Spike said:Maybe because it looks like a fun game? And perhaps because Warren Fucking Spector is working on it?
PounchEnvy said:Aren't the ears just sprites? How is that really an accomplishment (it's nice that they did implement it)?
RaidenZR said:Doesn't look that fun to me, hence the whole point of my post. And just cause there's an accomplished and praised figurehead attached to a project doesn't always guarantee anything.

Warren Spector is about the only developer who hasn't had a bad game attached to his resume. I think it guarantees that the game will be good.

I hope this is not a case of Nuts 'n Bolts when people wanted a BK3 or this title cf Castle of Illusion.
If the game is not upto scratch it'll easily get lost in the pre-release hype of Metroid, Donkey Kong and Kirby.
Oh I see.Nirolak said:I'm going to split this into its own thread real quick.
Edit:
There we go.

Whoops, the "Aren't they just sprites?" comment was in relation to a really old Mickey Mouse racing game by Rare.Alien Manobo said:Cool, I missed this in the other thread. I'd love to see some sort of Dev Diary for this game.
I don't think his ears are sprites or just basic planes rotating with the camera just like the leaves in the mafia 2 comparison shot thread.

Mickey's ears aren't usually modeled as one piece with his head so it gives the animators the control to shift his ear position correctly wherever he is facing.

I thought I had avoided moving any parts of the ear discussion to the new thread, but it seems I missed a post, and that one's especially confusing out of context.
you want people to explain their excitement specifically after your vague criticism? amazing.RaidenZR said:I'm sorry if I'm raining on people who are genuinely excited for this but I think the actual interactions looks bland and boring. EatChildren said:I'm really looking forward to this, but still concerned that the gameplay will fall a bit short. It looks enjoyable, but there's something 'off' about the mechanics shown so far. The platforming, the painting/thinning concept, etc. Its all a good idea in theory, but I'm not totally convinced that the execution will be really amazing (though likely enjoyable).
If there's one criticism I'd bet on its that the camera will probably suffer the same problems many 3D adventure games, especially Wii games, are plagued with.
Similar to what they did with Astroboy's hair for the movie.Alien Manobo said:Cool, I missed this in the other thread. I'd love to see some sort of Dev Diary for this game.
