While I don't have anything to back it up, seems like they might be going in the direction of sickly and old looking mutant is actually crazy fucking powerful and looks are deceiving.
Hopefully it's just his early form after he wakes up and he starts to look younger/bulkier as the movie progresses. I feel he probably won't though, I'm not going to expect it to happen.

Those are cool as in wow nice comic book interpretation for a convention but look absolutely ridiculous if we were to say now put that in a movie.
I think they're going for the sad decrepit little grandpa look like they did with magneto before.

Ugh, I hated that about the earlier movies.
What a waste it would be of Apoc too if that is the look they end up going with for the entirety of the movie.

I didn't need some brawny muscle head guy, but Ian's Magneto didn't feel particularly threatening.
This could have been solved by having him be OP as fuck, but they didn't even give him that. He didn't feel like the Magneto I was used to seeing in the cartoons and reading in the comics.
He should have been crazy OP with his powers but he felt like a tired old mutant who was looked and felt like he was well past his prime.
At least the eventual movie has a chance to be good.
Unlike Genisys that looked completely shitfaced in promotional stills and then was equally stupid as a finalized product.

i've argued so much with points like this that my brain just checks out immediately whenever i read "it didn't feel like.."
he was plenty super-powered when he escaped from prison using the iron in a guard's blood. or in xmen 3 (scust) with the bridge scene
plus ian mckellen's performance made him commanding, one of the best villains in comic book films. once again you're so hung up on the size of a character lol when you should be concerned with the actor playing him. oscar isaac is gonna kill it.
it's not like ian mckellen had to play batman or some shit, his physical strength isn't on the cards here.

Fair points and I can understand the frustration having the same debate must cause, but man, I just wanted a much more powerful Magneto on screen.
We're getting that with Fass, so it's not all bad. We're seeing some mad feats like his missile grab, lifting the sub out of the water, the stadium, controlling the sentinels. That's what I wanted from the character in the original movies, but you're right that he did do some pretty OP stuff there too with the guard and the bridge (which I'd admittedly completely forgot about).

I was seriously convinced Apocalypse was the same dude from Guardians of the Galaxy and this was some MCU set photo or something.

i'm glad i got him as a villain. dude sold that sarcastic and powerful delivery like no other. so good. really the muscles don't make magneto. the personality and powers did.
and yeah i agree with the latter. it would be cool if he was in here as magneto's new love interest

I was thinking the same thing, but a little taller - something like a basketball player about 7' tall and really broad, and then have Oscar Isaac dub the performance. At least make him look physically imposing. He doesn't look that at all.
