Epic Rap Battles of History (Season Five)

I liked these better when they were somewhat historical and not just topical cultural references.

The lyrics are fine but the voices are so off. Vader vs. Hitler was so funny because of the line delivery (e.g. "I am Adolf Hitler, commander of the third reich! Little known fact: Also dope on ze mic!"). Also, Gandalf sounds very similar to Genghis Khan.

I liked Ben Franklin vs Billy Mays. Mays actually kinda sucked but Franklin was pretty good and Vince killed it.

This one, I wasn't impressed with. Shakespeares' second verse was the only decent part.

No one here has looked at the most recent one? (Mr. T versus Mr. Rogers - can't link to it because I'm at work.)

I think their low point was the Ghengis Khan versus the Easter Bunny, but the subsequent ones have been a steady improvement (with this latest one being the best one, post-Einstein and Hawkins).

Some of my fav lines of this one:

Mr. T:
"I'll choke we with your own sweater sleeves / You couldn't even beat me in the land of make believe!"

"I will Mr. T bag you, in the closest cemetary / Nobody's gonna miss you, cuz all your friends imaginary"

Mr. Rogers:
"I like you just the way you are, one in a million / but it looks like the barber gave your head a brazilian."

"I teach the whole world full of children, I can tell / you call yourself T cuz you're too dumb to spell"

"When my plan comes together you won't even see it coming / I'll chop you into 4 black dudes and I'll remake Cool Runnings"

"Get right back in your van, get the fuck out of my neighborhood"

Clearly I think Mr. Rogers won. :)

I love these.

Hawkings and Einstein is my favorite, as is Hogan and Kim Jong Il. Some of the beats are well produced and catchy, and the lyrics are pretty awesome. The Beiber/Beethoven one is also rather good.

I was expecting real memorable rap battles when entering the thread. Then I saw the first post and changed my expectations to DJ styled video clips of historical figures forming some kind of mixtape, left thread disapointed. Not bad for YouTube Junk but the production values are too high for the amaturish end result. I wonder if that dude has real mixtapes or if he can freestyle?

RAP-GAF represent.

Stinks that Ether cannot be played on mobile.

Captain Kirk vs. Colombus

Definitely an odd one, what with Colombus' pause in the beginning, and Kirk's stunted speech. It's not as good as some of the more recent ones, but I still enjoyed it.

I can appreciate what they were trying to do here, so I don't hate it like some of their other ones - but it's not one I'm going to listen to again.

I was just introduced to this. Hawking vs. Einstein was so fucking great.
omg that one was so damn good

I can't believe I'm just finding out about these. Most of them are terrific.

hahah i think its cool that neogaf found this, nice peters is a really cool guy i have met him and seen his shows in LA during the red bar comedy LA tour thing, you can always find him in long beach doing shows. im happy that he has this going he deserves the internet fame. buy his CD's lol

Somehow stumbled upon one of these videos on Youtube (I have no idea)... and couldn't help but watch every single one of them. All of them are at least 50% excellent some of them 100% amazing.

Love Einstein vs Hawking, Mr. Rogers was just amazing (Cool Runnings? LOL), and Kirk's performance made that video take a bit to grow on me but Christopher Columbus is killer (I am the fabric of history, you are a fictional stain. I'll stick a flag in your ass and claim you for Spain! - also something very appealing about the colors and presentation of Columbus). Also enjoyed Gandalf vs Dumbledore. Of course Hitler vs Vader is awesome, I'd love to see a part two especially for that. Don't care much for Shakespeare, Watsky can do better than that I'd think. Not bad, just feels a little disjointing somehow. Overall good shit and I'm really interested to see what they pull out for the second season.

Holy shit at Beethoven's verse during his battle with Beiber---"There's a crowd of millions waiting to hear my symphonies! You wanna be a little white usher, HERE show 'em to their seats!"

Vader got shit on a second time... "a trip on my train" and "Sieg-Fucking-Heil" lmao.

Though I'm missing the "I'm Adolf Hitler" scream from the first one. And I think the track was much better on the first one.

Damn! Called that shit like a BOWWSSS!

Awesome new one. Hitler wins again.

Hah. I agree, Hitler wins again. I'm surprised the first episode of Season 2 didn't pack more of a punch, though. I have to say I'm excited to see Hawking chilling in Jaba's lair - in retrospect that has to be my favorite singular performance. Can't WAIT to see him back on it. Sieg fucking Heil.. hah. Really enjoyed the "double mask", too. Clever to start out with "someone who loathes you" I don't really dig the "end" though. Also rather surprised they reused the backgrounds. Love Vader thrusting in the background..!

Agree with you, I think the track on the first was a lot better on the first battle. This also has to be one of the shortest ones (as far as the verses go), it clocks barely a minute.
