Well it is from ATLUS so you might want to pick it up even if you aren't done with pokemon just in case you cant find it later.

anyway yeah its pretty hard hardcore dungeon crawler so expect a lot of grinding and a few unexpected deaths.

Its pretty easy on easy but there are multiple difficulties so you can skip hard and very hard if you dont want to play them. I don't usually like hard games though and I found myself addicted to the first game so if you like rhythm games and the music sounds good to you then you should think about getting this.

Gamestop isnt really the only people to blame. Atlus in particular, at least in the past, was notororius for undershipping period. Both the retailer and publisher here can't risk a mass shipment for something so niche. What would they do with an overstock of games that'll never sell? Look at Atlus JP there, they totally undershot production over there.

I am avoiding this thread until I beat it, just because of this remark. I'm not even sure why I'm buying more games, this will be the 4th RPG i'm in the middle of. With Odin Sphere soon being 5. Luckily it's on the DS so I can play at work.

Not a Roguelike, this is a Shining in the Darkness/Wizardry-like: first-person view, turn-based battles, ...

I'd really like to get this, but I'm not sure about the first-person view. I get a huge headache and start feeling nauseous when playing from a first-person perspective for more than a few minutes (which is one of the reasons I have no interest in FPS games). Damn.

For what it's worth, it's much, much slower paced than an FPS game, and once you map out the area, you could always just look at the map you've made to get through the area.

In reality though, Etrian Odyssey is a challenging, ballsy, rewarding game that gives the otherwise stagnant RPG genre a swift, much-needed kick in the ass.

But for those of us who can still remember getting out the graphing paper to get through Tactics Ogre, you can turn off the auto-draw and go all-out old school dungeon crawler.

The combat system in Etrian Odyssey is not unlike the one Atlus's Thousand Arms and Shin Megami Tensei games.
