Epic Rap Battles of History (Season Five)

This was classic ERB. An actual epic rap battle of history, with great lyrics, random historical snippets, and a great beat. It kept its hype all across the song too.

Disappointed they copied the ending from 2012, but that was a pretty well made battle.

It's also interesting to see how many of ERB's fanbase were Trump supporters, although it might not be surprising after Jefferson v Douglas.

I like how they copied but still subverted, like how
he slapped trump twice
instead of
once for each one

Well he also
didn't rip into Hillary at all, but instead told her to hurry up and beat the Orange Fuck.

Well, he did tell her
that she wasn't really personable which is about the only plausibly negative thing one can say about Hillary's performances in these debates. I actually don't think it's that bad, but the truth is that she doesn't have the stage performance of Obama (not that I think that's a fair criticism, for several reasons, but I agree with the notion that she's a bit more stiff. Actually, I'd rather have her loosen up a bit like she did in the third performance where she just had it with Trump's shit and had her passion and authenticity shine through a bit).

But yeah, they're not playing into the 'both sides' thing at all, and I respect the fuck out of them for that.

As far as Lincoln not smacking both of them, it might be a 'don't hit a girl' thing which I typically suspect is the actual motive, but in this case, they have a REALLY good excuse to lay into Trump exclusively.

Had me rolling. Not gonna lie, kinda liked it better than the Romney and Obama one.

Speaking of which, just saw Romney at work today.

That was fantastic. I love how they kept Trump as a piece of shit and didn't try to cover for him in anyway.

Best part is the neonazi whining in the comments hahaha. Can't wait for Nov 8 for the tears motherload..

I'm glad they didn't do the "both are just as bad" bullshit they did in 2012.

They didn't really do that. They leaned pretty heavy on Obama's side, just unsatisfied in how much change he accomplished. Lincoln was basically their surrogate and he says "I wanna like you" to Obama.

This. He told Obama to fight harder for change.. and told Romney off. Donno how that equates to them both being bad.

Hillary killed. hahaha!

I thought the Trump was better than most trump impressions, but you almost need someone with that accent to really nail it. Sort of like its almost impossible to hit a real Irish or Scottish accent even though people not from those regions try.

The best trump impression I have seen is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Poi5x0E2CM&index=11&list=PL3PE79JjVECk4hfdhlb-g1tGm0j0z_nlc

In this impression Lloyd hits some things- he squints like trump, but he doesn't hit trumps stumbling.

When trump talks he interrupts himself mid sentence many times with filler "its great", "and I'll tell you this", "and people call me up and congratulate me", and look at what happened this morning""tjina". Its hard to nail.
Even South Park decided to depict Mr. Garrison as Trump, because Trump is such an outragous person that characterizing a caricature is very difficult. I think that is why we've seen so many great comedians fail to impersonate him well. Both in stand up, on comedy shows and just in day-to-day. I've tried as well, and I can't do it.

For all intents of purposes I think Bernie Sanders is just as difficult. the way he yells and flails his arms with that NYC accent is very difficult to hit. Vox actually had a interesting video about Sanders way of speaking ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waeXBCUkuL8 )

I was kinda expecting them to skip this one or take a "both are bad" approach. Glad they didn't

Lloyd's Trump impression is way more authentic in the making of video

Not really, he was just being Peter, barely doing an impression. The Trump from this video had the gestures and the sliminess down, he just didn't have the voice, which is rare for any Trump impressionist. Honestly, he reminds me of the Darrell Hammond Trump impression from SNL, it's the subdued creepy Trump, not the loud angry one.

That was just terrible. Flows sucked, their voices were bad, beat was boring and a mismatch. ERB is very hit-or-miss these days.

The last two really good ERB videos were Deadpool vs Boba Fett and Lewis and Clark vs Bill and Ted.

The Trump from the Scrooge video is massively overrated. Nothing about it really feels like Trump unless some dude yelling is all you have to do to replicate him.

Yeah, this video didn't nail the voice, though I think it's almost impossible to nail because of how ridiculous Trump's voice is to begin with - the original thing is so absurd that any parodies just come off as cheap caricatures, but the mannerisms and lyrics are spot on.

There ones they have done recently have been among their very best. Alexander The Great vs Ivan the Terrible is probably the best one they have ever done.

Double trump slap gets me every time

These are the best. Only found out about them late last year. Forgot to check back in for season 5, which this has reminded me to do,

Cheers!

Haha, I didn't expect them to use amazing
Lincoln
again :D Loved that part.
