Same feeling as well. Bottom one is too stylish and doesn't really fit in UT.

The top one looks great! The bottom one looks like something from Mass Effect. Which is fine, it's just not UT.

Top one, looks beefy, human made and Space Marine'ish, like most UT characters are. Bottom one looks alien.

I'd like the bottom one if it was a new gun. It would make sense from a universe point of view: "new alien technology" or whathaveyou.
I expect the game will have some designs from old, some designs that are more modern.
