EU PSN - Final Fantasy Sale

So if I wait for the US versions of FF7/FF9, will they be playable 1)on my EU PSP and 2)on my EU PS3's HDTV? Because a guy above mentioned that the PAL versions were not working on his US TV.

I forgot how the PSN account situation is handled on PSPs, but from a technical standpoint they'll work without a problem on both.

I believe so, unlike the Vita, you CAN have multiple accounts on a PSP don't you? Go make a US account and activate it on your PSP.

I have the same problem being in Japan, but PAL TVs actually support NTSC, unless we're talking about some old-ass non-HD set from 15 years ago.

It will also work on your EU PSP, you will only need your US to be associated with your PSP I think.

The only FF that suffered from being 50hz was FFX, the pace of the game was much faster than previous titles and as such it was instantly noticeable that things weren't going full speed on the PAL version.

Final Fantasy IX Speedrun is almost impossible though, and it was possible to force FFX into 60 Hz.

If I buy the digital version of FFXIV will I still be able to upgrade to the PS4 version once it's out and participate in the beta next month?

Picked up FF5 and 6 from the sale, nice having 5-9 sitting there to be played on my Vita whenever I want. I did want to get FFX/-2 for PS3 but I can't say I enjoy going back to it after getting the PS4, so it is likely I will get FFX/-2 for Vita now instead.

1) Yes, but you have to activate it with your US account. Unlike the Vita this doesn't delete any games, you just can't play your European download games while it's activated on your US account (but you can easily switch back later), easiest done through your PS3.
2) Yes. European HDTVs support NTSC.

Does anyone know if the 30 day free time starts when you buy from PSN, or when you first login to the game? Want to pick this up for the cheap PS4 upgrade, but ideally don't want to squander the free 30 days (I won't even download the game).

Yes to both. NTSC TVs still can't handle PAL signals, but European TVs do both. Probably that weird French signal too.

Dissidia 012 Prologus or whatever it's called, any reason to buy that one? Is it a glorified demo or does it add stuff to Dissidia duodecim 012 something?

Bought FFI,II, IV Complete and Dissidia duodecim. Thinking about buying the other FFs just so I can have FFI to FFIX on my Vita with FFX and X-2 also coming soon.

picked up FF VII, VIII and IX plus tactics for my vita. the 50hz and black borders stuff will probably be a bit annoying but what the hell.

it's not the worst genre to have a bit of stuttering in

I own V VII VIII and the second Dissidia thingy (No idea if this is any good or not?)

Never played any of the Fantasy games before 7 but I have played all since. Which others should I get in addition to V?

Also what about tactics? Is it an Xcom type of thing?

You can manually stretch the image on the vita so that it's in the right aspect ratio. Doesn't fix the 50hz but it's better than nothing.

VI is amazing, but maybe not the PS1 version. Tactics is like a Fire Emblem game

Prologus has a bit of story and unlocks Aerith as an assist character in Duodecim

I just bought Final Fantasy Tactics, I tried to play it once before but didn't get very far. So I have a question, is this game really hard or am I just terrible? Seriously I was 2 hours in and getting my arse handed to me in random battles and gave up. I rented it last time so I gave up pretty quick, I'll take more time with it this time.

It is tough, the difficulty/learning curve is all over the place. Once you think you're getting used to it you can happily sail along and then suddenly boom, ass handed to you (and usually in the multiple room areas or whatever, so you can't even grind to get past).

Absolute best advice for FFT is to save ALL THE TIME and use as many separate save slots as you can spare.

It takes a while to get your head around how the combat works, but it's awesome once you do. There are numerous difficulty spikes though.

Thanks guess I'll buy that one too.

It's pretty hard in the beginning yeah, later the game becomes piss easy because of a broken character and you can make OP classes. The hardest fight however is against Wiegraf, but can be cheesed with the ability that increases speed , guts or something.

I recommend saving often and have multiple saves. My favourite FF game by the way.
That reminds me to buy Vagrant Story too.

Played Front Mission 3 yesterday, looks good on my Vita, Squaresoft was amazing back in the PSX days. Gonna make my Vita a Squaresoft nostalgia device, sooo good.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm glad I don't have to hang my head in shame. I'll try it again, I know it's a great game, I look forward to actually experiencing it for myself. I have a 32GB card for my Vita so i'll do multiple saves.

I played the remake of IV on DS, and stopped when I got to the moon, I didn't much like the updated graphics on that one. The original game has aged better so I'm looking forward to playing that too.

My Vita is pretty much a shrine to the old SE

FF 1-9
Front Mission 3
Vagrant Story
Dissidia Duodecim
FFT: WOTL
Tactics Ogre: LUCT

I think that's it. I just want FFX to complete my FF page on my Vita

After complaining all the time about the PAL versions I can't believe that I bought 7, 8 and 9 (also FFT WotL).
I don't think that I will re-play any of them any time soon, but oh what the hell, they were dirt cheap. Using custom screen mode takes care of the borders and regarding the 50hz thing it shouldn't be an issue, if I didn't know I couldn't tell (even now I can't tell actually).

At first I thought that I would go for 1, 2, 4 but I don't think that I could go through 1, 2 and actually have some fun at the same time and as for 4 although it looks good if I ever want to play it again I will play the GBA version (same for 5, 6).

Now waiting for a discount on LUCT and maybe some more RPGs and this will be my portable RPG machine as so far I am not enjoying much any of the recent Vita releases.

If only they would bring over here some NTSC games. I still can't believe that Nintendo released Mario RPG or Eartbound (PAL VC versions) and Sony won't bother to do the same for so many NTSC only PS1 classics.

Well the FFVII frame-rate is worse than I thought. On my Vita I just loaded up a save I haven't touched since Xmas 2011 on my PS3 (12 hours in, outside the Gold Saucer with all main storyline party members) and it was immediately noticeable. I think recent plays of FFX HD and the opening few hours of FFVII NTSC on my PS3 have left me spoilt, because I don't remember the fps of VII PAL being that bad.

I'll get use to it and I'll have to stick it out, because I don't want to be fucking around with separate accounts. If I get annoyed enough I may lodge a refund request though.

PAL in 2014?

is square having a laugh?

This is really annoying, before getting a vita I didn't realize a lot of psone classics are 50hz on the european PSN. Pisses me off. Was going to buy FFIX but gave up when I saw this, I already suffered through the slow-mo versions when they were originally released, thank you very much.

I just started WotL, I'll have to keep that in mind.

Oh god your post made me google "final fantasy 60 hz vs 50 hz". This video sums it up:

I'm going to definitely try a refund now. I will put the £12 towards Tearaway in a few weeks lol.
