I'll update this thread with pics as soon as my sis uploads them from her phone, but have you ever walked in to a room that smelled so shitty you wondered if someone died there? Well, thats what my sisters luggage smells like. It literally smells like the inside of a morgue. And the smell has spread throughout the whole house. I wish she was able to part ways with her luggage but, she wanted to try to salvage it. yuck

I would burn it...

Your sister hear anything from other passengers about a lawsuit? Have lawyers called yet, or were they waiting when she disembarked.

There were lawyers on the ship as passengers and some would set up shop by writing "I'm a lawyer" on a blanket. Not sure how many passengers took up their business though, but they definitely had first right of refusal over off shore lawyers waiting for the ship to disembark.

CNN mentioned that you basically sign away most of your rights to sue when you sign up for the ticket. It's in the legalese 99.9 of us skip over and just sign.

Not sure how accurate that is though.

I think the $500 or whatever they're giving passengers is laughable. Most people probably brought more than $500 worth of clothes on what I'm assuming was to be a week long cruise.

I feel bad for the workers as well, especially the ones who were working for tips that week. Obviously passengers didn't feel compelled to tip a damn thing considering the situation.

I'm sure it is similar to any terms of service agreement. It would have to pass court muster if someone challenges as courts have thrown them out if I'm not mistaken. Unless the ship agreements have case law cited on them, I'm sure they could be challenged if a lawyer/client were determined enough.

I'm sure the ticket can be gotten around. The biggest issues will stem from people accepting the compensation offered by Carnival, which probably contains language in which you agree not to sue for any reason related to this whole mess.

Sorry these pics are late, but my sis finally got around to uploading them. Unfortunately she didn't take pics of the hallways or some of the other gross sights within the cabins, but her room was on the first floor, with no lights or windows, and if she wanted to take a shower in her room she had to use her iPhone flashlight to see which took up a lot of battery.

I posted this picture earlier, but this is where most people slept. "tent city" they called it. Many local services such as a police station, law office, and city hall were erected as well. The services were volunteer run, and the citizens were appreciative of those who assumed these roles.

Although there were citizen police, crime wasn't eliminated. My sister reported one ladies iPad was stolen while she was sleeping, and some iphones were stolen when left to charge at the power cable station. After these incidents occurred, people generally stayed with their electronics while they charged and my sister slept with her electronics in her arms to reduce her risk as a theft target.

Here's where my sister and a few other residents she teamed up with stayed. They sought out a prime spot under a life boat on the starboard side. Unlike tent city, her oceanview apartment was protected by cover above which proved to be beneficial when rain soaked tent city on day 3, but they were kept mostly dry.

He'res a makeshift tent in a prime location

They had a lot of time on their hands. Fortunately the boat had magazines to read. They were read cover to cover so many times that my sister and her friends started to use clippings to decorate their area. They called their section the "oceanview apartments:

When you had to poo, your only option was to go in these red bags with the trash can as your seat. When you finished, you had to tie it up and embarrassingly hand it over to a crew member that stored it in various closets around the boat.

My sister caught a picture of the coast guard transporting the sick woman who needed dialysis off the boat.

And finally the biggest entertainment for them was when the helicopter deliveries started coming in. This was near the end of the trip and the deck had to take down tent city in order to avoid the possibility of one of the blankets getting caught into the helicopters propeller.

I've heard all of my sisters stories regarding this trip, so if there's any questions yall have let me know. Otherwise, I'm just posting these pics because I promised I would. I know the story is "old news" now :)

Neat pictures. Glad your sister was able to make the best of a horrible situation.

Hey, remember this ship?

Well, it got loose again.

Carnival Triumph Adrift: Cruise Ship Breaks Loose In Mobile, Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. — High winds dislodged a disabled cruise ship from its mooring in Mobile, Ala., Wednesday, and crews were searching for a missing shipyard worker whose guard shack was blown into the water by the same strong winds, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Authorities said the Triumph becoming dislodged and the shack blowing into the water were not directly related.

The Carnival Cruise Lines ship Triumph was disabled Feb. 10, by an engine fire that stranded thousands of passengers onboard for days in the Gulf. It was slowly towed into port in Mobile, Ala., and miserable passengers were able to get off.

The National Weather Service reported winds between 35 and 65 mph blowing through the area on Wednesday afternoon.

Two shipyard workers fell into the water when the winds hit their guard shack, said Steve Huffman, spokesman for the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.

"We recovered one person. He was taken to the hospital. He will be fine, the only thing he's suffering from is mild hypothermia," Huffman said.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Bill Colclough said the missing man worked for BAE Systems that runs a ship-repair operation on the Mobile River.

Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen said the ship drifted and is resting against a cargo vessel.

"There are tug vessels that are in the process of stabilizing the triumph," Colclough said, adding it was unclear how far the ship drifted before coming to a rest.
