve.

Any enemy that wields a flamethrower but is armored at the front, so you have to go round the back of him and shoot the fuel tank to make him explode.

I hated the burrowing shark-like enemies in DMC4. ):

I came here to post this, I don't think that any enemy in NG2 comes close to being as annoying as these ugly fuckers...the funny thing is that they are called Faults.

If a Fault manages to catch the player, the player is transported to the Ruined Lowlands (subterraneal area in Sky Above Fortuna in Mission 18's case)and forced to fight different enemies to unlock the exit.

So much fun! :S

The first time you have to fight Ayame Blackburn in killer7 for me. Coincidentally I just fought her and it took me about 13 shots with Coyote and 5 grenades with Mask to beat here, but luckily it's over. She and in fact the entire level before here are really annoying and without them killer7 would be pretty much a perfect game.
